Wine Rack

This is a great little wine shop and their Back Room Bar is a popular hangout. No, it’s not Southern California, LA or Newport Beach but for Southern Illinois, it’s excellent! They carry what I like and when I want to try something they don’t have they order it in. Greg and the family have a wonderful locally owned business here, I invite everyone to check them out and see for yourself!

Where does one find good wine in Southern Illinois? Unfortunately, not here.
This place used to be the «go-​to» destination for decent wine in the Salem/​Mt. Vernon/​Centralia area. Unfortunately, they seem to have cleared out all of their good wine and replaced it with the exact same varieties that are available at most supermarkets in the area… that is lots of things like «Barefoot Bubbly», 3+ liter specials, Franzia, and the like.
They also stock some coffee beans in bulk and seem to be attached to a bar around back, although I haven’t checked the bar portion out. The salesperson/​proprietor is friendly enough, although doesn’t know his wine well.
Basically, if you want good wine around here, plan a trip to the St. Louis metro area. You’ll find the exact selection here that you will at any Schnuck’s, IGA, or Wal-​Mart.
