My go-to spot when I’m working out of Bend — don’t miss their breakfast sandwiches.

This place is too small and too busy! Because it’s really good. The barista brought me my coffee upstairs but didn’t put cream in and although he offered to schlep it down and add some I decided to go without. Glad I did. I USED to drink good coffee, black but over the years, depending on the brew I add cream or flavor. But just wow. Excellent!!! They also have fantastic bagels and schmears! Locally owned, roasts coffee on the spot, brings vitality to downtown and in the evenings they have great entertainment…(or so I have heard!)

One of the best lattes I’ve ever had, and a great place to sit and do lots of work. Ordered a large latte and stayed for a few hours with my laptop and got some work done remotely. The have lots of seating, but it did fill up shortly after I arrived. The upstairs loft area has extra seating if the bottom is full. Bathrooms are upstairs BTW.

As a recent transplant from out-of-state, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect candidate to replace my regular coffee house haunt. The Gov Cup certainly is a contender! The ambience is pleasant and not overwhelming. The bagel sandwich I had with goat cheese and bacon with BOMB. The coffee can be good if you aren’t ordering straight up black coffee(which tastes off– probably due to dirty carafes). Overall, it’s a solid four-star joint, with room to improve the quality of their brewed coffee, and maybe provide more power outlets via power strips :) I’ll be coming back here regularly!

Some of the best coffee I’ve found in Salem! The service is quick, food is very good. Even during rush hour the ambiance is still very comfortable. The Gov Cup is in an optimal location in the center of Salem’s down town with quick walking access to many other businesses and attractions. Prefect for a quick cup of coffee or if you prefer a relaxing sit down mocha.

I’m just a California tourist randomly stopping by this coffee shop to get out of the cold. Decided to get a chai with soy milk drink to warm up. I’m not a coffee person so it’s usually chai or hot coco for me when out and about. I can honestly say this is the best chai I have ever tasted. Great service. Cozy atmosphere. Thank you spontaneity!

I really like this place for atmosphere. Nice art on the walls. I’d call it a hipster hangout and it is always busy but the large friendly staff puts the drinks out quickly. Good rainy day spot to relax over a cup of jo.

We love going to the gov cup on Friday nights when they have live music at 9pm and they open up the bar portion for mixed drinks all named as past governors of Oregon. If you need to get some work done this is a good place to sit down and work with your cup of caffeine.

I’ve been a patron of this shop since I was 16(and…I’m 31 now). They roast their own coffee, the staff and owners are delightful, and I love the atmosphere of this shop. Best coffee in downtown Salem.

Perfect for college students to meet up and study, or hang out and chill. I love Gov cup! Their coffee is great, and the staff is very nice!

Coffee, tea, bagels, and more. Coffee Shop by day. Bar by night. Lots of tables on the first floor and on the second floor. The second floor has a nice skylight and gives you lots of natural lighting. The bathroom is located on the second floor, and there is only one bathroom for this place.

I use to go to Gov cup when I was in high school I’m 1999… The service at bar area looks nicer and more professional. The barista was friendly and helpful. The amount of room in the place was nice but I’m pretty sure the tables are the same ones from when I was in high school 16 years ago. I hated them then and I hate them now. Well, I mostly hate the 2 seater round tables. Irately have room for my drink, phone, and book to read. Still, it has a very welcoming atmosphere and I didn’t feel uncomfortable coming in to study. If you want something more hipster and scenish then try«Archive».

5 stars because of their excellent staff. I’ve never seen anyone who works here goof off. They are always making drinks, delivering drinks and food to customers, cleaning or doing other misc work throughout the day. They are also nice and professional. A+++ with the staff! Also necessary, they have great teas(I’m not a coffee drinker) and bagels(including bagel sandwiches before 2pm). The space is great, but it can get crowded at times. If you are going there to study(like me most of the time) you can run into problems finding a table or an outlet for your computer. Overall, I definitely recommend.

This coffee shop is very close to where I worked. Deciding to give it a try instead of going to my usual place. I ordered a hot chocolate which tasted pretty good. However it took to long to get it. When you are slipping out of say the courthouse to get coffee you need it to be fast.

Great local coffee roaster with a variety of roasting profiles. Gov Cup also serves alcohol.

Great coffee from great people! I refer to their lattes as liquid joy. Close your eyes, breathe in the aroma deeply, and slowly let it tickle your tastebuds. It doesn’t get any better. Well, add a freshly toasted bagel with a custom mediterranean or lox schmear and it gets even better. Support your local coffee roaster and come in out of the cold for a great treat.

Have you ever wished you could travel back in time? In many respects The Governor’s Cup is a time warp back to the 1990’s While the décor has been tastefully updated a bit since then the general feel of the place is still that cozy brick lined past that takes me back. THECOFFEE: The Gov’s cup rosts their own coffee the roster sits in the corner of the seating area. This means that it can be a bit hit or miss. It somtimes comes off a little over rosted. The drip somtimes leaves a bit to be desired(which is why it’s only 4 stars) Espresso shots are good but not fantastic. Friendly welcoming service. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

I think there are better places in the area for coffee. Two of us went in, they weren’t very busy and we ordered two iced lattes, a regular iced latte and an iced Mexican latte. We received a mocha and not a Mexican. The mocha tasted like chocolate milk, you couldn’t taste the espresso. The regular latte was ok but not great.

I lov the Gov. A great independent coffee house that roasts it’s own beans on site. Plus Spielman bagels from Portland. The staff is always friendly… they even come out from behind the bar to deliver your drink, even if it’s to go. Now that’s service.
