In the fall of 1975 after serving 5 years in the Air Force, Jim opened Somer Real Estate in the front porch of his home, now the site of Richard Sinclair State Farm Insurance. At that time, Somer Real Estate was the 13^th real estate office to open an office in Salem. After experiencing steady growth, the good fortune of attracting the best real estate agents in the Salem area, and two changes in location, Jim renovated the historic John C. Martin house at 907 West Main Street, and in 1986, made it the office’s permanent home.
Through hard work and the desire to provide the highest level of professional real estate services, in 1980, Somer Real Estate became the première real estate company in Salem. It has always been the mission of Somer to provide the best information possible to its clients in order for the client to be in a position to make the best decisions possible for them and their families.
