My wife and I are staying at the Holiday Inn in Salem, Virginia on our way back home from Atlanta. Rather than eat in the hotel restaurant, we decided to try ordering from Shanghai, a local Chinese restaurant that delivers here. I ordered a hot and sour soup, an order of(4) spare ribs, sauteed string beans and their smoked Asian duck. The hot and sour soup wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t hot at all, nor very sour. The ribs were quite good and tender, but the sauce was a bit sweet. The sauteed string beans were nicely prepared, and a good side dish. But the duck was surprisingly good! Nicely(but not overly) seasoned, very tender, and better than I’ve had at some restaurants in Manhattan. Overall, I’d probably give the place three stars, but the duck was so good(and very reasonably priced) that I’m pushing it to four. This was a very nice surprise!
