I have to say, we were nervous walking in after looking at the rating. Place was empty. Other restaurants were empty. Have to say, portions were enormous!!! The kids burger was the size of an adult burger with a TON of tator tots… The highlight. It was only 4.99! I had the chicken BLT with avocado and it was delicious as was the English breakfast. Great spot!

I have to say the latest updates to the menu are wonderful. I had the fried clams the other day and today had the buffalo chicken dip. I highly recommend both. I did taste the asparagus bites I think they are called. They were wonderful. The sauce with them was amazing but not needed. I can’t wait to try more of the new items.

Nothing Irish about this place. Average food quality, odd selections. The music is too loud for normal conversations. Men’s bathroom is directly by the kitchen? Yuck. We’ve been in a few times but think we’ll go elsewhere. Too slummy.

If you like an authentic Irish Pub, check out this place! They had the BEST live music, even included a bagpiper. The food was amazing too! We split some tots, a true favorite, and I had some of the tastiest shepard’s pie I’ve ever eaten. My friends had the chili, and the buffalo mac and cheese, and they were equally as satisfied. Lastly, I had a blueberry beer that I really enjoyed. It was a wheat beer, and I’m dying to have it again. This place is an experience worth having if you’re visiting Salem!

Came in during the Halloween weekend rush expecting to have to wait hours to be served. They got us right in, and although we had to wait 30 minutes to order meals we were served drinks and got a large table for all nine of us. Service was good and server even charged my phone for me behind the bar. The drinks were great quality and the food was large portions for a good price. They have the best steak fries I have had in a while. We will return when I’m in Salem again!

That place was horrible, bad service forced us to buy a pitcher of beer that we didn’t even order. Loud obnoxious people. The waitress was so unhelpful and stupid. Will never return again. Shitty beer.

Went for trivia one week to try it out. I was really unimpressed by the service. I waited for ½ hour for another drink. It wasn’t busy. My friend mentioned she could see the server fixing her hair in the back. I was pretty hungry by the time we finally ordered food, but when it arrived everything was way too salty. Did I mention how long it took to receive my first drink? I just toughed it up and finished so we could get somewhere with faster service. With all the places to go in Salem, I won’t be back. Just so disappointing because I really wanted this place to be good. Perhaps sitting at the bar is better. I may suggest that if you are absolutely desperate and end up going here.

We had lunch at O’Neills on a busy Saturday in October when everywhere else we tried was packed and we got a table for 2 no problem. The waiter was really friendly and very helpful. We tried 2 of the drink specials and they were very good. We were warned ahead of time that the kitchen was backed up and it might be a longer than usual wait for our food(we both ordered the fish and chips) which we said was fine, understanding that it was a busy time of year and a busy time of day. We were really surprised when 20 minutes after ordering the waiter came out with our dishes. The food was good, nothing life changing but good quality and enjoyable.

The food was«wicked good» as advertised and the staff was very friendly. Good beer and apple cider selection. Warm and comfortable all around. Thanks to Deirdre for taking great care of us!

Et tu, O’Neills? Why can’t there be one spot in Salem that doesn’t cater to the October tourist crowds by turning their backs on the locals? We’ve been coming here for a while, and thought O’Neill’s would be different, but we were wrong. Sunday night for a quick bite — the menu has been changed(read: limited) for October. Could they make an O’Neill’s standard anyway? No — understandable. But why? Waiter said«because the kitchen is too small», but then said that the dish could be made on a weekday. I inquired if the kitchen magically grows in size on weekdays to allow this. Please don’t BS your customers. So, first — UPDATEYOURONLINEMENU if you’re going to severely truncate your offerings. It’s October 18th, you had plenty of time to do this. We did not see the menu until we already ordered drinks, and actually considered leaving then and there, but stayed. Our fault. Second — If you are going to limit your menu, give a selection, and real food — tater tots are a middle school side dish, not an entrée. And third, while no customer expects that a restaurant will make them something off-menu, if you have the ingredients, and it’s a slow Sunday night, and you’re dealing with locals, it might be advisable to try. We do live here year round. After that, and begrudgingly ordering a consolation prize, we were pretty much ignored — we got the feeling the waiter knew we were unpleased. Well my friend it’s called«customer service» for a reason. Help your customers. When the band left, the stereo came on — blasting, for a now half-empty house. We asked twice about the noise level. It was eventually lowered a bit, but still not enough to allow conversation at a table for two. No checking to see if we were comfortable, no offer to reseat us, in a now very open house. We finished and left, unsure if we will return. You can bilk the tourists all you like, but it’s the locals who come here and spend money all year round. Unless, of course, we stop. We’ve been coming here for a long time, and expected a better atmosphere, and a better attitude. I think next time we’ll just stay home.

I have several thoughts to share but may not get them all in. First of all it’s October this is your Super Bowl Oneill’s ! You should be preparing for this all year. This is an Irish Bar so naturally your food choices will be limited and basic. But that’s why we went here. Hoping for quick basic food and cold beer. Could have knitted an Irish wool sweater in the time it took to get our food!!! Two burgers and chicken fingers… Really. Try somewhere else. Probably a good spot to stop at late night for music and beer.

THE, I repeat, THE worst karaōke I have ever been to. I don’t mean the singers… although it was no American Idol… I mean the karaōke jockeys. My god, the worst. These guys did not give a crap about the entertainment they were supposed to be running. Horribly loud atmosphere. If you are looking for decent karaōke, DONOT go. Karaōke company is Landa Pappas. I would give less than one star if I could. Food wasn’t bad. Ugh.

Tried O’Neills Irish Pub & Restaurant today for lunch. Our group consisted of four Irish/American people and our friend from Japan, and all of us had a great time. Our server, Denise was friendly, attentive and handled our lunch orders like a rock star! I hope I am able to get back to this local favorite again soon.

You didn’t want it(one star) but you got it. It’s too late to apologize. Mic drop. Everything was late. So late that we actually had to cancel our food order. Asked for water twice, they never came. Asked for check so we could make it to show. Not that either. Booooo. Wish I could tell you all how the food was, but I got nothin’. This place is in the heart of Salem but can’t keep up with the Halloween crowd that visits.

Love this place. I don’t come here to eat. I just come here to drink and watch some locals raise a little hell. The staff is fantastic and the prices are the best for the Salem pub scene. Sometimes there is live music, which is reasonably well done. See you there next week!
