Hollywood Tavern

Cheap drinks, no special booze, simple and to the point dive bar. We had a blast. I wish they had better tequila buuuuuut it is a dive bar so who cares. The bartender made great tic tac bombs. No complaints. None. Will def go back.

We (party of 4) arrived at Hollywood Tavern on a cool afternoon and it did not disappoint. It was our first visit. We chose to sit out on the patio and the central fireplace warmed us perfectly and I wondered why more places do not provide this sort of ambiance. Hollywood preserves its vintage history (interior remodel preserves the original bar and wood interior) while adding practical new features (open kitchen, patio, outdoor fireplace).
The service was attentive, reliable and fast. We were allowed the space/​time for conversation in the peaceful setting. Water and beer refills were timely. The wait staff was great about recommending types of beer and food for us to order.
Tasty beer and starters arrived soon after being seated. After devouring our apps (the fries are delish) our main course soon arrived. Our burgers were cooked to order and they had the accurate proportion of bun/​meat/​add-​ins. I added an egg to mine and that is what I recommend. The wedge salad was a big hit too. When it came time for dessert, hang on to your hats, the soft serve ice cream with a shot of whiskey on the side, was to die for. I poured the whiskey over the ice cream, as the wait staff suggested and, it was amazing.

Me and the boss, aka the bf, stopped in at Hollywood Tavern after a very long Monday for a quick drink so we could regroup before heading home to the troops. We grabbed our drinks at the bar (we were carded so, as you can imagine, my ego expanded by 10 points — I know it’s the bartender’s job, just let me live this delusion that I actually look younger than 30). We went out back to the outside covered patio which is the smoker’s area, and really enjoyed sitting outside. It was a warm evening, me in jeans and a t shirt and he in shorts and t shirt.and.and it was just so relaxing and wonderful! There seemed to be a lot of regulars there but us newbies just minded our business and had a great time.

TNT Hollywood is a great place to hang out! Not a dive bar by any stretch, they pass health inspections with flying colors!
They have potluck dinners with competitions for best foods on such sporting events as the «Civil War» and the Super Bowl along with raffles with great prizes! This is a «Cheers» like atmosphere with great people and staff!

This is a dive that’s been here almost as long as I’ve been alive. If the smell of urine and vomit is your cup of tea, come here. No one will mess wtih you unless you’ve not recently showered. Lots of older dudes talking about has beens and yesteryears. You could probably get the same for a lot less if you just went to your cranky uncle’s house.

Not a bad dive. The crowd tends to be older, but that’s normal for most places like this one in salem. Only one pool table and some lottery games. Try it out.
