Love love love this place! Before experiencing this place myself I had been told by numerous coworkers it was somewhere worth stopping. If you haven’t tried Mamba you have to before leaving. Best brew ever! I believe Tuesday’s are Trivia nights which is a lot of fun and everyone usually participates. Nice classy type brewery.

Second time I’ve eaten here, wait drank here; either way great food, great beer! Nothing fancy and certainly not needed as the food and beer is what you go here for anyway, enjoy the Scottish eggs and of course the Terry Porter!

I had the firehouse burger and fell in love! I was able to clean my entire plate of all food and washed it down with the best hef I’ve ever had!(DJ jazzy hef) I wish I could buy a pallet of that hef! Glad I tried it out! I’m back in Salem and will make a point to go there again! Service was friendly, the place was clean and I love the bar! The bathroom was even amazing with a beautiful emerald counter top! Can’t say enough good stuff about Gilgamesh! My only complaint is that I wish they were in socal! My new favorite brewery is too far from me!

Oops. the waitresses are more respected here than the customers. My friend had said that he had called to see if it was ok to bring a birthday cake in and they said. no problem. They even cut it for him and served it. So… I took a cake in for a party. and they refused to cut it! I had arranged for a party of about 12 of us. what a way to show their appreciation! I was hoping to have our party there each year. but of course, I now take my business elsewhere.

I love this place. Spent a year in Salem on business and spent many a night here. The food is always good and the service personable and warm. The beers are good(not great) but they have hit it out of the park with the new campus restaurant and chef. I came back for the food — not the beer.

Thouroughly enjoyed it. Had the Fire Burger. My wife had the ravioli. We both loved it. The IPA was awesome. Just what we needed on our way through town.

What a great find in Salem! I come up here for work and have been on the look out for a nice place to stop. The Stare Fair IPA provided hints of citrus and was well balanced with the hops. I ordered the stuffed pork loin which was very comforting on a rainy day. Will definitely be back!

A little slice of Portland heaven here in sleepy Salem. I love the place in thr summer time, so I’ll be curious to see how The Campus treats me when that awesome outdoor seating isn’t the big draw. Their burgers are great… The kids menu could use a few more choices… I’d love to see them offer a sour beer on tap… Service is usually pretty good and the food fresh.

Friendly service. The oktoberfest beer and Mac attack was delicious. I especially enjoyed drinking my beer next to the cozy(gas) fireplace. Only dislike was hearing Mexican music from the open kitchen, compete with the restaurant area music.

Huge establishment that appears to host large events, and has a large back patio(that’s dog-friendly)! Came here on a weekend and there weren’t too many people there so our service was pretty quick: ordering, getting our drinks, getting our food, paying our tab. The service was really friendly and bountiful, probably because they were anticipating a larger party later in the afternoon. Not disclosed on the menu, but they do have vegan veggie patties and fried chickpeas, otherwise TONS of meat. Meh, not into that stuff. Also TONS of Tillamook cheese options. So if you like the latter two, get over here. If not, come for the beer and back patio.

This location is just beautiful. A dream of a beergarden situated near a stream. I just can’t say I would stop by again for the beer. Not bad beer but nothing as special as the location and investment they put into the operation deserves. I was thinking what a shame. I am big on attention to detail and true I can be a dick when it comes to beer and service and cleanliness of the brewery etc. Some of the reviewers pics will show you what I mean. Inconsistent pours with some having a nice head of foam and some not. Again the beer was not bad but not up to the excellent layout of the beer garden in my opinion.

I give this 5 stars primarily based on the fact it absolutely exceeded my expectations. Granted, I have purchased Gilgamesh’s beers at grocery stores and it satisfied, but the restaurant/brewery was outstanding. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. The beers were spectacular. I ordered the fish tacos and they were a bit bland, but the experience called for nothing less than 5. Though my friend had the shiitake burger and tasty fries that were a smashing pair!

Beerboy’s review pretty much sums it up for me(we were together). I was not impressed that they service was so slow and lackadaisical. It was also a bummer that they were out of a couple beers(the ones we wanted to try, of course). They messed up our salads so I let the server know that that some of the ingredients were missing. She brought us egg and feta(as a sub for the gorgonzola they were out of). She also said something to the degree of how the kitchen made the mistake but the servers always are the ones that have to deal with it. That comment bugged me. While we were disappointed about how things were not up to par, we were never rude to her. She brought us our bill and did not offer any comps. We paid and I left feeling like they couldn’t care less about their customers.

I’m torn between giving this place ¾ stars. I chose this place because I wanted to try their cubano sandwich and their outdoor seating. Outdoor seating: 9 out of 10. Cubano sandwich: 3 out of 10. Who serves a cubano on a ciabatta roll? I felt like everything they served was on a ciabatta roll. Yuck. Too much bread, dry, tough. Not at all impressed. I wasn’t too impressed with my friends meal either as I can’t even remember what they had. Drinks were good. I see this as a good gathering place for large groups looking to have some drinks and appetizers. The main attraction for me is the awesome outdoor seating. I have only been once, but I will definitely give it another try.

Eff this place. I’m done. Shot service, and the food gave me the shits an hour after I left. Slow and food wasn’t hot. Grrrr… tires of this. Done

1star-5star Updated review: Amy the manager made up for the mishap exponentially with comping our drinks, a $ 6 gift certificate and being wonderful In aiding our dining experience. Will be back. Thank you Sat outside for 30 minutes without anyone walking up to us. Bad news gilgamesh. Great location, love the sand bag toss game outside is awesome, awesome backdrop soothing sounds of the creek and wooden everything. Need a sign for the side of the road though… 1 star is being generous.

first let’s say I’ve eaten here over five or six times. I’m not sure why but the food here is just really a touch below average. they have spent a lot of money on doing things here but the kitchen really doesn’t make it. we like the location. they make very nice beer. but doesn’t fall in line with the quality of the good beer they make here. lastly when you can look into the kitchen and seeing staff in the kitchen, eating food it’s not good. I say drink a beer or two and leave the food to someone else. this isn’t it.

I want to like Gilgamesh, I really do. And I do my part, with enthusiasm. But, they don’t. Sure, it’s a nice place with pretty wood. But, it stops there. The smokey porter was mediocre. The quesadilla was food, and that’s about it. A decent PB and J would have been a more rewarding experience. The bartender and waitress tonight seemed nice enough, but I had to tell them that my food was sitting in the window waiting to be delivered to me. To make that worse, some Gilgamesh employee dude was through with his shift, was sitting at the bar, and totally saw my dilemma. But, he did nothing to assist, even though he could have just told the bartender my food was ready. Finally I yelled out to the waitress, who finally got my food and apologized by saying they get tunnel vision when it’s late(it was 8:30PM). I get tunnel vision when I’m hungry and my food is waiting to be delivered and it’s not. Finally, they overcharged me for my food, saying it was $ 12.50 when it should have been $ 10.50. I wasn’t given a check, so I had to grab a menu and figure it out for myself. Then I had to explain it to the bartender. All in all… ridiculously mediocre food and beer, and bad service to boot. My guess is that this place is bankrolled by some guy with money who fancies himself a brewer. He’s welcome to live out his fantasy, but he won’t be seeing my face around there anymore. Addendum: next day… my tummy feels icky.

I’d wanted to check out Gilgamesh for forEVER and finally had a chance to during my holiday trip back home. A group of us had lunch inside near their huge fireplace, which was perfect on a rainy December day. Their outdoor patio is pretty though. I had an awesome grilled four-cheese sandwich on Cascade Baking Company’s locally baked sourdough($ 8). It was served with perfect fresh cut fries in a huge portion and upon request, I had a tasty ramekin of their filbert lager aioli to dip in. My sandwich was so large, I could only eat half but my husband had no trouble helping me finish it. Others enjoyed salad, mac and cheese(made with Oedipus IPA), burgers and sandwiches, all of which sounded, looked and smelled wonderful. They have quite an extensive menu and I hard a hard time choosing what to order. In addition to the food being perfect, hot damn I loved a ton of their beers! My brother and I each ordered a 6-taster flight so between us we had a lot of variety to sample. Favorites of mine included the aforementioned filbert lager, Mamba(black tea, rye and tangerine oh my!) and their bourbon barrel aged porter. I also loved their jasmine hefe(called DJ Jazzy Hef, ha ha), their copper, the scotch ale and black IPA. Didn’t like the Ryenapple sour though the name was hilarious and it’s definitely different(I just don’t like sours). We ordered an appetizer that wasn’t brought out but we forgot all about it anyway and we weren’t charged for it. Didn’t purchase any bottled beers at lunch but was stoked to see bombers of Mamba and Vader(the black IPA) for sale at the Made in Oregon store at PDX. I stuffed my carry-on tote with as many bottles as I could fit — score!

Came for their music that is played out on their patio. very mellow spot to just kick back and enjoy summer breezes. We only had drinks so I cannot say too much about the food though they had some good options on the menu. Speaking of drinks, I had me a «Beer Knees». well ok I had a few Beer Knees. Mixed drink of aviation gin, lemon, honey, DJ Jazzy Hef and soda. Very thirst quenching and great combo of flavors. I don’t drink much beer as it just makes me feel full so this was a perfect compromise. Also they use my favorite gin so how could it not be good right?
