I’ve always thought their pizza here was very good until I got one with 2 out of 4 ingredients missing(garlic and mushrooms) and 3 items missing from an Antipasto salad,(artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and prosciutto). They«made up» for it by giving me $ 2.00 off a chicken parm sub next time I went(only to remind them of their screw up). The owner didn’t want to hear about it(my complaint) and passed it on to one of his workers. So haven’t been for at least 9 months and decided to try it again the other day when my «ex» helped me after major surgery and we needed to get something to eat. He mentioned«my» place next door, Fran & Diane’s and I said, their Italian sub is probably pretty awesome since they advertise it on their window and their chicken parm was good. Well, what has happened to Fran & Diane’s??? I was never so embarrassed when my «ex» opened his sub and laughed. We both got Italians, mine with pickles and onions, his with tomatoes and onions and they were the skimpiest, smallest subs this side of Subway. We both asked each other where do we want to go to eat after we both ate our subs, we were still hungry. I’m giving only two stars cause I can walk there, but will probably not be stopping in again any time soon.

Last night is the last time I will ever order from Fran and Diane’s.the time before our order took almost two hours to be delivered. And even though I was not happy, I decided to give them another chance since we have orderd many many times from here with great success… this time, it took an hour and 45 minutes… we knew they must be busy because they said it would take over an hour… but not this long!!! my iceberg wedge came with no tomatoes and no dressing… which means half the ingredients were misssing. the fries were soggy and not hot. when I called to tell them about the wedge, I was told sorry but they have been busy. frankly, should not have been my problem. then, I was asked if Iwanted them to bring me some dressing… right., and wait another hour. NEVERAGAIN!!! DONOTORDERFROMHERE!!!

Went here and got 1 slice of cheese pizza. Pretty good, no complaints. Ready very fast, even offered slices at night time. My friend said she has never heard a bad thing about this place, so I’m surprised there are so many bad reviews. My review is actually 3.5 out of 5 because it was delicious but not anything special. Glad the slices are big too.

I just moved from Salem and I’ll miss having this place around the corner: I wish I tried more items! Fran takes PRIDE in his work; on multiple occasions he would open the pizza box to show me the pie before I took it home. Once I had him make a pesto pizza with cheese and shrimp on it and it was BEYONDEXCELLENT. Their BBQ Chicken Pizza and Pesto pizzas were my mainstays there. I wasn’t used to so much cornmeal on the bottom of the crustm but that didn’t bother me. Every time the pizza was hot, fresh, and delicious.

I was very excited for this pizza. I saw lots of good reviews and chose to ignore the bad ones. I should have gone with the bad ones. I got Fran’s favorite and was very disappointed. The prosciutto was chopped into ity bity pieces and stacked on itself rather than sprinkled around the pizza. The pizza was overcooked and very salty with too much grated cheese being put on top. The only reason this gets 2 stars is that even slightly overcooked the crust and pizza was still soft enough to enjoy. I may try another item from them in the future. If my feelings are different I will update my review, if not then it will stay the same.

Consistently good food. Love their chicken jerk sandwich, Greek salad, and Cobb salad, and breadsticks are amazing!

Fran & Diane’s is an awesome pizza and sandwich spot. Great pizza, especially the BBQ chicken. I like the use of BBQ sauce instead of a red sauce & the caramelized onions are a nice touch. Plenty of delicious sandwiches to choose from as well, the franwich is messy, but incredible. The chicken fingers are crisp and work well in the sub! Atmosphere is nice, the employees are friendly and have good character!

What a way to run your«mom and pop» business as you just referenced on the phone. After ordering two pizzas to be delivered and waiting over 90 minutes for them without a trace, a phone call explaining the reason would have been the best gesture to remediate the situation. In the least. We decided to phone this establishment to inquire about our pizzas. This is where the fun begins. The mouth on the other end should understand that a loyal customer base is how«mom and pops» stay in business. So first, do not berate the customer and place blame on them for hanging up the phone when ordering when you’re the none who did so. Second, when a customer is asking for the pizzas to still be delivered, being kind enough to wait even further for your mistake, a 15% discount is rather a joke for two pizzas. We asked to have one gratis and pay for one. AND, you had the gull to place us on hold while figuring out this situation saying«I have other customers to deal with». You couldn’t believe this was happening because you think it only happens on the tube. But guessing screenwriters do take real-life situations and then turn such situations into lines for a script.

I tried this place at the urging of an employee who recently jumped ship from another place in town. Not too sure if I made the right choice! When I called to order, I had to listen to the kid on the phone argue with the guy in the back over whether or not they have any bread sticks. I ordered the Cobb Salad & the bread sticks. It got here and it was just«OK». The bread sticks definitely tasted«defrosted» then reheated. The cobb salad was decent size, but there was hardly any chicken in it. I will say that the salad was tasty, but lacking in the main ingredient!!! I will consider trying the pizza, as i hear it has great pizza. Definitely think the salads are over priced and the guy in the background needs to relax

During a week long summer class at Salem State, I came across Fran and Diane’s restaurant through Unilocal and decided to try it for lunch because of the reviews. I came here twice and ordered spaghetti fra diavolo and a meatball sub. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve tasted fresh homeade meatballs before, but the sub was not too satisfying. The fra diavolo was much spicier than other places I’ve tried, which I liked, but it was still lacking a wow factor like the meatballs.

If I could give no stars I would. One of the owners, ‘Fran’ was one of the rudest business owners I’ve ever met. My fiancé and I went into F&D’s maybe twice before and they had always taken a while to make the food(waiting 30+ min for basic food) but we are not that picky so long as the food comes out right. The last time we went(and it will be the last time) they took over 40 min to make 2 slices of pizza and a panini THEN when we get the food the pizza is stale looking and burnt /the panini was fine. Fran offered to make new slices but we had already spent 40 min waiting we weren’t going to wait 20 more minutes(if not longer) for 2 more slices. He didn’t charge us for the pizza but he unnecessarily up-charged us on items on the panini even though I removed the meat. When I first ordered my food he said«modifications are free of charge.» When I went up to confront him about the charges he was rude and dismissive then when I repeated back to him what he said he about modifications he claimed he was«kidding» — You do not kid about charges on menu items if you are running a business. He then essentially threw $ 2 at me and said«I don’t have time for this» and continued to talk to the other gentlemen behind the counter mocking us while we are still standing at the counter. I calmly asked him why he is treating his customers like this and he continually mocked us and said to leave and that even though we where calmly talking to him about the situation he said he was going to «call the cops to have us removed» I was all but shocked and speechless honestly. How do you treat customers like that? You where wrong, admit that you are wrong and move on… don’t openly mock your customers in front of them. Bad business breathes bad business. I will not be back nor will I ever recommend Fran & Diane’s to anyone I know. I would rather give my money to good business owners who take pride in customer service and treating people with respect.

My fiancé and i waited 50 minutes for our food after ordering INSTORE. I ordered 2 slices of pizza while she wanted a modified veggie panini. Fran himself made the sandwich incredibly slowly while filling orders of people who walked in AFTER us. In the end I was served 2 severely burned slices that looked day old and dry. The panini came out good… but unfortunately we were charged 11.50 for it after being told upon first entering that«modifications are free of charge» by the owner himself. When we complained NICELY I might add, we were told to leave, rudely and told«i was kidding» in regards to the free substitution offer. The panini was a modified. Originally it was an eggplant, roasted peppers and prochutto. My fiancé asked for no meat and to add goat cheese and spinach. He charged 1.75 for the cheese and 75 cents for spinach… after telling us modifications were free(with a smile). When he was rude to my fiancé and began complaining to his employee about us in our presence, I insisted that his attitude needed to change and that I expected better since I had very much enjoyed their food on a previous visit. In response, I was told by Fran that if we did not leave, he would call the cops to have us removed. We only expected to be treated as customers should be in any restaurant… With respect. I will never eat there again and will be sure to tell everyone I know here in Salem not to either. Great job being a complete asshole to your customers Fran. I hope your«just kidding» and pride were worth it in the moment.

Great for a quick bite and some of the best pizza ive had in the area. Great thin crust style with fresh toppings. However the pizza is definitely the stand out with other menu items falling a bit short. Last time I went i ordered fried mozzarella sticks and fried ravioli. Both were a bit under cooked and service was a bit slow. Calling ahead is a must, unless you have time to kill. However the menu is diverse and has something for everyone. That being said the staff is very friendly and it is a comfortable atmosphere. Prices are reasonable.

Great pizza. But they should update the menu on their website. It says they close at 9 on Monday’s, so I waited and called to order a carry out order at 8, and they were already closed. Poor form.

By far the best pizza in the Salem-Beverly area. If you are looking for thin crust, great sauce, and great toppings, go here. The owners watch their help carefully, and put out a quality product. Great work!

The pizza was really good, generous toppings and crispy crust. The antipasto salad was awesome but it wasn’t what I expected. The salad had big chunks of cheese and cold cuts instead of the rolled up meat and cheese you get other places. Not sure what the hours are supposed to be but I feel like Ive called and gotten voicemail a few times. And I’ve def called for delivery and was told they only deliver during certain times of the day. If I didn’t believe this place had all around good food I probably wouldn’t ever try again.

I’m eating it now as we speak… or I write… I think the quality of the food is amazing. best pizza in the City of Salem. Good thin crust and just enough sauce and cheese. I do have a major problem with this place though… the service over the telephone is terrible as is the hours of operation. I brought as friend in from town to try the pizza and they close at 8 pm sharp. Which is ok I understand that they have their hours and I need to fit into them but when i called to order delivery they said they we not taking delivery orders any more it was 720 and they close at 8. Do they not want my business. I guess they don;t so I had to drive over which I did but I was going to order another pizza and other food but they missed out on that because of their in ability to serve me. If you don’t want to deliver, don;t offer it. or put on your web site last delivery order 7PM and not that this is an isolated incident, this has happened on other occasions from other friends. I will go back because the food is so good but I won’t order on the regular because it seems as if they don;t want my business. they also would have received five stars.

Food here is decent. Tried a chicken parm sub, that was OK at best, a little weird flavor wise. Rigatoni with meatballs was good, and a pizza, which was also good. The rigatoni came with breadsticks and a salad. The breadsticks were terrible. I might have broken a tooth on them. The salad, on the other hand, was surprisingly good. It was a nice mixed green, with several veggies, cuke, tomatoes, red onion, olives, homemade croutons. It seemed like there was some effort there. My biggest problem with Fran & Diane’s is that they over charged me for the pizza. I got home and looked at the receipt and realized I paid for a three topping when all I got was a two topping. Additionally, I was asked if I wanted the sub toasted, said yes, and was given an untoasted sub. If not for those things I’d have given another star or two.
