Terrible! Poorly organized, the guy was really late for my appointment and he looked weird– glassy eyed and slurring his words. My hair looked like straw afterwards. Run, don’t walk away from this place!

I was in visiting for family photos and realized that I desperately needed a touch-up. I was happy with the quality of service and it seemed relatively affordable, but I also live in a city where things cost much more. so I’m probably not the best gage for this. They were easy to fit me into an appointment for a weekend, which was nice. I was a little shocked when I went up to pay with a credit card and was told(directly, without prior notification) that I needed to give gratuity with a personal check or cash and that they weren’t allowed to put tips on the card with the rest of my service charge. I had to pay for my hair with a credit card and then run to the bank and take out cash for the tip and then drive back to the salon. If stylists don’t want to claim and/or want to wait for their tips to come out of a check or the salon doesn’t want to eat the transaction fee– they should probably a) put a sign up and let customers know when they make appointments(although, I still think this is not a favorable option) b) make the executive decision to do cash only. It really puts a damper on the professional appearance, which is disappointing because the quality of the work is fine. If you are looking for a place that will do a nice job with your hair and can make your coloring look natural, this is a good option. I would just suggest bringing cash to avoid an inconvenience.

I’m a huge Carrington’s fan and thats all that really needs to be said. Dakota has cut my hair once(and did a great job) but Mindy has been cutting my hair for several months now. The décor in the salon is really hip and the high ceilings make the place look HUGE. The stories that are told in there will have you laughing and smiling if you have any sense of humor. Its moderately priced for such a nice salon, but the stylists and their haircuts keep me coming back for more. Although it looks young and trendy, I’ve seen people of all ages in there. Ask them for recommendations — trust me, they know what they are talking about.

Carrington’s, located in the adorable town of Salem, VA, was a wonderful salon experience. The day of a wedding, the salon appointments can either make or break your day. If you have a bad experience(ie. rude stylists, unmanagable hair, overcharging) you might as well not even get married! No, seriously, a bad experience can put quite a damper on a day for a bride. Carrington’s was great. Lynda had juice and donuts for us when we got there. She was timely, welcoming, and very accomodating. There was a mix up when the appointments were made and there were more heads to be beautified than stylists. Either way, we were all seen. Jen came in after getting help with her four girls and she was assigned me, Cassie, and the flower girl Rylee. Now, if you know me, you know I’ve got a $&*tload of hair. Thick, curly, and long. And Cassie, well it’s not curly, but it’s thick and long. Poor Jen. The bride and her family were very high stress that morning and the staff did an excellent job staying calm and keeping people calm. That right there– BIGUPS to them. When all was said and done– everyone had great hair and I was charged on $ 45 my ‘do. Good deal! Check out Carrington’s. It a pretty hip place for such a small town.
