One of the best places to get good craft beer and cider in Salem. Huge selection of refrigerated brews, more on the shelves, knowledgeable staff, open late, plenty of parking, convenient location, what is not to love about Capital Market?

if it were a review based on the booze selection alone it would get 5 stars, EASY. but its on the whole market. The Good: The location is pretty convenient, being pretty central in town, youre basically only 1 minutes from it in any direction without heavy traffic. the beer selection is CRAZY! I get my husband«bouquets of beer» when hes had a rough week at work, or its an anniversary or something, usually a variety of different craft beers. I love the local beer selection specifically. I love to support local businesses and Oregon does beer best anyway soooooo there ya go. The Bad: I dont like the smut sitting right by the register. put it somewhere else. the selection of other things isnt that great. but honestly, who gpes to capital market for tampons and cereal? no. you come here for the beer. but«beer emporium» or «beer warehouse» sounds trashy so they just call it a market. while the location is central which is good for people in all parts of town, the neighborhood isnt the best.

I would say about 3.5 stars. As a convenience store, this place is pretty lousy. I wouldn’t shop here for anything(save, of course, beer) unless truly desperate. The beer selection is pretty good. They cover all types of beer drinkers, too. If you want some cheap macro swill in bulk, you can grab that. If you’re more of a craft beer aficionado, you’ll be pretty satisfied. There’s nothing here that’s super rare, but you’ll find quite a bit of local stuff. Definitely seems like the place to stop if you’re in Salem. But if you’re really interested in checking out some beer, you’ll be better off heading up to Portland.

Don’t let its looks deceive you. Great selection of domestic beers at great prices! Being in the PNW, you had better like hoppy beers since that is what 80% of them seemed to have. Good selection of international beers as well, loved the Belgium options. All their beer is refrigerated and most of it comes in 22oz bottles, which greatly outnumber the 6-packs and cans(a good thing). Location is easy to and there is lots of parking. They also have a World Cup Soccer pinball machine if you’re a pinball buff. Not the greatest machine, but it’s there if you want something to take your mind off of all those delicious, delicious brews.

So much beer! This place doesn’t look that large or unique from the outside. The inside, however, is a different story. I’ve never seen the selection of beer they have here anywhere else. Categorized by region, they have craft beer from around the world. The aisles carry single 22 oz bottles, and the coolers house cases. If you’re looking for an unknown or new beer, try the Capital Market.

I am doing some work in Salem for the State of Oregon. I stopped in the Capital Market after work today. They really have a nice selection of beers. While I was looking Mike came over to talk to me. He is a homebrewer like me so we had a fun conversation. I told him what I was looking for. He said he would see if he can pick some up for me. I gave him my card and told him to email me if can find some as I will be back next week. He responded later this evening to tell me someone else in town that has the beer in stock and that he was still going to see if he can get some. So if they don’t have what you are looking for ask for Mike. Maybe he can get it.

Best beer selection in town and it’s not even close. Owners are friendly and while not in the greatest neighborhood it’s well worth the trip!

This place is like a time warp. It is so creepy that I find it entertaining. Huge beer selection, greasy deli stuff, porn, colorful clientele, and an interesting owner that seems to have been there since Ike was president.

If you like Cold Beer this is your place. They have the largest section of beer in Salem and its all cold! You name the brand they have it. They are always adding more. They building look like you’re going to be robbed but don’t let it fool you. They also have a great hot food deli.

This place is grimy, not in the best neighborhood, and doesn’t have much to recommend it.* *If you care about craft beer at all, you must, must, must go here. They have 36 glass doors worth of refrigerated beer(I counted), labeled by state or country of origin. They also have a two-sided shelf stretching about a hundred feet with even more beer. Singles, bombers, six packs, cases, cheap beer, craft beer, local beer, imported beer, it’s ALL there. Hell, they have more different cans/bottles of Guinness than some stores have different beers! Hands down the best bottle shop in Salem.

I know this place looks like a dump from the outside, but hear me out: This place has the biggest beer selection in Salem. That’s really an accomplishment, considering that Salem doesn’t have anything to brag about. I’ve only seen one place that had a bigger selection, and it was in Portland. So if you L-O-V-E good microbrews, head here. Now about the dumpiness of the place, you gotta love it. If you’re not a beer lover you’ll be wandering the super short, old and dingy aisles while your beer loving comrades drool over the beer selection. What you’ll find is a plethora of out-dated spices, greeting cards, condiments, etc. It’s almost like visiting an antique store. You’ll likely be simultaneously shocked and amused at the faded boxes of discontinued cereals and crackers. This store isn’t a great place to do your weekly grocery shopping, and I assume that the owner knows what people really come here for, so he wastes no effort on stocking the place with fresh produce and unspoiled mayo. The only bad part about this place is that the neighborhood looks shabby and I often wonder if I’ll be robbed on my way out. Not to worry though, because I’m fairly certain there’s a shot-gun or two behind the counter.
