Big Sal’s Superior Barber Shop and Shave Lounge

Excellent work. Never been disappointed. I don’t know what else to write. Unilocal is telling me to write more so I have to.

I am sorry I have to leave an «A-​OK» but I must be objective.
I first came here at the end of no-​shave-​November and a bit of don’t-shave-December (2014) for a steam shave. That time, my experience was extremely positive. I was taken quickly, and the shave was extremely comfortable.
When I repeated the no-​shaving thing in 2015, I came here, and took my dad too who had a few days growth (and not ~55 days like me). The wait was substantial, even though there were very few guys in the shop, we waited over an hour to be taken.
This time, the shave was not as pleasant. Before, they did use a shaving oil that was never re-​ordered, but I don’t think that was the only thing that contributed to a less comfortable shave (what others I have no way of knowing). Barber was thorough to make sure he didn’t miss any spots.
My dad agreed that the shave wasn’t spectacular, and had a few nicks on his skin.
In terms of haircuts, I decided to go with a more «surprise me» approach than to specify exactly what I want. I got a good haircut, and I liked it at the time, but when I got home (read hair dried) the style was, in my opinion, from the 50s! (I have kept it though)
They really, I mean REALLY, take their time. I understand that haircuts and shaves cannot be rushed, but this time especially they were extraordinarily slow.
If I repeat no-​shave November, I may return for a shave. However, I will keep going to my regular barber for haircuts. She cuts hair much quicker than this barber shop, while maintaining precision and accuracy in her work.

Got a great cut and shave from Sal, nice relaxed experience, he knew exactly what I wanted and gave me the cut I was after. The shave was amazing, although I was just getting my beard cleaned up and trimmed, I got the whole experience.
I hate getting my hair cut, and usually loath the whole experience. I usually hate every cut I ever get! But this time, I think I’ve found my barber!

This is my regular barber shop. Every two weeks, without fail, I come here to get my hair looking the sharpest.
Sal and his crew are not only skilled artists, but offer a comfortable environment that will keep you coming back. This is the revival of old school barber shops that some of us knew as kids. Straight razor shaves and edging, and detailed precision cuts.
If you don’t come here, you’re wrong.
