The roads leading here are beautiful; a mix of country, farm, and forested landscape. The farm store is simple yet offers a nice selection of their own and guest products. As you’re browsing you’ll be able to hear production work in the rear. There was nobody working when I came, so the honor system was in effect — with a cash drawer to leave your payment and make change. The prices here are truly at a farm-to-consumer level, which I greatly appreciate. They offer many dairy products and have a glass exchange program if you prefer your dairy in glass. Other products include frozen meats and local coffee, for example. I’m not sure what the hours of the ice cream service are, but I’m sure it’s as fresh as it gets.

Great ice cream on a nice Dairy Farm but the flavor selections are a little limited… There were only like 10 flavors to choose from. They do have a nice variety of sundaes, shakes and floats though. Service was fast and friendly. There are plenty of tables outside to sit and enjoy your treat on a nice day. I liked their sign too…“From our cows to your cone”

We were introduced to this milk by a home-delivery company that promptly failed. Now I discover I can get it at the Meat Market in Summit, NJ. Simply the best milk ever. One caveat: They sell whole cream-on-the-top milk but my wife doesn’t like the consistency.

I liked being able to meet the cows(and pet the babies) whose milk I would be drinking and eating in ice cream. I loved the vanilla ice cream and the chocolate milk was divine. There is nothing like country tucker.

It’s a creamery: the products are good and there’s a great selection beyond milk; cheeses and yogurts. The ice cream is delicious and reasonably priced. Everyone who works there is friendly. Not sure what else there is to say, if you’re in the area and want some awesome dairy products or to get a sundae, stop by!

I tried the famous chocolate milk a couple times but still didn’t like it as much as I would have love to. I can taste the additive and that puts me off. However, their cream top milk is really good. It reminds me of mil from when I was a kid. A must try! They are at the Troy and Schenectady Farmer’s market.

Everything from BVC I have ever had has been amazing. Their eggnog is to die for. The Meat House carries their products, so if you are in Clifton Park or Toga there is an easy place to grab them from.

Chocolate milk! I was looking for a substitute for my favorite brand of chocolate milk(the truly sad part about moving: finding comparative local products!) and I’ve *almost* found in with BVC’s milk. If only it didn’t taste a little off from the additives, I’d be completely satisfied. Their other milks are good as well, and they have ice cream too!

Chocolate milk, chocolate milk, chocolate milk. The other milk is excellent as well, but the chocolate milk. I’ve also had the ice cream, just a couple flavors. The vanilla is incredible — not just sweet but you can actually taste vanilla.

We visited Battenkill Creamery over a hot summer weekend in August. We’re from Brooklyn NY and were going for a farm weekend — local produce, fresh, clean food, the works. So when we heard that there was a local creamery — with ice cream available! — we HAD to visit. It was a bit of a mixed bag. Good things: They had delicious and inexpensive grass-fed beef in a freezer in the store, and great looking cheese(although i didn’t try any), as well as charming service. Apparently they also offer factory tours, but there’s a minimum of 12 people so me and my husband couldn’t just go. Unfortunately, though, the chocolate milk was only so-so, tasting a little bit of the additives(carageenan as an emulsifier, i guess), and their ice cream was dicey — a lot of additives in the more flavorful ones, although the vanilla looked pretty good and the chocolate was tasty(and mostly additive free.) Ultimately, i wish they could use fewer additives and chemicals so that I could more fully enjoy the local creamery goodness. But I’m glad they’re in business, and i bought some grass fed beef patties to make yummy burgers with!

I love Battenkill chocolate milk! It’s even better when it comes in old-fashioned glass bottles. We first found their milk and cream at the Beacon Farmers Market, but the distributor left. Now, I found them at the Cold Spring Farmers Market through a different distributor. Woohoo!
