U-Haul – Saint Petersburg

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I rented at 10′ truck with a full car carrier on Feb 12^th, 2016. I came back the next day Saturday to have my car carrier hooked up with my car to drive cross country 2300 miles away to Glendale, California. Somewhere between Las Vegas and our drop off in Glendale our strap that goes around the tire fell off. When I arrived at the UHaul in Glendale they pointed out that the strap fell off during our travels and the chains weren’t even secure. I was completely sick to my stomach. All the money I spent on this trip hauling my brand new car and for it not to even be secured is beyond scary. The steep mountains and wind that occurs with this drive is scary enough and to know that my car could have flown off the trailer and killed someone or myself and my family is completely unacceptable! I will be emailing uHaul corporate but I want people to be aware of the guys at this location. Clearly they have no clue as to what they are doing because this should NEVER HAVE HAPPENED! I am so sick over this matter and am just so happy that we all arrived safely. Please if you rent from them that you make sure this is hooked up correctly. Because they next person may not be that lucky.

Set up a one way trailer rental, this location told me there were only two places no where near my final destination to return. So I called corporate and was told I could leave it at a closer location. After doing so, I am now told it will be 3 times the original cost and I still have to go back and tow it to a different city.

Ok, so I completely understand there are times when a business can get busy, but when we rented a trailer one Saturday morning at the end of the month (which we know is probably one of the busiest times) there was ONE not particularly friendly person on duty and a line out the door. I waited 30 minutes for a trailer I had reserved online, and there was no apology or explanation whatsoever. Renting something from U-​Haul is never fast or easy, even online, but — good grief! — the level of disorganization here didn’t help at all. People weren’t even sure where to line up. Adequate and friendly staff, better organization, chairs and possibly a little coffee would go a long ways toward making this experience more bearable.
