Location location location. Great place to take a date; it’s right on the waters of old Tampa Bay. There’s enough parking, and it’s easy to get to if you’re coming from Tampa or St. Pete. I didn’t eat, but the drinks were pretty standard and there were plenty of options. If you have a boat, you can pull it up and dock it on site. All in all, an above average tiki bar with a really cool setting.

The name says it all! I went to the Getaway in January and actually forgot that I wasn’t on vacation for a sec. Its semi-isolated location right on the bay makes for a great spot to grab a drink and some eats after work, or to just to kick back on a Saturday afternoon. Totally relaxed atmosphere. They’ve also hosted events in the past; luaus with drink specials on every night with a full moon! Not sure if they still do this, but it doesn’t get more fun than that. I haven’t been there since they starting serving food(only food trucks at the time, which were awesome too) but I’ve been itching to go back since. Will definitely be back soon!

Tropical paradise! Love this beach bar! Super chill vibe. Tons of parking for cars and boats. Live music on the weekends. Cute sand toys and games for kids: giant sized Jenga and connect four.

Destination Bar/Restaurant! The perfect distance for al of Tampa Bay! I love the island/resort feel of this awesome new location. They have a great selection of beers, a unique/large collection of signature cocktails, and the food is sooooooo good. All of this in combination with the views and optional paddleboarding, make it one of the TOP bars in Tampa Bay

I was here on a mini-date(don’t ask how it went) but love the location, the view and the service of this place! The location is prime rel estate on a mangrove right before you jump onto the Grandy Bridge. Plenty of outdoor parking and next door to this place. There are a number of mixed drinks to have but I had their tap colleciton of Blue Moon and Key West(delicious). For the appetizer I had the cocconut shrimp(good but little pricey for five-six). There are games to be played if you bring the younger crowd or even adults with Jenga, connect-four and a stage for bands on the weekend. Even the bathrooms are only a few feet away and conveniently located next to the foauntains(beautiful fountain). Unfortunately my date did not go as planned but there isn’t a doubt in my mind that I will return to this awesome place and might even attempt paddle boarding one day!

I may be drunk, I may be in love, but surely I am drunk in love with the Getaway. Our waitress wearing sunglasses was well equipped. The sun was glorious especially this time of year. Not too humid. We ordered Key West Rickeys and Mai Tais. I can only speak to the Mai Tai as being just right for the occasion. We chilled under shade overlooking the pier. Watched boats anchored and a few paddle boarders(grinding on that wood) pass though our zen like state. We caught up watching the sun set, no lie for 5 hours(remember to tip accordingly). We ordered 2 dozen local oysters and calamri. This was the ideal way I reintroduced a friend to Tampa(well St. Pete, our more attractive cousin). I highly recommend everything. P. S. No more food trucks, whole **new** stand-out menu. They are killin’ it!

Really cool place I would have never thought a place like that would have existed right by a big road. The sand was super soft and the view was awesome. The food was okay, I wish I asked for no mustard on my fried oyster roll. We also ordered tacos and the corn tortillas were so stale you could use it as paper but the fish was okay. The chips are to die for though, they are the main reason I’m giving this place 4 stars, they put sugar on them and they were fried to perfection and delicious.

What I think is so great about this place is, it feels like you’re not where you are. As soon as you pass the barrier of the parking lot you’re in another world of Rum and Coke, fruity drinks and beautiful scenery. It’s a great Florida experience on the water off the side of the highway, just right there. When I don’t feel like driving another half hour to a beach. There’s all kinds of boats and you can actually go into the water if you like or fish or play oversized connect four or maybe some ping/pong? Or just sit at the bar or on the edge of the water under a palm tree? The staff has always been super nice to me here. I wish I could name drop the hottie bartender with the blond hair but after a few drinks, who’s remembering names. The food is standard pub fare, which is great also after a few of those drinks! I am in serious like with this place and I’m sure you will be also. They do allow dogs on certain days also so check ahead of time! And once again, I’m sure people might think this is weird but the bathrooms are clean and it means a lot. I’m talking about the fixtures, the floor will be sandy cause, you know… it’s a beach. I was just here a few days ago sitting under a palm bar having a drink listening to a guy play great songs on Ukulele and watching the sun go down. It made my day. It will yours also. Have a burger in paradise, right off the highway, beyond the parking lot.

We had such a fantastic time having a few drinks(Dark & Stormy’s are the best I’ve ever had!) and some interesting apps. Jalapeño’s stuffed with brisket and wrapped in bacon(yum!), pineapple BBQ chicken wings(sticky fingers!) and the ahi tuna salad(tuna was good, but salad was pretty average). I will definitely return and hang out in the sand to just relax and meet some nice people.

We came in around sundown to have a few beers and chill for a while. Initially we sat down by the water, the setting is fantastic, but the bug situation was unreal. Even the server said she had to load up on bug spray like 5 times a day! So we quickly cashed out with her and went up to sit at the bar. While the bartender was pretty friendly, he didn’t seem to interested in keeping our beers full. I easily sat for 20 minutes with an empty cup. At one point he was walking around on his phone in plain view of the bar that had a good 10 – 15 people at it. I definitely would have drank more and stayed longer, but after he finally got me another beer, we were kind of over it. The setting and view are great, but I doubt we’ll be back.

The Getaway is a cool spendy new Key West style tiki bar off Gandy next to IC Sharks just over the bridge in St Petersburg. I don’t frequent the Gandy area of St Pete much because it’s a bit Redneck with the dog track but when I heard this place opened i had to check it out. There is usually live music or a DJ. People can dock their boats or pull up their kayaks or paddleboards on the sand. Urban Kai offers paddleboarding rentals here for $ 35 per hour and kayaks for $ 25 per hour. There are two bars and plenty of seating with views of the water. The bartender Kristen was very nice and attentive. They have a large selection of tropical cocktails for $ 9: the Painkiller, Key West Rickey, Getaway Margarita, Skinny Coconut breeze cooler, Mai Tai, Cabbage Key Creeper, Mojito, Hemingway Daiquiri, Sunsetter, Islamorada, Banana Caipirinha, Swizzle, Macdill Grog, Dark N Stormy, Pins Colada, Strawberry Daiquiri, and $ 11 Zombie. I had the hurricane and Macdill grog and they were pretty good. I have to detract a star as $ 9 per drink and $ 6 for wells is a bit pricey. I also have to detract a star for the parking lot. It is terribly sandy and bumpy. The beach isn’t large enough for lounging out, just sitting. Will have to come back to try their new food menu. Thanks! :)

Feels like vacation and only 9 minutes away from my office :) This is one of my Tampa hot spots. Weather you go during a Sunday afternoon or Friday evening after work you’re bound to have a great time. The drinks are good and typically on the stronger side. The crowd is laid back and diverse. For food I’m a big fan of the grouper nuggets off the kids meal which rivals grouper meals I’ve had at real sit down restaurants. Certinan days they have a food truck carousal which I adore… get to try yummy food trucks without having to deal with the farmer market/food truck rally crowd? Score! Bonus points for being one of the best beach hideaways spots that you don’t have to go all the way to the coast for.

Good spot here! What I really like is that there are multiple seating areas and two bars. So you can spread out — nice view and you feel like you’re away from it all a little bit. Driving past on Gandy — the view is way better than expected. They have rental paddle boards available — so fun! And a great stage for music, life size jenga, boardwalk seating, spots for boats to pull up, list keeps going. They recently expanded into food too and we had lunch today. Good food, definitely hit the spot, plenty of menu options — maybe a bit high in prices but not outrageous by any means. Service was great, quick and friendly. We will be back!

Had an amazing time here yesterday afternoon/evening. The music and vibe were awesome. There is plenty of seating throughout the place. It overlooks the water and boats docked. After getting some corona lites on draft and a couple of shots, I finally decided to order some food. I ordered fish tacos. They were amazing. Some kind of homemade chips with them as well that were equally delicious. We sat at the back bar, and the 2 bartenders, Tyson and Kristen were great! They were attentive and social. The DJ, Tony, was playing a great variety of music that just made everything perfect. Also met a lot of friendly locals and just had a great time here. It’s definitely chill and relaxing. Highly recommended!

My review is in two parts for my experience tonight. We arrived by boat on a mid week evening. No crowds but yet it was a nice amount of patrons. We immediately spot two Adirondack chairs and bring our two fur pups with us to hang out. We are greeted with a drink menu and I order a Key West Rickie and a Zombie. Both cocktails were fantastic! The place is well thought out, every attention to detail to make you feel like you are in the Florida keys is spot on! Tiki bars, live music, great drinks, sand, nice view, etc… I really recommend the place for drinks! Now the sad part is where I have to review on the food truck. Tonight was a «bbq» menu. It was extremely limited but we were starving and wanted dinner so we decided to try pork sliders and bbq pulled pork nachos. What came out was literally the worst dinner ever. I was embarrassed for the food truck in fact. My nachos were tostito chips with nacho cheese wiz(like you receive at the movies). Infact, it looks exactly like the movies. It had one slap of bbq pork which was so heavy in sauce and looked like it was cooked a month ago. It was accompanied by a tiny plastic container of jarred salsa and a tiny container of sour cream. Nothing else. Barf! No thanks on that food truck. What a was of $ 20 for the food we threw away. I see they have a carousel of food trucks so if I ever plan to eat there again, I will definitely check on who is there or pop over next door to IC Sharks which has outstanding fresh seafood. 4 drinks and the crap dinner was almost $ 80 so definitely pricier than I expected.

If you are fan of the outdoors and the beach… then this place is for you. I first visited about 6 months ago. You wouldn’t expect it but this is a large place with 2 bars and servers as well. There is usually live music or a dj. The atmosphere is full of young and old alike. People can pull their boats up or even kayaks. There is an area with tables near the bar or one in the sand and the are also high top bar tables. The Getaway doesn’t serve food but there are always food trucks there that the servers do get for you so don’t order at the food trucks. I believe they are building an area for one of the food trucks to find a permanent home(not one on wheels). I love their mojitos. They are delicious! They also offer frozen drinks and a full bar. There are restrooms on site and the parking is off of gandy in the sand. It is usually packed so you might have to walk far but it’s worth it. Since it is always packed, sometimes it takes awhile to get a drink. Adding another bartender might help alleviate that! Definitely a place I would recommend if you haven’t been before or to go back because I just love the atmosphere especially on a beautiful Florida day.

This place was pretty cool. Live music and food trucks! It was a pretty hectic when we arrived. It’s up to you to find a table to sit at. There were paper menus of the visiting food trucks that day on the tables. The atmosphere was nice as your under a wooden pavilion with a beach behind you. There’s horseshoe games and giant connect 4 game to play. Over the water there was a small deck you can walk out on with a couple lounge chairs. They had a awesome performer the night we were there and the music flowed to where we were even though we weren’t close. I may revisit if back in the area and that there are different food trucks there. This would be really nice in cooler weather.
