Central Pizza & Subs

Bad pizza, raw cheese on top. Crust not fully cooked except on edge. Worst pizza in a long time. We won’t be ordering from Central Pizza any longer.

I checked in but it’s for a delivery can’t wait to see pizza. Will follow up with pics! Best ever! Timely delivery and piping hot!

Small Family business. Great pizza at a good price. Reminds me of College and the «Varsity Pizza» in Syracuse NY in the 70’s. Excellent.

i was doing laundry next door and noticed the sign when i got there for the lunch special 2 pieces of pizza and drink for $ 4.50 and decided to give it a try; The cheese pizza just came out of the oven and they sliced two big pieces of pizza (probably just as big as pizza huts medium pizza) — that was some good eats there, cheese oozing off of the sides and the crust was perfect plus i got a bottled water instead of the usual soda, will be back ;-p

This is the kind of place I would love to recommend because it seems like a small independent place. However, I have ordered pizza from them probably 3 or 4 times and it is mediocre at best. It is always very greasy. I kept giving them more chances because one of my neighbors who has lived in St Petersburg for 30 years said they were great. The only thing I can think is that maybe at some point the ownership changed hands and now someone else is running the place. Don’t waste your time. Go to the Hungry Howies nearby on Central Avenue instead. Or basically any pizza place you’ve been to before that you know doesn’t suck.

Not the best. Open late and on Sundays is about the only highlight I can offer.
They are nice folks but lack sooo much. Young staff and high turn over make this place inconsistent to say the least. I would give it another shot or too but I wouldn’t be speeding to go back.

Based on the other reviews I decided to only try pizza. But even without the reviews, I go to Publix for subs, they beat all chains, and most local joints (like this). But onto the Pizza Review.
The pizza is spectacular. NY Style, like fresh Sbarro’s, it is totally the bomb. We got pineapple and sausage. The sausage was sliced thin like pepperoni but not round, rather it was in strips and some rolled up to make it like a combo of thick and thin sausage.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their product. For example I asked about crusts, she informed me they had garlic butter flavor but she prefers traditional. We went with traditional. We also had a choice of thin and crispy or thicker. I sometimes like thin and crispy (but it would still be NY style not thin style, more traditional Sbarro’s style) but my fiancée wanted thicker. We said thicker is better and the friendly female employee stated she likes hers on the thick side too.
In 20 min I went and picked up one of the best pizzas that I have had in a while. Not very greasy, not burned, loaded with cheese and toppings, and absolutely delicious. So happy to be living just a stones throw from this place. I foresee many trips back. Really hope they keep up the quality. If they do they will totally get 5 stars from me soon just because I love my pizza!

We ordered delivery of stuffed shells and chicken parmigiano. Had to be one of the worst we’ve had in a while. Everything was frozen. We are by no means picky but the chicken wasn’t even breaded. It was cut into little pieces then reheated over dry spaghetti. Garlic bread had no flavor and the salads arrived warm. Looked like they were two different salads add my wife’s didn’t even have cheese. Only gave two stars since they were nice

Usually good pizza, subs are sub par. Last pizza cheese seemed different — all who ate it had stomach upset. I’ve seen them blow on the crust before in the oven, but I’m from N.Y. so let it go.
Stopped by today and workers looked different. Asked if ownership changed. Girl said no, I explained about last pizza. She said okay. I said not okay. She replied have a nice day.
After 10 yrs, we’ll go elsewhere.

Poor service ordered a salad was told i had to pay for extra dressing and was a repeat customer. some of the employees dont wash their hands

I ordered the Vegitarian Pizza and garlic knots. The pizza was good, but not out of this world. They definately didn’t skimp on the toppings, they were crazy huge chunks. I probably would have liked to see the tomatoes and green peppers in smaller pieces. The garlic knots need alot of work (dough and flavor).

I really wanted to try a LOCAL pizza instead of the usual Dominos etc. Ordered at 5PM – it arrived at 6:22pm, soggy and lukewarm with a lame promise that the NEXT one would be free. Flavor? The flavor was really «off». Just didn’t have a good flavor at all. Will never order from these guys again.

Very good pizza. Not so sure about everything else. I have repeated ordered pizza from Central Pizza. It has always been good. Sometime it is even excellent. The get that crust with just a little crunch on the bottom that you only get when done correctly. The mushrooms are fresh not canned. The cheese is a good quality mozzarella. The sauce is a good balance between sweet and tart/​spiced.
But the other things they serve are kinda blah. I have gotten hot wings twice and the first time it was good this last time the breading was soggy and the meat was slightly undercooked. Then I got garlic knots. I asked for extra garlic and I got 4 large and well made knots but they were rather dry with little to no garlic on it. So I will keep ordering pizza from here but the rest is off the menu for me.

Great pizza & subs especially the thin crust pizza. Very reasonable prices, nice, friendly people there. They’ve been there for years and are very consistent in price & quality.

I like the Ham n cheese calzone and the antipasta salad here the best. The chicken salad I did not care for, the chicken chunks were way too big and it had way too much mayo. I cannot comment on the pizza here as it is hand tossed and not thin, which is the type of pizza I prefer. The best part is they deliver :)
