Not an Irish Pub. No Irish food, no Irish brews. Disappointing cuz that’s what I went there for. American good was average. Steak salad was pretty good with a few tasty onion rings on top. Decent selection of beer.

Perfect pub good, excellent waitstaff, quick service. Had lunch here on the way to Minneapolis and had one of the best meals in a long time. Great burger, awesome potato salad, and quirky but yummy«sloppy nachos» and a pint of bacon with a take-home Guinness glass.

Burgers were amazing! Tried three different ones and they were great. I’ll also recommend the buff chips, very tasty. Service was quite slow, make sure you’re with people you want to spend some time with. Bloody Mary was also delicious

We come to Patrick’s every Tuesday night for pub trivia(hooray Savants of Question! Go Ben and Tom!) and I’ve developed a pretty good sense of what Patrick’s is and isn’t. Patrick’s is a beer, wings, and burgers joint and they do pretty well at all three. They always have something interesting on tap, a decent selection of other booze, and plenty of tasty beverages(including 1919 Root Beer) for those who don’t drink. Patrick’s has a ridiculous selection of wing flavors that’ll suit any taste, and if you go on the right nights the wings are cheap enough to mix and match so your table can try a bit of everything. The burgers are the star of the show at Patrick’s; they have a whole bunch of different and interesting topping combinations, and often have even more fun burgers on special. Half of the star I’m withholding is due to the fact that my burgers are sometimes overcooked past the point of being juicy inside, but the toppings and enough salt and pepper keep them edible. That said, Patrick’s isn’t an Irish pub. They may have Irish items on the menu now and again and for special occasions, but otherwise the menu lacks any sort of entrée options. If you’re eating at Patrick’s you’re eating pub grub, and that’s the other half of the star I held back. I really wish traditional Irish pub food(Shephard’s Pie, Bangers and Mash, Pasties, etc.) were regular menu items. Patrick’s is a college bar, it’s walking distance from Gustavus and often has specials which cater to that crowd. They have sports up on TVs all over the bar, and normally has live music at least once a week. That said, Patrick’s isn’t a dive. The bar itself is sort of divey, but the place is open and lively enough that if you just want to stare at your drink for a few hours you’re better off going elsewhere. Patrick’s is a family restaurant. The servers are super-friendly and there’s a decent selection of kid’s menu options. That said, Patrick’s isn’t a healthy restaurant. The menu is almost entirely short-order and even the salads include cheese and sometimes meats which take them out of the ‘smart eating’ category. There are a few nods toward vegetarians and burger patties can be subbed out for black bean patties, but if you’re counting calories Patrick’s is gonna break the bank. Finally, Patrick’s is solidly a hometown joint. The place is locally owned and you’re likely to see your neighbors there, if only because it’s one of the only restaurants in town. That said, Patrick’s supports the community and is a registered ‘Safe Bar’ where any sort of harassment or violence is not at all tolerated. It’s a genuinely nice place to go. One final note, always order the Buff Chips as your side. Ermahgerd the Buff Chips are so good.

Been here a few times now and when it comes to restaurants in Mankato and St. Peter this is up there with the best. My bloody mary was spicy and garnished heavily. They also have half off pints for afternoon happy hour, and since I tend to favor slightly more expensive craft brews this was a major plus. They have thirty beers on tap and cover a wide array of styles. Atmosphere is relaxed; I’ve never felt rushed here. I’d call the place divey in lighting and looks, but it’s clean and the service is absolutely fantastic. They’re attentive and all seem to be genuinely sweet people. I’ve only been here in the afternoon, so I can’t speak for weekends or nights when it’s busier, but I’ve always been well taken care of. Food is just okay. Ticket times were slow at lunch so I can imagine it probably takes a bit at night. It’s basic bar food, so I’d only get it to go along with drinks. I’d probably pass if I was looking for a nicer place for dinner. Overall though, Patrick’s has won my business thanks to great drinks and service. I’ll be back.

In St Peter for a conference. Our group called ahead a day or two in advance to tell them a party of roughly 30 of us would be coming around 7 on a Sunday night. They had an area sectioned off for us that would only comfortable accommodate 12 people. So we had to to where the band plays. We were meeting new people so the noisy tuba player was a bit much. We asked for water and the server drops off cup and a couple pitchers… Okay I’ll do it myself no big deal.(Only six of us here at that point). When the full group arrived everyone had a drink to start then we were ready to order. Majority of us had traveled all day and we were super hungry. We ordered at 6:45– food didn’t hit our table until after 8. 1 hr &15min + ticket time. Damn. Longggg time to wait. Yes I get it that we were a large group but we gave them a fair heads up. After inhaling our food I asked for checks at 9;05, we weren’t all paid and out the door until 9;36. A meal and two drinks took 3 hours. The server didn’t seem equipped to handle a group of our size. Highlights: 30 beers on tap. Good prices on happy hour. Buffalo chips were great. My southwest chicken wrap was 6.5÷10. Good but not great. Very standard bar food. Most at my table said burgers were dry/overlooked. Low points: ticket times and just service in general was sllloooooowwwwww. I really tried to sympathize with how long EVERYTHING was taking, but I know there are efficient and good ways to take care of a large group. Server was nice but not good with a group. Fries were cold. She forgot my ranch. Also I hate when tip is added to large parties. It did not mention this anywhere on the menu. I hate it when restaurants do this. I would have tipped her more without the 18% addition. Ugh. I’m guessing this place is better going with two or three other people. They were bad with group service. Irritating experience, forgettable food. Won’t be back.

If Patrick’s was in DC, I’d probably give it 3 stars. Having said that, considering the location, I’m going with 4. I’d categorize this place as ‘divey,’ with a no-frills but service-oriented atmosphere. There was football on TV(always a plus for me), root beer on tap, and an impressive menu of burgers, sandwiches, and general bar food. It looked like the place to be during the week, with daily specials and happy hours, karaōke, etc… My biggest issue was that the burgers were over-cooked for my taste, and I was glad I ordered the Reuben, which was a bit blah. The buff chips, however, we’re awesome and the perfect crispness! If I ever find myself in St Peter again, I’ll definitely visit Patrick’s again!
