If you go on cheap steak night, it will be super crowded. The night we went, they were also short-handed…at least that was my assumption since it took forever to get our order taken and get our food. The food was just meh. Again, it could have been an off night, but if you go and it’s crowded be prepared for a long wait. Parking was a little challenging, they do have a small lot, and street parking was quasi-full. Be prepared to practice your parallel parking moves.

Skinner’s is what it is. And what it is is a dive with unbeatable prices and good bar grub. I love to go on Wednesday night when you can fill up on chicken wings and have a tab less than $ 15.

Their pizza buffet, which they ADVERTISE to be open at 11am, NEVERIS. Today a group of 10 of us showed up close to 1130 and the buffet had zero pizza… just the nasty salad bar. The employees were more concerned about schmoozing at the bar with the regulars. So we left and went up the road. Probably not a bad idea, the place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. Save your money and find a better buffet.

Last night we stopped by Skinners on a busy Friday night and discovered the best rueben sandwich in the Metro. I know other establishments claim they have the best rueben(Like both Village Inn and Bakers Square display on their pie boxes«Best Pie In America» and really both are average at best), but Skinners is the real deal. Years ago at a Jewish deli in Boston I had the best rueben of my life. The bread was homemade and importantly the pastrami was delicate and easy to eat when piled high. Skinners Pub has figured this out. The sandwich is served with thousand island dressing to dip if you like and with kettle chips. For a dollar more you can get fries and two dollars more onion rings. My advice is to stay with the kettle chips that come with the rueben. The french fries tasted packaged frozen(Yuck) and the onion rings were not salted immediately after taken from the deep fryer, thus bland. No place can get everything right, but Skinners figured out the rueben sandwich. Priced at only $ 7.50 it is worth it. Service is always fast and friendly. The esteem of this place is contagious. Parking in the large lot outside the rear entrance. This has an old tavern feel with some impressive food. Easy access off 35E and Randolph. Enjoy!

I’ve had their chicken before and it was good. This night, it was bad, but it wasn’t their best.

We had a $ 10 off coupon so we decided to check it out. It was busy so we figured that was a good sign. Turns out it’s always busy because there are people who camp out at tables for hours on end. Literally, the family of 8 next to us had 2 young kids complaining that they had been sitting there for over 3 hours playing pull tabs and the parents responded that it was better than sitting at home. The food was good for bar food. Great prices! I had the steak sandwich ordered mid rare. It came out mid well and was on the chewy side. My boyfriend had the Rachel which he said was good. I would have asked for the steak to be redone but our server dropped the food and ran. Never stopped back to see if we were happy or needed a drink refill. I was quite disappointed after reading all the reviews.

Friday night dinner club. On our way in the paramedics stopped in to get take out, you know it has to be fairly good. Tried the Italian fries and sauce for an appetizer, pretty tasty. Two of us had the four piece fried chicken dinner with jo jos with sour cream for dipping. Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, not much for seasoning, but chicken is one of the few things I like salt on, so it worked for me. The other two had a reuben and a rachel. They both said they were very good, piled high with meat and fair amount of sour kraut. Fries were really tasty as were the pickles on the side. They have Premium in the bottle, nice and cold. Great waitress, didn’t hover and didn’t ignore ya. Definately will go back another day.

I used to think this place was amazing because their food is excellent and the prices are great! BUT last time I came I was highly disappointed. It was Weds Wing Special four wings for $ 1.75. My husband I ordered 8 wings each and a platter of nachos. We asked for a to go box for our leftovers when were paying, and was told WECANNOTTAKETHEWINGSHOME! Are you kidding me? I paid for them. We ate 8 or 10 or so and had 6 or so left. We always come on Weds for this special and end up with leftovers and gladly take them home. This kind of service to a loyal customer as myself, appalls me. I had previously referred many friends and family to this spot for good grub, telling them how much I loved it. And this is how they pay me with utter disrespect for a very loyal customer. I am not sure if I could ever go back for Wing Weds again after this. I used to go about once a month for this special.

Seriously? Yes. Its surprisingly awesome. The food is good, the service is friendly and they usually have at least one pretty solid beer on tap(not just your usual domestics). I usually stop by after work and split the tatchos with someone — they are so wrong but oh so right. I’ve not had a meal I have not liked there. I’m hooked on Skinners. I can’t wait to go back.

You might be asking how can I warrant giving a somewhat of a dive bar/restaurant five stars and this is why – I was picking up an order and I was helped immediately, not only by one person but by no less than five people. This was not a slow night either. This was a super busy Friday night when all the servers were running their legs off with eat in diners. They apologized a few times for the delay which truly was not that big of a deal. Prior to this, we had dined in one night and had a fairly new server who was incredibly sweet, helpful, and efficient. Now… The food… The famous steak sandwich-Apparently this is their signature Sandwich. The server told us it was amazing and that their steak is cut fresh everyday. I am not a big steak person so I am not sure exactly what that means but I think to red meat loving folk, its a beautiful thing. Ci ordered it and loved it! She also ordered it again, the next time we got a to-go order. Bacon Cheeseburger-The burger was good. Nothing that fabulous but good. I really wanted a French dip but they ran out right when I ordered so I was caught off guard which is why I ended up with my standby. Pizza-Amazing!!! I hate to say this but I think its better than Savoys or Mama’s! Same style, the little squares of super cheesy pizza with amazing spicy sauce. I had a jalapeño, pineapple, and sausage pizza. Antipasta Salad-Enough for two people and it was really spectacular. I would order this again and this would be a great item to pick up for an addition to a meal at home. Who wants to cut up all those peppers and onion anyways. Just come here and get one! Yes, the place could use a little updating but I think that would take away from the charm. I really don’t think most people who come here to eat, care what the place looks like. Its a friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant with incredible service and crazy reasonable prices! P. S. They have a special every night and on Tuesdays, they have patio music in the summer.

We were in town, and decided on this place as a central location to meet, and to catch up with friends and family from the area. It wasn’t much to look at from the outside,(or the inside), but they had pretty good food at excellent prices. I was particularly surprised by the pizza buffet. I did not expect to find this here. For $ 6.95, you get All-You-Can-Eat pizza, salad bar, and soup, That’s a good price. The salad bar was pretty pedestrian, but it was fresh, and there was good variety. We didn’t try the soup, so I can’t really comment on that, but we did have the pizza. They put out four varieties of pizza, and one is vegetarian. They keep putting out the same, four pizzas until the pizza buffet closes in the early afternoon. It wasn’t a great pizza, but it was pretty good. The sauce was good, the crust was good, and there was plenty of cheese. It was well worth the price. I would definitely go back there again, and definitely recommend it to friends. Yeah, it’s just a neighborhood bar, but they have good deals on drinks, good deals on food, and very friendly, accommodating staff. I was very pleased.

We love Skinners! Low cost, low expectation, high reward. The appetizer menu is perfect for happy hour and you get a ginormous portion; their pizza is great, too. Tap beers are standard, with a few good Minnesota beers included. Service is welcoming and polite, without hovering.

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. Each time we were out and about I could not remember exactly where it was so we drove around aimlessly trying to find this place. Finally after craving a reuben, we jotted down directions and ordered some food to go. Any place that is well known for the reubens I need to try. Girl taking the order was nice and helpful. I ordered the reuben with onion rings. The onion rings were nice sized with a nice batter. I don’t like thr crunchy outing on onion rings. This batter was nice; more like a beer batter. The reuben was good. Thick and hearty meat, but kind of dry. Lots of sauerkraut and thick bread. Also ordered the Turkey Club with fries for my husband. It looked like a pretty good sandwich and it was quite large. Fries looked okay. Will have to try this place again as they have a reuben pizza. This place is nice for some reasonable bar food. Tasty, very reasonably priced and nice sized portions.

For now this review is based on food alone. Seriously get the Tachos. It will change your life. They also make an amazing Reuben and their Cali Burger is delicious as well. Oh and they Deliver!

This place is always packed. The food is tasty. Soups made from scratch. The servers and bartenders, no matter how busy, are cool under pressure. My only reason why I’m giving four out of five stars? I had about a one hour wait on my fried chicken order. And let me say, that one star hate is not on the chicken. Previously I’ve had the pizza, cut in squares like it’s meant to be with a better then average sauce and crust that gets cooked up nice and crispy. They’ve been serving the za for years and their seasoned ovens show it. They’ve got a full bar and if you like the pinball, which I do, you can keep yourself entertained while you wait for the order. If catching the game is also your thing, they make that happen too with all sorts of other weekly events like bar bingo and that really gets the people in there.

Skinners is great hole in the wall dive bar with GREAT pizza. I would recommend trying their Reuben pizza, it is a little out there but has great flavor. Do not expect to much for the atmosphere but th wood and good and the drinks are stiff and cheap. We rented the back room for a family birthday party, it was perfect and we fed about 55 or so people with drinks for about 400 — not bad at all

It is a dive bar, but with really good pizza. Lots of regulars. Ever been to one of those places where it seems like almost everyone knows each other? Skinner’s is one of those places. With whatever money they make, they do not put any of it into upkeep. The floor of the bar area is dirty with missing tiles and has definitely not been replaced since this joint opened. Gives it a certain charm, if you ask me. The special of the day on Saturdays is tacos: $ 1.50 for beef and $ 2.25 for chicken. Decided to order the tacos and told they were out for the day. WTF? It’s only 4:30 in the afternoon. They are also well known for their pizza, so we went with the Factory Special(Sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, bacon bits). They are really not afraid to throw on the cheese when making their pizzas. Almost too much cheese, as I could barely taste the crust. The staff is friendly and the drinks are cheap. $ 2.50 for stiff Windsor Cokes. I would gladly go back, just not at the top of my list.
