Unilocal users, c’mon! 3.5 stars?!? I picture the«kitchen» of this excuse for a restaurant is just a bunch of can openers for ingredients, scissors to open packets of dried sauces, and freezers of below average food stuffs. Had the pad Thai, panang curry, wings and egg rolls; all not good at all. Sorry, folks!

Stopped here for a quick lunch or at least tried to. Walked into a small place, no server to be seen must’ve been 3 to 4 mins. I sat myself. Ordered the masaman curry in thai medium for heat wise. Didn’t want the buffet. It to also took quite long for that to come out. The curry dish was great, with the amount of curry I’m surprised that the amount of rice they give you don’t add up. Not the best curry i had but that’ll do for now. Only thai in this area so if you crave it this place should fulfill your needs.

What a great find! Sam the owner was not only very nice, but made sure I was completely satisfied with my meal and experience. The Pad See Ew was delicious as well as the Hot Tea. For dessert, he gave a Thai Fortune Cookie that tastes much better than a regular Chinese cookie.

We asked our friends if we could come meet their new baby, and just to get them to say yes, we said we will grab some take out and bring dinner as well! HOWCOULDTHEYSAYNO! They couldn’t so we asked them where to go and they said they loved Sam’s! So Sam’s we went! And I’m glad we did! I ordered everyone’s dishes 2 chicken pad thai for our friends and we got a Green Curry with Tofu, and a Yellow Curry with Tofu! We were going to be late as it took us a long time coming from the city, so we called Sam told him we were going to be late and he said no worries he would keep our food hot for us! And he did, 15 minutes late and the food was still piping hot when we got it to our friends house! The portion sizes were huge and it was just the perfect amount of Spicy! I ordered my curry a 4 spice and my wife ordered hers’ a two spice and they were just fantastic! Great tasting, tons of tofu and I was super full when we finished that I didn’t even think about eating one of the spring rolls I also got for us. Sam was super nice and you could tell he took great care of his guest and made sure we got everything we needed! If you happen to be in White Bear Lake, MN this is a must stop for anyone who loves good Curry! Heck take a day trip from Minneapolis and go visit Sam, you won’t be disappointed.

Impeccable homemade/scratch cooked Thai food. The Spring Rolls are pricey at over $ 8.00 but what you get in return is FRESH spring rolls, stuffed to the gills with FRESH ingredients and they are JUMBO in size. We ordered off the main menu and skipped the lunch buffet. My Rama with Chicken was Thai spicy as requested. The gal’s Pad Thai was(while a traditional and let’s face it, routine Thai dish) delicious. TIPS: The menu give you the choice of heat: either American taste heat scale or Thai spice heat scale. As a lover of extremely spicy but still packed with flavor Thai food, I was thrilled to see the options for heat. TIP #2: While the buffet is tempting and looked satisfactory, the treasures here are the food items off the Thai menu, cooked to order.

Delicious food. Very friendly owner is half the staff. Authentic food and we got a free appetizer while we were waiting for our take out. There was no one there when we went but the owner struck up a conversation and clearly appreciates his customers. Loved the Pad Thai. It was light and flavorful. Ambiance is lacking and only a handful of tables but the food is worth it.

Great Fresh flavors. I love any Asian buffet, But at Sam’s he does not use MSG he uses fresh ingredients and the small size makes sure its still fresh and personal food. His Thai food side of the buffet is healthy tasting with all your favorite fried options as well. I found my absolutely favorite food at his place in Bean Thread noodles. Used as a foundation for the curry chicken and vegetables or spicy beef entrée I just love the clear noodles most of all. great chicken wings, egg foo young, and try the sweet Asian potato, which I have also seen him do with pears.

I’m not even done with my meal and I have to tell the world about this not so hidden gem. I tried the lunch buffet and was interested by the different selections from the usual Asian buffet. A wonderful mix of Chinese and Thai options. The rice was perhaps slightly under cooked but nonetheless tasty, the hot and sour soup has earthy undertones, uncomplicated with a few simple ingredients and delightfully thick, not too thick-just right. None of the offerings had a label which I like sometimes as labels might keep me from trying some new things. Keep the pre-concieved notions at bay and let sight, smell and taste make the choices. The noodles were perfectly al dente and lightly seasoned. There was a spicy hamburger entrée purée which I mixed with the noodles that made a perfect combination, accompanied with hot stir fried vegetables and I also tried the spicy chicken stir fry which was tasty as well. On the down side I don’t like the canned only beverages being offered. All in all a very good lunch meal at a reasonable price.

Stopped in for lunch. Holy cow this place is TINY and cramped. Normally I don’t care much about ambiance but I literally bumped into TWO people on the way to my seat. Lunch buffet was small and seemed more Chinese than Thai. Plus about half of the choices were empty. Nothing impressive about the food, but it was OK. Sam the owner is nice and is also the cashier and server. He is the reason his restaurant didn’t get a 1-star from me.

If you think you have had the best thai food but haven’t had sam’s thai then your surly mistaken. I have tried every Thai restaurant in the twin cities and sam’s is #1 hands down

This is formerly«Wild Ginger», which has 4 reviews as of 12÷7÷10. I was never there when it was Wild Ginger, but it is the same owner, Sam, who puts on the show. I visited for the lunch buffet and thought it was pretty good. Its a small place, so be ready for that. It is definitely Thai and not Chinese. Not all of the dishes are drenched in sauces and all the vegetables tasted fresh. I found them a nice change of pace from the norm. I took a to-go menu and he does offer some of the more classic Chinese dishes if your leaning that way.
He mentioned the buffet changes daily, which surprised me. I am looking forward to heading back soon to check out another spread. Around $ 10.00 for the buffet and a soda.
