Rocco Altobelli Salons & Day Spas

This salon and spa won me over right from the start with their attentive and welcoming staff, clean and well deigned space, their incredible pricing and delicious products. I have never before been so happy with a hair coloration and my colorist, Bailey, is a rock star! And the commentary bangs trimming in between my regular hair cuts is a lovely gift as well! Rocco Altobelli really excels at delivering incredible beauty services that leave me feeling energized, gorgeous and ready to take on the world. ;)

I have been a regular at Roccos for some years. I started when they were located in the Galleria. After moving away and enduring a disaster of a haircut I decided it was time to get back to the good stuff. My regular stylist had moved to another salon and the colorist I had used in the past was off the day I was to be in for a staff meeting. So I scheduled with new people and was looking forward to my visit with eagar anticipation. When I arrived at the new location, I immediately felt like I was not good enough to be there, like a street bum who had wandered in to the wrong place. I guess I am too old and not hip enough. The receptionist could not have been snottier if she had tried. The stylist did a pretty good job though she spoke to me like I was a halfwit and didn’t listen until I told her the stylist who’d been there before had done abc to my hair. He was twice the stylist she will ever be. The cut turned out pretty good but I don’t know if I will be back. It’s not every day you can spend big money and be treated like trash. If rudeness is the new «in» I don’t want to be a part of that place anymore. It was so disappointing. My daughter and I loved that place and had many the great day out having our hair cut and colored and browsing the Galleria. Those days are gone I guess. I will be calling Lili to see if my old stylist is still there. We will see how they treat people. At least if I’m treated badly I know my hair will be perfect.

This is where I go for brow waxes. They are consistently great and reliable. I see whoever is available and have always been happy. Generally I can get in the same day if I call early enough in the day. I used to bounce around from salon to salon depending on where ever i happened to be but I ended up with what I referred to as the eyebrow equivalent of a Brazilian. It was horrible. I would give five stars but it’s really frustrating that they don’t allow you to tip on the card. There have been several times that I have had to leave to get cash and come back to tip and that is a terrible parking lot to be in more than absolutely necessary.

Missy R. is a genius at coloring hair. Really. No matter where I have lived in the country, I have always come here for hair color. I will pretty much let anyone with a pair of scissors cut it, but only trust Missy with the color.

Ashely does great haircuts here, and Katie does great manicures/​pedicures. Don’t go there for color though because they don’t blow dry you after — you have to go home with a wet head or blow dry it yourself on another area of the salon. Seems to ruin the pampered type of experience for me. Plus how can you really tell if you like the job done if you aren’t styled and dried?

I desperately needed a haircut! I was back in the Twin Cities visiting family for the holidays and my hair was just downright embarrassing. I hadn’t gotten a cut since last May due to the usual lack of time and money. I’ve also had an extremely difficult time finding a talented stylist in Chicago, and it was getting exhausting. My mom told me she had the greatest girl who listened to her and did a great cut. I rolled my eyes and skeptically agreed to see Lolita at Rocco Altobelli.
The whole visit was an overall wonderful experience, Lolita was sweet and really knows hair, she works quickly but wasn’t rushed. She did an awesome job on my cut, it even looks great when I’m lazy and don’t style it. I guess mother really does know best! I’m totally coming back to Lolita everytime I visit my family!

I consider this place «my salon,» but in the past year, I’ve brought each of my two daughters and my husband, all to see «my stylist.»
The salon itself is the type that makes us 40-​somethings feel just a tad frumpier than we are – a tad more like we’re wearing «mom jeans,» and committing several other fashion offenses to boot. But we grit our teeth and think of England, or better yet, the glorious hair that will be our just reward for an hour of imagining all the cutting remarks going on inside the heads of the lithe, tattoed, pierced. and oh-​so-​chic crowd.
Thing is, you find a great stylist, you hang on for dear life! Mine took my 11-​year old daughter’s long, thick, coarse blanket of hair, and our vague opinions as to what should be done, and working with us the entire time – never forcing her will – came up with an age-​appropriate, but fashion forward style. She taught my daughter how to style it and reminded her that it was okay to not do much at all with it. She kept in mind that fractions of inches were as important as miles to the tween set. In short, she is a gem.
Greeters and schedulers are always professional and courteous. Prices are slightly too steep for us to keep our kids coming regularly; but as I lazily only get mine cut once or twice a year, the cost doesn’t bother me. Requiring a cut every month or so, it was tough to get the spouse to come even once, used as he was to his $ 15 cuts. But after seeing what could be done with his thinning hair, he hasn’t looked back! I have no experience with the colorists, but they always look busy and committed, and I would certainly choose Rocco Altobelli for coloring if needed.
Next time, maybe a temporary tattoo?
