Had the Thai Veg. It was a little sweet but mostly bland in the middle. Don’t think it’s worth $ 9. Crust was decent.

Fabulous crust on the pasty, but the chicken pot pie pasty had so much black pepper in the filling that it wasn’t really edible. There was a decent dessert pie slice, but I had to guess. The kid at the counter didn’t know what kind of pie they had that day, only that one was white and one had coconut. Staff could be better informed. Overall, meh.

Thai veg is delicious. Recently had the Reuben special — pretty tasty. My favorite food truck, hands down.

Yes to this. I had the chicken one, which was outstanding. Filling, and it still felt like I’d just eaten almost nine hours later. Also, how it was able to stay hot(not just warm… HOT) for nearly two hours seems like a marvel of modern engineering. Aces to Potter’s; I can’t wait to try their other types!

The food truck was by Mears Park for a festival. I bought several traditional pasties, ate one and saved the other. Wonderful and authentic pasties. Grabbed a flyer, will keep an eye out for the food truck or hope my location is within their delivery area.

Wow! The sausage roll is one of the most unique and bold flavors my tongue has savored in a while! AND it’s cheap! I was in hungry and in a hurry and the truck was right in my path(how nice of them to cater to me so well) so I decided to grab a snack. I wasn’t extremely hungry so I didn’t get one of the main pasties, but I was very glad I didn’t. I have only had the pig pasty before and it was good, but nothing spectacular. When I went for the cheaper $ 6 dollar option I was expecting nothing more than a glorified hot dog, but my expectations were shattered. The sausage roll resemble a hot pocket in form with a croissant-like outside and ground sausage in the middle. The ground sausage on the inside has a bold, diverse flavor ensemble of herbs and spices. It also comes with a cooling applesaucey dip. In short, its a perfect medium-large snack with a reasonable price. it’s spicy, but the apple dip is a wonderful counterbalance. The only downside is it’s a little messy.

Best food truck food I have ever eaten. The pastries are better than the ones I had in the UK. The Traditional had a perfect flaky crust and good meat/potato/veg mix in it with a very fresh Rosemary flavor. Only get it if you like Rosemary.

I dug it! Stopped by the food truck a few days ago at Mears Park in St. Paul. Ordered up a take ‘n bake Sicilian sausage pasty and had it for dinner that night. I gave the dough a nice egg wash and I gotta’ tell ya’, that thing was de… lish…us! The dough was nice and flaky and the sausage was spicy and daaaaaaaaaang good. My wife finished off the last part(I was full!), and she loved it also. We will both definitely be going back. I’d love to try the others as well.

Glad to see this food truck last evening at the Harriet Brewery. Too bad they were charging a $ 6 cover just to get into the brewery in order to buy a beer(they had a musician playing); given that we were just there to eat and not hang for any length of time, it just didn’t seem right to pay a cover charge to then buy one beer. I was interested to try their«market special» pork pasty — with pork shoulder, sweet potato, cayenne pepper and a golden raisin sauce — despite its $ 12 price tag. I found my pasty a bit too sweet, even without using any of that golden raisin sauce; however, there was a nice heat kick to it. Also, the rolled edge was fairly thick and heavy(and not thoroughly baked all the way through). Very unpleasant, however, to take a bite part way through the pasty and get a mouth full of pork fat. Ugh! I’m sure many people standing around me witnessed my spitting the offensive glob into my napkin and then throwing it to the ground(so as not to have to hang onto it until I tried to finish the rest of the hand pie). If given the choice right in front of me, I would choose a Pasties Plus Pasty(Grand Rapids, MN) over Potter’s.

pasty(pastē) noun(British) a folded pastry case with a savoury filling, typically of seasoned meat and vegetables. Ok, now I know what I am about to eat. It looks like a huge pot pie. The traditional has a savory filling with beef and other vegetables. It must be designed to be eaten with the hands as the crust is thick(especially where the edges join.). Its very filling and is a solid meal It may be a little large for the faint of heart. My wife got the sausage roll. I liked the taste of the roll, better than the pasty, but both were good. A more approachable item for the smaller appetite. We caught up with the truck at Hammerheart Brewery, so beverages were not an issue.

I have literally have been waiting to try these place for years and years. They happened to be at Hammerheart brewery in Lino Lakes just off the interstate about 2 miles. Being my luck I just finished dinner and decided to have a cheeky pint or two on my vacation. After a few strong pints my appetite returned and I was able to eat a sausage roll w applesauce mustard for around 6.99 which I loved and reminded me of England. Man I want to these guys to come my house and set up shop permanently. Loved it !

I first tried Potter’s Pasties several years ago, and couldn’t quite put my finger on why I wasn’t a fan. It’s taken me several more stops to finally decide that I’ll pass on their pasties in the future. For $ 8 or $ 9, the pasties always seemed outrageously priced. Yes, they are huge, but I’ve never actually wanted to eat the whole thing… So a smaller version on the truck may have changed my opinion. I’ve had the Pig, Thai Veg, and Traditional. Each time, I was not too impressed with the flavors; not my cup of tea. The apple in the Pig is very overpowering and sweet. The crust on all the pasties were very thick and that made that crust edge very tough to bite into. That should be the best part.

Rainy day food at its best — Potter’s Pasties fit the mood Friday night at Harriet Tap. The husband and I met up with a few friends for beverages and a bite. Our friends highly recommended Potter’s — so we were game. I had the pig, hubs had the bbq pork special, and our friends both had the thai veg. My pig pasty was good — definitely on the sweet side. Very sweet side. I wasn’t expecting that — apple. coriander, pork. It was good, but after about half of it — the sweet taste was a little overwhelming. I found myself looking longingly at the thai veg(not sure if the pictures on Unilocal are out of date or what, but the thai veg looked like it has a lot more color now than the pictures on here portray it to have). Sriracha sauce available at the truck — thai veg will be my pick next time. The husband’s special pasty was okay. More of a vinegar based bbq than I was expecting, so I think my own expectations made me not love it. So. I like Potter’s. I think I’d love it even more late fall or winter when a steaming fancy hot pocket of food would warm the belly.

Before they opened up their new spot on Como, I used to chase this food truck around Saint Paul from Mears Park to Highland Park. It was an obsession during the summer. I had actually heard about Alex and how his business came about on MPR. Out of curiosity, I just had to try it. Once I did though, I was hooked. I also bought these for my co-workers; it became a lunch affair. :) My personal go to pasty is the Thai Veggie and best of all they serve café sua da; a perfect complement to each delicious bite you take into your mouth. If you are chasing them again like me, get there early as they sell out quick! Thank you, Alex… for bringing the UK and Iron Range to the Twin Cities!

A little late, but here it is! I love this place. The pasties are great and it is wonderful to be able to support a good thing from the Twin Cities. Selection is limited but they do what they do damn good. They have a nice little shop as of TODAY and they did not disappoint. The pork and apple was a bit too moist but these pasties are not Greggs(don’t know? Consider yourself lucky) and I am happy to plop it on a plate and eat it with a fork. Thank you for bringing your pasties to the twin cities and I promise to be a life-long customer. Good luck!

I’ve never tried traditional English food before so I didn’t have much to go off of. Potter’s was my first hand experience with British pastries and I wasn’t impressed nor was I disappointed. The menu item I tried was«the pig» which is a braised pulled pork mixed with apples and other seasonings. A very odd combination of flavors for me but it wasn’t bad. I love the simplicity of potter’s menu but I feel as though it could be so much better. The staff are also very friendly and the service is great as well!

Went for the opening yesterday and was not disappointed! We ordered two pies and two sausage rolls and also a banoffee pie. I found the little pastry of the banoffee pie was a tad thick, but otherwise the rest was authentic and delicious!

When you get a bit older and have settled down for a decade or so with someone you love, your habits change. Going out to the hot spots is not your focus. If you have a good palate, eating at Denny’s is not on your date night rotation. But what do you do to change it up a bit? Hit the food trucks at the breweries, of course! Tonight’s Saturday date night with the honey took me to Potter’s Pasties, which was parked out in front of the Fulton brewery. I knew from looking online that it was going to be the Traditional and a Pig. ALLHAILTHEPIG!!! This is some serious pulled pork. And it stands up proud and squeals for your taste buds. Luscious, flavorful, sensuously seasoned to make you go OOOH. Though I am not a fan of meat and fruit, they do ok with the apples in the pasty, they didn’t go overboard. My only suggestion is they could break up the coriander seeds a bit before they add them to the mix. The Traditional was not as good. My first thought after tasting was I wish I had a bottle of sriracha to put a few shots of flavor in it, but sriracha aside, the meat was cooked well, the potatoes and carrots were tasty. More pepper and a bit more salt would not have hurt the beef here. Sorry for those that have issues with gluten, but Potters has little options for you. For the vegetarians, they have a Thai pasty that I did not get to try tonight. Potters, I will be back for more of your tasty pasties.

YUM! Potters is the best! It’s a great truck with exceptional and unique food… especially for the trucks in the area. We are always excited to see them parked at events and can never pass up the Thai Veg! I do wish they offered something like a cherry pie or some kind of a sweet pasty… but, it’s probably good that they typically don’t. The last thing I need is to indulge in both sweet AND savory items, wrapped in their delicious crusts!

When I was a poor student in London, I lived off of pasties(cheese, potato and onion being the stable). Although more expensive than the ones I had as a student, the pasties here take me back to London. I am impressed by quality of the meats they use and the freshness of the veg. I am having a hard time deciding which is my favorite beef or chicken. I also like the sausage rolls. Definitely not the Tesco bargain ones I use to get and they don’t need HP sauce. These are similar to a sausage bread a school friends mom use to make and we decided it was like crack. Yes, this is a great addition to the food truck revolution in Minneapolis.

The pasties are really good — I especially liked them this spring when there was still a bit of a nip in the air. Perfect sort of food for that time of year. As it has gotten warmer I am less pulled to Potter’s, but it is not for any reason other then some internal weather/food issue I appear to have. I can say with absolute certainty that Potter’s are the best pasties I have ever had. I have never had pasties anywhere else but Potter’s, so… Anyhoo, my fave so far has been the teriyaki. Totally worth trying no matter the time of year if you have not already — you won’t be sad you did.

I love food trucks. I believe I may lack a little bit of self control and like that there is a little portion control associated with eating at a food truck as well as the fantastic quality of food. I see these guys a lot in Mears park. I’ve been wanting to try these guys for a while and these guys are definitely worth a try. For 9.50, I had the special which was a chicken pastie and a cantaloupe salad. The pastie was very flaky and flavorful. The ingredients tasted very fresh even though it was in a pie. From a taste perspective, it did get a little dry(but this is the risk but that being said, this was chicken breast) and not as flavorful as I would have thought. The cantaloupe salad was delicious. For the price, I have to admit it was pretty good and the pastie was more filling than I thought. Not the most inventive foods or flavors but solid comfort food.

What Potter’s may lack in menu diversity(i.e., pretty much just their namesake pasties and pies); they definitely make up for in execution. While I know they do their prep work elsewhere, it’s still pretty impressive that they can turn out high-quality pasties out of the back of a trailer parked on the street… The Traditional and Pig pasties are both winners and will warrant return visits. The former lives up to its name as it’s stuffed with ground beef, carrots, potatoes, onions and gravy and pretty damn tasty(and pretty damn dense — you could probably go small game hunting with it). The Pig, filled with pork, apples and onions is a nice balance of savory and sweet — think of a cross between a pork pasty and apple pie that somehow works. The Thai vegetable pasty isn’t bad either(and is pretty much the only option for vegetarians), though I found it to be a bit starchy after a few bites. I’m admittedly a bit biased as Potter’s spends most, if not all, of their time in St. Paul — you can usually find them around Rice or Mears park during the weekday lunch hours and I’ve also spotted them around the St. Paul Farmer’s Market on the weekends. They’ve definitely carved out a niche for themselves amongst the ever-growing street food options; and it’s one that’s been much enjoyed by this guy.

There are food carts and then there are food carts. This is an awesome new food cart started by experienced Minnesota Chef(formerly of Barbette, 128 Café, I Nonni, and more) Alec W. Duncan. After traveling the world through Vietnam, Argentina, Chile, Nepal, India, England and so many more countries(just chat with him, him and his co-owner fiancé Fiona have a great gift of gab) opened up their own food cart the collects their travel experiences and shares them with the public in the form of delicious world cuisine. Prices are very reasonable, flavors are unique and exciting, I was just thrilled to find something so different and fun on the streets of Saint Paul. According to the chef, they will be expanding to MPLS as soon as possible. What a fun way to eat while biking through the city this summer!
