This is My Park! I live across the street from this park; I listen to Jazz, Blues, Music in the Park on Thursdays, and any other type of music festival in this Park .I love the Food Truck choices all summer long. They line up on Wacouta. The amazing Volunteers have flower plots which they meticulously tend to all summer and provide all of us with colorful beauty into the Fall. The city does a great job of keeping trash out of the park and recently added new park benches. I feel relatively safe in the Park. I don’t feel as safe as I used to when I first moved down here but I think the recent addition of the Saints Stadium could have something to do with that. Its rare I feel unsafe but there have been a few times compared to No times in the past. My daughter was 15 when we moved downtown and she would take the dog out at all times of the night with no issues. Police presence is apparent at all times. The numerous wedding venues, upscale restaurants and bars, provide a comfort until 2Am as there are always people out and about. To those of us who live in Cement City, this park is our backyard. We sit on the benches to visit with neighbors, our dogs play with their friends in this park, and its an extension of our home

Mears Park is the epicenter of Lowertown’s dog life! The east side along Wacouta St. is specifically designated for dog walking/potty area. The dog owners(and the dogs!) are very friendly and love to say hello. If you live in one of the nearby pet-friendly buildings, you will meet new friends very quickly this way. It’s wonderful! Oh, and people are really good about cleaning up after their pets also.

I’ve been here a few times for jazz festivals and I feel like it’s not as poppin as say, Father Hennepin or Loring Park in Minneapolis. I feel like the general vibe in downtown St. Paul is too calm for me so the crowd that typically spends time at events at this park are into listening to cool jazz or classical music while sipping on glasses of wine in their Tommy Bahamas fold out chairs… which is totally fine… but not for me. What I can say is parking is so easy to find since the meters stop being enforced pretty early. It’s also a very clean park with lots of lounging areas. It’s just the atmosphere that doesn’t match my personality.

This park is really cute. It has a little stream running through it. I came here for a jazz festival and it was really fun. There was a lot of grass to sit on and the park is pretty big. I like that is surrounded by bars and restaurants which is convenient. You can go for a stroll in the park and stop by the bars for some drinks.

This pretty park in Lowertown has it going on in every season. Yes, even in the winter! It’s a great place to stroll after a meal at one of the several restaurants at the perimeter of the park. This eve the Twin Cities Jazz Festival brought the park to life. Even with a bit of rain, it was still a great place to enjoy some wonderful music!

Friday after a workweek is relaxing. I particularly enjoyed listening to the player on the piano available to the public in the park’s band shelter. I’m going to tumbler now to see if there is an effyeahpianosinparks blog yet. The park sneaks in both social and quiet spots among the undulating creek and mounds. Gardening spaces flow into each other offering businesses, families, and other groups designated, but unpretentious, spaces to practice their friendship with the park. I spoke with a few of the volunteers breaking their backs to increase their, and our, smiles with new plantings. They are good, well-weeded people.

If you’re wondering where the«heart of Lowertown» is, it’s here in Mears Park. There’s even a little Lowertown clock to prove it( ). If I worked a 9 – 5 in St. Paul, I’d scurry out here to take a break during the day, maybe grab lunch at one of the restaurants that surround the square or at a food truck during the warm season. Maybe I’d stop by after work for some live tuneage from the Music in Mears summer series that plays from the pavilion. And it would be so pretty in the winter all lit up with lights that it would almost inspire me to give up cursing Daylight Savings Time from November until March. It would be grand. So even though I don’t visit Mears Park as often as I like, I just wanted to tell it this: Good job at being a little urban park.

Such an enchanting little park DT St. Paul. Dropped by for the Lowertown Music in the park series. –Many benches to sit on, no matter how rusty. –Many slabs of rock to sit on– some more than other covered in bird crap. –Lots of Lawn to throw a blanket on or sprawl out on and listen to the birds, music or whatever else audible in the distance. Quaint and nice at night listening to the water trickle down the little path. Nice touch in St. Paul and it seems like more events are taking place which is nice to see in St. Paul since it’s such a snoozer after 5 pm.

Mears Park seems like the nucleus of downtown St. Paul. As you stroll through the green space, it really feels like the people hanging out represent an accurate cross section of the community. The park is surrounded by dining establishments, workplaces, and probably thousands of personal dwellings. This is a hotbed for those who participate in the sport of people-watching. I’m looking forward to packing a picnic dinner and checking out«Music in Mears Park» this summer, now that I live nearby.

I imagine Richard Gere taking off his shoes and walking around in Mears park, contemplating whether or not«Viv» is the one… Why? Why not, pretty woman was a good freakin movie. I know, this review isn’t helpful at all.

Great, tiny little patch of green in the middle of downtown Saint Paul. Now that the weather’s better, we’ve actually spent much more time there than just double-duty dog time(you get my drift) and back in to defrost. I can’t wait until the artificial stream gets activated. I love that the bandshell plays host to impromptu performances by a variety of residents — we’ve seen white Reggae artists(:giggle:?), a saxophone player in a wheelchair, and a whole gaggle of kids working on their break beats and pop locks. It gives me the sense that Saint Paul is, in fact, alive and green.
