Leeann Chin Cuisine

Never had an issue with the staff here or any Leeann Chin’s
I know it’s fast food — and usually not that fast. Many times I end up waiting for it.
But I think their food is just good enough. I sometimes stop.
It’s been better lately — fresher & more flavor

I have been here on occasion for their lunches and dinners. Most of these visits only happened because two members of my family love this place. To me, this place rates no higher than average. It has good qualities, and it has bad qualities.
To their benefit, the employees do a great job at keeping everything clean and organized. I have never once had a problem with areas being dirty or cluttered. Therefore, I feel comfortable walking in here and hanging out with family.
The employees are almost always friendly. There have been only a couple unenthusiastic employees who have served me. The rest seem eager to please their customers. They are also great at answering any questions I may have about the food and the menu.
Unfortunately, their overall food quality rates between fair and average. Considering how much they charge for their food, I do not think their prices are worth quality of food that they serve. The quality is not devastating, but it needs a lot of work. This is the big reason why I am hesitant to be a frequent customer on my own terms.
When I am in the area, I will continue coming here only if my particular two members insist. Otherwise, I prefer to go someplace else for better quality food.

Was in this particular Leeann Chin’s on March 23, 2015. When I went to leave there was the biggest cockroach stuck in some sticky stuff on the floor. At one time the staff was wonderful, but have noticed in the past year or so continued turn over of managers and wait staff… too bad.

They are always out of stuff and when you ask for more you get attitude. Not worth it

I stopped in the other day to give this Chinese chain a try as I’ve never tried Leeann Chin before. The food was alright for what it is which quick and convenient. The one surprising thing was that don’t carry General Tao which I just assumed was a staple for Americanized Chinese food.
For my order, I had the Mongolian Chicken and the Cream Cheese Wontons. The Mongolian Chicken was sweet and spicy, but it was almost too overly sweet. It also was a very heavy entrée which I never experience with «Chinese» food. The wontons were tough and chewy.
The staff could be a little friendlier, as no one really smiled or asked me how I was. I understand people have bad days, but if you’re in customer service sometimes, you have to fake that you’re in a good mood when you’re not. Overall, I did appreciate that they got my order ready quickly which was what I really wanted. For $ 9, I’m okay with just okay food and not overly friendly service.

I agree with just about everything people have said before me here:
1. Leeann Chin is Asian fast food, a step above Panda Express.
2. It is completely Americanized.
3. It used to be better, back in the good old days.
I don’t care. It is what it is. Cheap, quasi-​Asian fast food that is the best in its category. Just because you don’t like the category isn’t a very good reason to rail on the category leader.
So four stars it is. Not because its quality or authenticity rivals other restaurants that have earned 4-​star reviews from me. But compared to Panda Express, and pretty much any other «ethnic» fast casual place (Chipotle excepted), Leeann Chin is well above average. Every once in a while I get a hankering for it, and they rarely disappoint. Yay. I’m a fan.
p. s. And yes, I remember the long-​gone, fancy Leeann Chin where we would actually see the restaurant’s namesake from time to time. I remember her as a kind and talented woman. I was a kid then and only wish that I had gotten the chance to visit it as an adult.

It was more or less what i expected from Leann Chin’s — it was okay — not amazing, not bad — easy and cheap after getting back on a flight and nothing in the cabinets to make.
Its fast food stir fry — i don’t want to say «chinese» because the food in China is significantly better — and different.
So it goes.

Lee Ann Chins is not awesome. But I eat there with alarming frequency. So there has to be something that keeps pulling me back. I bounce around with what I order (sesame chicken, mongolian chicken, bourbon chicken, beef lo mein…). Seriously, none of it is all that great. But I keep going. So, it is hard for me to slam the place, because I can’t really hate on the place that much… but the food is so just average… if. If you are looking for Chinese in Highland Park, hit the Cleveland Wok. You’ve eaten at Lee Ann Chin before.

The food keeps getting more an more processed! You cough afterwords with such a heavy taste in your mouth. Plus the prices keep going up with the portions and the quality keep going down. I hate that they are such cheapskates and measure out your food in front of you. Plate a little to heavy? Heaven forbid! It’s so annoying watching an employee carefully remove one piece of broccoli or half a slice of carrot in an attempt to make the plate hit the correct weight on the scales. I avoid LeeAnn Chin whenever possible!

If I told you one of the best wedding receptions was from LA Chin, you’d say I’d lost my damn mind. But once upon a time The Depot in downtown St. Paul had a LA Chin that was a major draw of downtown, valet parking and everything. Hell, it was a main fixture on Grand Ave, where Salut now is, believe it or not. There is a real Lee Ann Chin, and she was made an offer she couldn’t refuse by General Mills. No sour grapes, but in usual corporate form the first order of the day is to mess with the menu and recipes. No more shrimp toast or jeweled rice. GM published a Betty Crocker cookbook of Chinese cuisine, and it’s her recipes. My children were raised on these recipes and going to the restaurant weekly. There was a lot of sorrow at the failing of this restaurant and especially the depot. It would actually be in the special occasion category, it was that fancy, and still a buffet. Now, it’s under it is what it is. The real sorrow is for the Unilocalers that missed this experience.

Leann Chin isn’t real Chinese food, but it’s close enough to satisfy my cravings for something other than a buffet. I love their strawberry lemonade and cream cheese puffs.
They have recently been having deals where if you buy a $ 20 giftcard then they give you a $ 5 voucher. Wait, you mean to tell me that you will give me $ 5 free for the $ 20 that I would spend here anyway? You’d have to be an idiot to not take establishments up on these offers.
My heart was won over by the server who gave me 5 wontons for the price of 3. That’s customer service!

I’ve never eaten here in the last 10 years.
Why? Because it’s asian fried dogfood that someone with only the whitie breadiest of palates could consume.
Closest comparison to this place would have to be the mall fooderies like Panda Express and the like.
