I love this place. I shop here often for low cost fruit and veggies that are high quality. This is one of the most unique grocery stores I have encountered. It is the size of an 1980’s IGA grocery store. It is Asian/American. The staff are all asian except the fresh meat department which are older white guys. It has a large parking lot that is always full. The produce here is much better than any other local market because of the high turn over. Low prices + friendly + quality = a lot of business. When entering you are always greeted with a hello from a cashier no matter how busy they are. The owner will ask you how he can help and thank you for shopping. The people stocking the shelves will ask how they can help you. I challenge you to walk through this store any time of the day and not have at least one staff person approach you with a smile. Customer service is the best in the metro. The isles are the coolest part. One side is Asian and across is American. As an example if you are in the condiments section you will see all kinds of asian options and across will be all the American name brands you come to expect like Heinz and Miracle Whip. The meat section offers fresh and affordable high quality meat. The meat is always processed the same day and the prices are much lower than any of the competitors. If you want great fried chicken and other Asian items, the deli is always busy and prices are low. I could keep going but you get the idea. Its safe. Its busy. Its affordable and most of all Golden Harvest Foods is the friendliest grocery store I have ever shopped at.

Good selection of fruit and vegetables. The meat is really great, as well. Dragon Star definitely has a much larger selection of meat and various organs and more variety of fruits and vegetables. But Golden Harvest is definitely cleaner.

I’d only go there on weekdays and after 6pm because their parking suck! Need to upgrade otherwise I just go elsewhere cause sometimes no parking space… Park across Marland Ave and risk my life? Not happening when there a so many places to choose from.

I love to cook Asian cuisine, and one of my favorite things to do is to find a «mom & pop» store to buy my supplies and support a small, local business on the East side of St. Paul. I went in search of such a store on Saturday, only to be devastated that my 2 favorites on White Bear Ave. are no longer in business(not uncommon around here). Still needing supplies, and now feeling hungry and crabby, I remembered Golden Harvest on Maryland! It was my 4th visit that, and I am reminded what I love about this place… It is well stocked with everything I need, and the staff is really good about answering questions on the products. I also think the prices are competitive and far better than our local oversized grocery stores(for the Asian products or produce… I have not priced«American» food items…) The only reason I am not giving it a 5 is that the parking lot is difficult to navigate, and at this visit, I found that many of the canned items I was looking for were dented.

Took an unexpected business trip and found myself on an extended stay. I’m very careful about what I eat, so I had to find a grocery store so that I could continue to cook my own meals. This place had all the fresh meat, fruit and vegetables that I could ask for. The prices were far better than other chain stores and the quality was better. I suggest that everyone who can, make this their regular grocery store & use other places to fill-in the gaps. The owners are friendly and were even willing to order special products for me. I didn’t have them do so b/c I should only be here for another week or so, but if you’re going to be a regular customer, look how happy they were to make sure that this could be my «one stop shop»!

This grocery/deli is a great stop on the Eastside for groceries or a delicious meal midday… I’d say I get lunch here once a week! As far as grocery stores go, it obviously has choice Asian groceries but also recently expanded and is now a place where you can get all your favorite American snacks too. One thing I recently noticed is that they have LITERALLYEVERYSINGLEBEVERAGEOPTIONINTHEWORLD. Seriously. their drink section is an endless array of every kind of soda, water, energy, coffee, herbal, coconut, juice, etc., that ever existed. It’s quite impressive. What I really go for is the deli in back. They make REALLY delicious Pad Thai and sell them in to-go containers in the back. So for the unbelievably cheap price of $ 3.99, I can take out an enormous portion of incredibly tasty pad thai. It’s definitely worth trying, and I’ve been known to make it last for 2 meals, and at that price tag, that’s a thrifty day’s worth of eating!!! BONUS: For some reason, and I may be late to the party on this one, some grocery goods are FAR less expensive in Asian markets than in Rainbow or Cub, etc. For example, I buy some veggies and all my GINGER here, and it’s identical to the kinds that cost more at other groceries. Weird, but a cool trick I’ve learned.
