I’ve eaten Chipotles from 4 different states and didn’t believe other Unilocalers that there could be such a thing as a disappointing Chipotle visit unless you were among the unlucky who got food poisoning. But today I learned that there is a Chipotle that sucks, and it’s this one on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul. Thinking over the whole visit there, I’ve concluded there’s a lack of whatever training Chipotle employees usually get from their manuals going on here. First of all, the line of about 5 people in front of me took longer than it usually would for about 20 people in front of me. The employees were definitely not keeping things moving like they do at other locations. In itself, this would not have bothered me in the least. But. I ordered a bowl with white rice and black beans. Clearly the black beans pan on the front line was empty. The woman called out to the cook behind her«how long on black beans» and he called out«almost ready» which I was interpreting, at first, that probably the woman making my bowl would be waiting for some new ones. However, she just spooned on a bunch of the soupy juices from the bottom of the pan and ignored my protestations that I really didn’t need beans if that was all they had. The other customers around me were getting even worse service but they seemed used to it. When told they were out of barbacoa, the man behind me in line just sighed quietly and told her to put some of whatever meat they had in his burrito. The woman in front of me in line was getting a veggie burrito and when we got toward the end of the burrito assembly line the man working that area asked what she’d like. «Mild sauce» she said, «and lots of lettuce please». He put on a bit of mild and then appeared to be about to wrap the burrito. «Can I have some lettuce?» she asked. He then sighed and huffed«yeah, I know» at her in a manner that reminded me of Seth Green playing an angry Scott Evil in Austin Powers. Then he added the lettuce while continuing to avoid any eye contact with her or any of his coworkers or any other customers. Dude seemed pretty pissed to be working there. All the employees seemed to be struggling to wrap the burritos. Of course it is difficult to wrap a gigantic burrito in a tiny piece of foil. And yet I’ve seen so many other Chipotle employees across this nation, including in the great state of Minnesota, do it as though it were second nature to them. I conclude from this that there is some lack of training for this location. Finally, I got to the register and asked for chips. «Out of chip; no chip tonight» the cashier muttered to me without making eye contact. I grew up in Texas. Mexican food without chips is perverse. But there would be no chips with my order. There was no apology. No eye contact. Just«out of chip tonight». That moment when he said that was when I knew I would be writing this review.

They don’t even pick up their phone, so if you have any questions, don’t expect an answer. Looking at other reviews, my bet is that the in store experience is not any better. This seems to be consistent with experience with other stores. Looking at the media, I expect that Chipotle has grown too fast to keep their loyal followers to stay with them.

I’ve worked next to this chipotle specifically for over 2 years now and always find myself regretting«trying it one more time.» It is the most inconsistent food/temperature and you must always have plenty of time to stand around and twiddle your thumbs.

Slow, slow beyond belief… Go somewhere else, not worth it. I am now writing to meet the minimum review length requirement. Management needs to come in and crack the whip and find some new employees if they can’t keep up

This is the worst run chipotle I have ever been to. They are always understaffed and the people who work there look like they would rather be in the hunger games then actually work.

Every Chipotle I have ever been to has been consistent my husband and I came to this one this past weekend and both of our burritos ripped when they were rolling them and so it was a huge mess to eat I’m very surprised they didn’t offer to make us a new one or just put the filling inside of a new tortilla

The only reason I gave this place any stars is because it’s required or you can’t post a review. There was food I guess and it was edible, but it was cold by the time I finally got to eat it. I have NEVER been in such a slow line for Chipotle even during lunch or dinner rush! The staff seriously moves at a glacial pace. Sure they were nice enough, but WHOCARES how nice everyone is when they all suck so bad at doing their job!!! So it’s fine if you have time to kill, but pick a different one if you have a life or if you’re hungry and want to eat warm food sometime this century. Unless this location suddenly becomes the last one on earth I will never be eating there again… And even then I’d have to be pretty hard pressed to go back!

Usually this place is so slow and the staff doesn’t care if you stand there like idiots waiting. Tonight, it was so slow as usual, but this woman Brynn was amazing. Even my 10yo. commented how nice she was. She was so courteous and kind to every customer.

Food is usually up to the regular Chipotle standards(which is very good in my opinion) but this location is horrible. Painfully slow service. I’ve taken to driving to the Highland Park location even though I can walk to this location. And I hate unnecessary driving.

I rarely do this, but I am hungry and dissatisfied so here goes… Just walked into this chipotle(which typically has decent service) and walked out 5 minutes later because of terrible management. There were two staff cooking and two serving and nothing was ready for service. Two people prior to me had to wait to get vegetables into their bowls, no rice was ready, and we were just standing there. It seemed like everyone was new and clueless and instead of apologizing and cleaning and making this better, the manager said aloud«this is not my shift» and let things fall apart. I was not comfortable eating there and I walked out even though I was the next person in a long line.

Without a doubt the worst location in the twin cities. Hard to find parking, emotionless staff, frozen lettuce and salsas and wrappers who have no idea what the hell they’re doing. The past two times I went(which will be the last) I rewrapped my own mess of a burrito and considered asking the people behind the counter if I could roll it myself even before they defiled it with their lack of skills. Any other location I’ve ever been to has offered to start over if they tear, or they give burrito away for free if you had to wait more than five minutes for an item that you wanted. Aka: fajita veggies. Life is too cruel to be anything but kind, and I hate being so negative. As a service industry worker, Unilocalers with atrocious attitudes make my blood boil. I mean, get a life right?! But… holy s**t this grand avenue location needs a makeover and a reminder that chipotle isn’t affiliated with McDonalds anymore. Get your s**t together, and by that I mean get your basic, hard to get wrong formula back on track. For now, Cedar avenue location will be my spot.

Poor customer service skills by all employees, slower than sh*t service, dirty tables(EVERYSINGLETABLE), chairs stacked before closing. Disappointing. Management needs to step up to the plate.

Blunt staff, not rude but just emotionless. Expected to place the order super fast, little pause was frowned upon! The cashier however was friendly. There didn’t seem friendliness amongst the staff. The area is not clean at 3pm! See the pict. Large open but unclean area. Doesn’t hold to Chipotle standards

Kinda hard to say this but this is the main chipotle that I go to. After today though not sure anymore fruit flies goes as far as the eye can see. All the walls doors and windows covered in them. The main door people use to get into the chipotle from the mall. Was broken and not letting people get through. They knew about it but didn’t do anything to fix it in the mean time. To cheap to use a door stop?

The lettuce/cheese/sour cream station was so filthy from other orders that each new order had food smeared on the bowls and foils. The cashier had to step in back for something so the line got held up. The kid working the station took the down time to go get a soda for himself instead of taking 10 seconds to grab a towel and wipe the thing down. Gross.

I also love Chipotle, and every experience I’ve had at this location has sucked. The final time I visited(about a month ago) sent me right to their website to complain. The person frying chips turned to face the customer line and proceeded to stick his finger in the back of his mouth to pick something out of his teeth. He finished up with wiping his nose on his wrist. Disgusted, my friend and I still ordered. I was excited to see we were the first ones to get served from a new batch of rice… which ended up being poorly mixed with salty clumps. Kudos to Chipotle customer service for their reply to my complaint, however, which included confirmation they spoke to the kitchen manager about my experience and the sending of cards good for 2 free burritos, bowls or tacos… which I’ll be using at a DIFFERENT location. :-)

SLOOOOOOOOOOW!!! Is this really a chipotle? … It’s 5 times slower than any other location I’ve been to. If you own this franchise or are the manager of this establishment I would suggest you hit the reset button. That’s all folks.

I love Chipotle but this was an absolute disaster. The kid that denied to roll my burrito because it was his«second day» could have been schooled by all the chipotle lovers in line. The staff could not care less that there were people waiting in line. I had to request that they take the black charred chicken pieces out of my burrito. The staff continued to leave to check on the trays but walked right passed the overflowing garbages. And the worst part was that there was no manager in site to rally the troops. I am a loyal Chipotle fan but I will never return to this location again.

Chipotle is my favorite food but the last few times I’ve been to this franchise have been the worst. First, I ordered online and got there 5 minutes after the pickup time and it was not ready, waiting an extra 10 for the food. Second I ordered online and they messed up our burritos and third I came in and the service was terribly slow. The cashier was refilling chips that were already filled and the line was way out the door. You need to talk to your team about faster and better service because this is unacceptable!

I have to echo the sentiments of my fellow reviewers for this location. Service is slow Parking is a hassle Inside dining tables are a little dirty and could stand to be wiped down more than they are. Plusses: Most of the time the burritos are good. The few times they haven’t, they have always remedied the situation.
