Brightwines has been our go to wine shop since it opened in 1999. The owner, Dave, knows more about wine than anyone I’ve met, and he is not the least bit pretentious about it. He has informal tastings almost every weekend where you can sample some wines while Dave leads a very informative discussion. You usually need to sign up in advance for the tastings.
Don’t go expecting some glitzy wine store with the snotty help walking around in striped aprons. It is a cluttered little warehouse the organization of which is only known to Dave. The bottles are not labeled with a price but Dave will know it, and it will usually be a bargain. Let him know your preferences and he will track something down you will like in your price range. Once he gets to know your tastes he will make recommendations whenever you visit.
