I had an appointment that somehow didn’t get entered in there system. I came in for the appointment and it was so awesome they still were able to get me in. Thank you, from Greg B.

I would just like to caution anyone against EVER going to America’s Best. I’d like to say upfront though that this has nothing to do with the people, they were pleasant enough. This business is just a racket, that’s the problem. So, I finally gave in and decided to go get a new eye exam because my contacts barely help me see. High power readers work great but I thought hey, it would be nice to have real prescription glasses because my eyes are so bad. I used to go to LensCrafters, but didn’t want to go back after I flipped out on the front desk lady because she wouldn’t give me some sample contacts to get me through a week between when mine ran out and my next appointment. In hindsight, I should have just bit the bullet because she probably doesn’t even work there anymore or wouldn’t remember me. ANYWAY, I went to America’s Best instead on University Ave. $ 69.95 for a free eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses. Okay. Well, I expected contacts to be extra, but they didn’t inform me until afterward that the eye exam wasn’t free if you were getting contacts(apparently it’s a different exam? Didn’t seem any different based on the 10 other eye exams I’ve had.) An additional $ 79. The eye exam was probably the shortest exam I have ever had, the«doctor» didn’t seem too interested in hearing about some of the weird vision issues I had, and after about 5 minutes declared that my prescription was…+4.5. That’s the same as it was before… I can see fine in glasses, but not in contacts. He suggested, as he shuffled me out of his office, that I try a multifocal. No explanation, just have a nice day. Then, I go out to sit down and check out, boiling a little but hopeful that maybe a different brand of contact is the solution… and then the trying to sell me extra crap begins. Special coatings, special tints… SERIOUSLY? I said, «just give me what I came in here for so I can leave.» MINDYOU, when I left the first day, the bill was $ 289(Not $ 69.95 plus $ 13.99 for a box of contacts). I had brought print outs of the frames I wanted from the right price range from online. The didn’t have them. I picked different frames. When they came in a week later, they were wrong. Then when trying to fix one pair and put the lenses in, she broke the frames. Shockingly, the frames were discontinued. I picked out a different pair. A week goes by, LITERALLYSNAPSTHEMINHALF cleaning them to hand them to me! Now, she says pick out a more expensive frame. So I did that. ANOTHER week goes by, and finally they are in. Sidebar, the multi-focals suck, and they won’t give me more daily contacts, until I now miraculously need to have a follow up contacts appointment to see if the new dailies work(they are the same power as before I had this entire clown show) so I just said screw it and ordered two boxes from Canada(like I’ve been doing for the last 2 years.) To top it all off, both of the pairs of glasses I did FINALLYGET, are scratched to hell in less than a month, and I ALWAYS keep them in a case. GARBAGE. I have typically worn high power $ 20 readers off the internet that bounced around in my gym bag for 2 hours and had less or no scratches on them. I wrote them an email and the store manager calls me and wants to give me free Ray-bans for my trouble and to re-do the lenses AGAIN. I said, WHYWOULD I WANTMOREFREEGARBAGEPRODUCTS? No thank you. I’ll just go back to ordering stuff on the internet. What a racket. I had good experiences at LensCrafters however, so I’d go back there. But moral of the story is don’t go to America’s Best. It’s a junk store. Truly a waste of almost $ 300. I should have expected this, but it still doesn’t make it cool. This is a case where you definitely get what you pay for(or not even.)

I received outrageously good service from every staff member I came in contact with at this store – from the lady who helped me pick glasses to the tech to the doctor to the guy who helped me check out and process insurance info. You guys rock! Super nice people and very helpful. Best ever experience at optometrist’s office, and I love my new glasses.
