The Chesapeake Gold oysters we had were beyond incredible, my new favorite mollusk. The two catch-of-the-day Fish available were Wahoo & Barramundi. We chose the Barramundi and were rewarded with a very delicious Fish. This is my favorite Seafood experience as of late. The staff were all very nice and friendly. There is indoor/outdoor courtyard seating and we chose indoor. Wanted to try an AA’s for a long time. Was not disappointed. Thanks, Arthur’s, you are awfully good.

For a small town, Awful Arthur has its shining moments, mainly for their fresh oysters, tons of outdoor seating, friendly customer staff and an ample menu with lots of other seafood choices. Compare to good seafood restaurants in Maryland however, you’ll find that Awful Arthur’s food is fairly average, even though it has that small town charm. For example, the oysters are still relatively expensive. The lobster roll portion size is smaller than the ones you get from Nantucket Reef or DC lobster venues. The soup and mussels are nothing to write home about. And the steamed spiced shrimp were what you expect. They do have a great sweet onion sauce that you can also purchase from their apparel store next door. Having lived in small towns and big towns in the past 10 – 15 years, Awful Arthur is ranked in the middle with their price and taste quality. It just feels like they could do so much better to leave a lasting impression. All I could remember was their fish bone shirt and overworked staff members who I had to flag down in the middle of Saturday afternoon.

Came based on reviews in Unilocal. The lobster bisque had a wonderful flavor, but my husband and I had to cut the one piece of lobster in half so we could each have a taste. The Crabcake was very good, but a bit expensive for the quality. This is convenient if you’re walking around, but if you’re on a hunt for the best crabcake, check out my other reviews for St. Michaels. The four raw oysters we had were delicious, and they had a separate little oyster menu where you could choose from a nice variety of local oysters with descriptions of the taste of each. That was a very unique and delightful experience. We highly recommend the Chincoteague oysters. The outside seating was wonderful. I didn’t like that they had canned sodas.

Had lunch here on Memorial Day and chose to sit outside on the porch. Good food and service. We ordered oysters on the half shell, oysters awful, and shared the lobster roll as our last meal in St. Michaels before heading home. Also, glad we listened to our waitress and tried the waffle chips dipped in the sweet onion sauce. I ended up buying a bottle of the sauce to take home.

Ok restaurant if you are not looking for food other than something to fill your stomach. St. Michaels has many other restaurants that offer more for less. Service was fine but the oysters were overpriced for the quality and the crab cakes were less than average. The selection of beer was minimal if you are a micro fan.

I had the catch of the day, barramundi. It was great. The service was great. However my fiancé got the mussels and they were far from fresh and largely inedible. The mojito she ordered was pure sugar water and not worth the money she paid for it.

My husband and I went here for date night and loved it! The lobster bisque was delicious as was the crab dip. My husband ordered the lobster primavera. So good! Sweet, tender lobster atop pasta in an amazing cream sauce. My chicken Chesapeake was delicious as well. Service is top notch. Employees are very attentive and sweet. We will definitely be back!

After all the good reviews, I decided to pick Awful Arthur’s as our restaurant for a recent date night with my husband. I really appreciated being greeted as soon as we walked in the door! We were told that we could sit wherever we wanted, so we chose outside. The atmosphere and the service were great! The food is the main reason for the 3 stars… We started with a bowl of the lobster bisque… Which is as good as everyone else says it is in other reviews. I would go back just for the lobster bisque. They put more lobster in there than I have ever received in an order of lobster bisque. Much appreciated! My husband thought the lobster in it was chewy, but I didn’t feel the same way. We also got the crab cake balls as an appetizer. You get 4 balls about the size of a golf ball(maybe smaller) for $ 15. I wasn’t all that impressed with the quantity at that price point. They were good though, and I loved the dipping sauce that came with them. For dinner, he ordered the lobster roll. The lobster came on what looked like a piece of toasted bread folded in half. It was not impressive to say the least. The toast was WAY too buttery, too! That says something coming from someone who really enjoys a nice, buttery grilled cheese ;) Again, he thought the lobster was chewy. Not only was the lobster roll mediocre, but it also came with a side of chips. For $ 21, I would expect a much, much better meal! I ordered mahi fish tacos that also came with a side of chips. It was. Good. Not bad but not something I’m running back to eat. It didn’t have much flavor in my opinion even with the pineapple salsa that they serve with if. I felt like it still needed something. I thought $ 12 for that was a fair, typical price. Like I said, the service, atmosphere, and lobster bisque were great, but we will likely try a different restaurant the next time we go to St. Michael’s for dinner.

Thank goodness Awful Arthur’s doesn’t live up to its name! We found the restaurant to be extremely pleasant in terms of service and execution. The waitress was very attentive and offered us a plenty of options as we sat down. She checked on us 2 – 3 times throughout our meal. We ordered raw oysters from the bar, lobster bisque, oyster poboy, and crab cake dinner. The food was very delicious, especially the oysters! The preparation was spot on and the ingredients tasted fresh. My only complaint, and what cost it one star, would be that the portions were a little on the smaller side for what you’re paying. Other reviewers have also pointed this out. Granted some people prefer it like just to keep the waistline down. To each their own, I guess. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I would definitely come back again.

Every dish we had was fresh, tasty and just great. Friendly, helpful staff. A dozen or so oysters on the oyster bar menu. Crab cakes had lots of crab with a roasted corn side and flavorful herbed potatoes. But then there was the apple crumb in a bowl big enough for three people. Wow!

We started girls weekend at Awful Arthur’s and we’re definitely not disappointed. I have been to the restaurant in the Outer Banks and love this one more. It’s inside a former residence home has been renovated into a Charming Eatery. We ate up stairs where they are 3 tables. The waitress was very attentive and the food came out quickly. The crab cakes were excellent. My friend and I had the crab cake dinner and were stuffed. They were perfectly seasoned and enormous. I would have preferred french fries but I didn’t even ask if they were an option. The dinner came with roasted potatoes and corn dish. We can’t wait until the weather heats up so that we can enjoy the gorgeous a new outdoor patio. They have lots of televisions Sports enthusiasts.

Friendly atmosphere, quaint quiet place(at least off season!) with great food. I had the shrimp salad sandwich with homemade waffle chips — excellent. Service was good but not intrusive. Would definitely visit again.

This was a cool place to eat– love the old house that it’s in. The food was good, but felt a tad overpriced for that you got. The rockfish and salmon were excellent, but the veggies and red potatoes were meh. Kids meals were greatly priced(Mac and cheese delicious!) I would def go back! I wish they offered bread while you wait, but that’s just me :)

Walking along the main strip we decided to pop in for dinner here in late May. The white house with a porch and fan looked so chill and welcoming we decided to eat outside to better people watch. The waitress said she has lived here all her life and gave us directions and advice while we were visiting. Really friendly wait staff. My bf got the lemonade, can’t be sure but it tasted home made(Very good but we were charged for his refill while my iced tea wasn’t so be mindful of how many you suck down)! Started out with the oyster order card and picked out a dozen to try. The town has a big history in the oyster/crab industry so you can’t go wrong ordering either of those. At this point the sun was sinking a little lower and we got cold so we were moved indoors to a high table top. I got the lobster roll. I was surprised how simple it was, plump generous meat with little to no seasoning. The bread was slightly toasted and butter on the side so as to not get soggy. The waffle chips were also great. My bf got the crab cake and said it hardly had any filler, all sweet blue crab meat. I didn’t ask for a bite of his crab cake cause I was too afraid he would want a bite of my lobster roll and sharing was not going to happen! I did make a trade of waffle chips for some of his corn asparagus salsa. The corn was grilled and was light and had a ton of flavor! I kept sneaking bites to try and pin point ingredients so I could try and recreate it at home. The prices weren’t bad considering you are paying for the freshest seafood you are likely to ever get. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing. The wait staff will also be accommodating when you get a chill and need to move indoors or can’t figure out what street the muesum is on. Great food and great experience!

The outside appearance doesn’t do the food justice. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the crab dip and my friend had crab cakes. Both were divine. I had the lobster primavera and my friend had the crab cake sandwich. Both equally delicious. Our waiter was charming. The atmosphere was very mellow, local and casual. The place was not crowded, which i appreciated, considering I live in NJ and am used to dining in NJ/NY. Great restaurant. I’d definitely revisit if i come back to St. Michaels.

Hands down, one of the best seafood meals I have ever had. Excellent oyster selection from the raw bar, quaint atmosphere and high quality fish. We had the lobster bisque — SO flavorful with plenty of meat, the Ahi Tuna bites with horseradish ranch sauce(AMAZING) and the sole. All of it was so, so good, I can’t wait to return to St. Michaels to eat there again. Totally worth the 2 hour drive from Baltimore for this place alone.

Started off with crab dip that was tasty and also importantly, not greasy as seems to be the norm at most restaurants. I liked the crumbly topping used. My entrée was the lobster roll which was also very good. The meat was sweet and succulent with minimal seasoning to let the lobster stand out. The roll was toasted perfectly and the homemade chips that came as the side were great! Worth the $ 21 price. Service was friendly but not particularly attentive. The bf would’ve liked a second beer but the server never returned after dropping off our meals. The crab dip would be even more enjoyable it was served with fresh baked bread instead of boring water crackers. His mahi mahi tacos weren’t bad but the fish was dry. They don’t have fountain sodas so it was disappointing to be served a room temperature can of Coke after bicycling for a couple of hours. Lastly, something has to be done to keep pests out. We sat indoors and it was unappetizing to see several flies clustered on the windowsill while eating. Overall, I enjoyed dinner here and would return. Entrees are priced in the $ 10 – 25 range, making Awful Arthur’s an awfully good choice for families or groups.
