I have never been a fan of gyms or health clubs. I’ve always preferred outdoor activities. Last year I had a real bad fall on the ice while hiking and decided I ought to move indoors. I had a lot of friends who bragged or spoke highly of South Shore so I decided to go. It’s great! This place has something for everyone young and old. The entire facility is bright, spotless and the air is crystal clear. The workout area has plenty of the highly used cardio machines and there is a focused machine for every muscle I can think of. Being new to the club, I have visited at a variety of times and have found that midday works best for me. There is no congestion and I have been able to do anything I want without interfering with other users. I haven’t taken any classes, but I have observed that those folks leaving a class are overwhelmingly very happy. Since starting at South Shore I visited another club with the same facilities in Wisconsin.(10 tennis courts, full basketball court, pool, track and all the same machines and free weights) What a difference! The lighting was dingy and the air smelled sweat. It got good reviews. I’d give South Shore TENSTARS in comparison.

Wow Tried to cancel my membership today with«Mark» as I have moved to a new location. Very unfriendly, sarcastic and rude. Can’t see how this club is going to make it with all the new clubs that have customer service this is helpful… would not recommend doing direct debit as they wont help you if you want to cancel your membership. Mark really got rude and then hung up on me. really…nasty experience for someone who has been a customer there for over 15 years!

After working out here I still enjoy the gym. But, the leg equipment is limited, no leg press or hack squat, and the manager will not permit members to use spinning bikes unless you take a class and will not take one or two of the old spinning bikes on to the gym floor. Classes are very limited, and at very inconvenient time, especially if you work. It’s a good basic gym, but other local gyms have more variety, more classes, and open use of spinning bikes. Check out the YMCA, any time fitness, renaissance athletic club, or crossfit tides.

Reliable, useful, fantastic! If you’re looking for a place to workout come here and buy membership! I have been going here for so long and it is so nice! Perfect for tennis lovers though a bit pricey. Still, it will never disappoint. It has everything you need and it is the only place I will go to work out, ever!

Great club. Lots of tennis courts, very clean equipment and super friendly, accommodating staff. Was a bit worried prior to joining that the staff and members would be a bit uppity, but it has turned out to be exactly the opposite. Great place even if you have to drive a little farther than the garbage gyms.

I love this place. I’ve been coming here for years, and whenever I’m in town. It’s what every health club should aspire to: good prices, great equipment, friendly people, and without any of the pretentiousness of city clubs(LA Fitness, Bally’s, etc.) It’s just a nice local club with a fair-sized pool, wonderful tennis courts, first rate athletic machines, and comfortable facilities. I’m not sure anyone else who goes there reads Unilocal, however, which is a testament to its greatness.
