This place is just awesome. It’s simple, if you have a dog, you must go here. Everything about this place is perfect. There is plenty of space for your pup to run and play. There are excellent views and little walks to go on and there is even a small pond for the dogs. The gallery is really special and perfect for dog lovers. There is a spot for donations toward the upkeep of the grounds. The chapel is such a sweet place, but I tend to avoid it. I hate to think about the mortality of my pets. It’s just a great place to spend an afternoon with your best friend(s). Don’t forget to bring your own water and bags for cleanup.

A wonderful place to visit with or without a dog. There are hiking trails, a pond for your dog to swim in, the Dog Chapel & the gallery/gift shop with a lot of different items to purchase.

This place is sheer magic. If you love dogs, you will love this place. From the chapel to the gallery to the amazing views. Your dog is welcome anywhere you are. The people are wonderful and good on them for doing everything possible to keep this place going after the deaths of both the owners. They are doing an amazing job of not only keeping things going, but making it a wonderful experience for dogs and humans alike!

Amazing!!! We were at Dog Mountain and the Stephen Huneck Gallery this weekend and all I can say is that it was definitely the highlight of our first trip to Vermont. We braved and hour and a half of driving through snow, rain and ice to get here and it was so worth it. The chapel is such a serene and special place. You can literally feel all the energy coming off the walls from the photos and notes left to commemorate pets that have gone on to heaven. We bought a giclee at the gallery as well as some other presents which are all incredibly priced. It’s so sad that Stephen Huneck and his wife both passed but they left behind a beautiful place for pet lovers to enjoy. We will definitely be back!

This is one of those places that I would consider«a life-changing» experience. We spent 1.5 days here this past weekend, and my friend and I were touched at our experience. She bought an original triptic«dog walker» piece, and I bought a «bad dog greeting» print. I also bought a print that you can rest on your window sill and the sun coming through it looks so pretty. I’m so happy she told me of Dog Mountain. We spent a lot of time hiking the trails with my greyhound, and a lot of time in the chapel. We also spent a lot of time in the actual gallery. Basically, this place brought us closer to each other, closer to the tragic sadness of suicide, and the love and the pain of love and loss. We are touched, and we are so unbelievably grateful to those who are trying to keep this place up and running, so we were able to experience it for ourselves.

What an AMAZING dog mountain! There’s so much grass and a lake for dogs to run around and party it up. What I really liked was how they were allowed indoors, too! It was great to have our pup run around in the store, and check out the bathroom with us(with the cute dog sink, too!). Oh, and there’s free wifi which is nice, too. I also liked the dog chapel, which was a dedication to all the dogs who have passed away. I got a postcard… his artwork is cute!

I write this review today almost a week since visiting Dog Mountain over Memorial Day weekend. I read on their facebook page that Stephen’s wife, Gwen, has passed away as well. This place was the highlight of our doggie trip. If there was a dog heaven, I would picture it to be a place like this. Dogs are welcome to run and roam free, roll in the grass, or jump in the pond. There’s plenty of his artwork for sale in the gallery, and the dog chapel was covered with notes from visitors all over the world. I wish there were more places like this where we can bring our furry pals. I hope the remaining folks can keep this going because I would love to come back and visit again one day.

I have never been to any dog place so special! I live in Californa and visit Vermont once a year. On Oct.7th2012 was my first time there and I love it. I am a dog fanatic, and this place is for the dog lover. A secluded haven for friends that share a common bond. As I walked on this little piece of heaven, I met people who adored their furry family members. They shared stories of their dogs long gone and the ones that are still here. On that day, my husband and I did a mini hike with our yorkies. They loved the hike and we loved the site. At the end, I went in the chapel and paid tribute to my yorkie Enzo that died way to young. It was bitter sweet. I posted a note for him that said«Mommy and daddy will always lovee you». I shed a few tears and went away thankful this place is here. I made a small donation and prayed that dog chapel will be here next year(I understand that the owner is having some tax troubles). It’s truly a lovly place to visit. All in one visit I got to see my yorkies romp around the site and have fun, meet people that love and loved their dogs, and mourn for my Enzo. Thanks Dog Mountain.

The Stephen Huneck Gallery and Dog Mountain are well worth a visit. We take our dog, leave tributes to dogs past in the Chapel. Yes, a chapel dedicated to man’s best friend filled with Stephen Huneck’s heartwarming dog art, and lots of other fun. Everyone should know that this special place is in danger of being closed forever if they don’t raise funds to pay the tax man. Go to the website and make some kind of donation to help them out. They have been through so much and they provide a special place for dogs and their people. This gem should be protected forever!!!

The Dog Mountain Chapel and Stephen Huneck Gallery is a beautiful place. Just talking the time to read the messages people have left for their beloved pets is very moving. The walls are covered floor to ceiling in messages and photographs. The grounds are well maintained and great for taking a walk with your dog(next time I want to travel their with my dog Sprocket!) The gallery has many reasonably priced pieces of artwork and other dog related items. I would definitely stop by again if I am in the area.

We went to the Summer Dog Party which was a whole lot of canine fun with good people, lots of smiles, and pure joy. Dog Chapel is a special place to sit and reflect and be happy among heartwrenching remembrances for dogs gone to heaven and pure joy from all of those wagging tails, and wonderful tribute to the artwork of Stephen Huneck!

If you are dog people, this is definitely worth a visit. Tucked away outside of St. Johnsbury, the gallery is also referred to as Dog Mountain. The site includes the gallery(collection of items with Stephen Huneck’s art as prints and on assorted merchandise) as well as Dog Chapel. They also have various events throughout the year. The Dog Chapel is an amazing place for anyone who has loved a dog as family. There are various pieces of art(carvings, statues, stained glass) and thousands of notes to companion animals who have passed away. Visitors can leave a note of remembrance and tack it to the wall. It is very peaceful, very moving, and an absolutely beautiful spot.

What a beautiful, peaceful place. Our 17-yr-old dog passed away in February and we have been searching for a way to honor her memory. I came across Dog Chapel online and we immediately began planning a trip. Few things are worth a four hour drive, but this most certianly was. We posted our dog’s picture on the wall(the walls were absolutely covered with pictures and notes — what an amazing feeling being in there was) while our younger one sniffed every inch of the chapel. It is a beautiful place, I highly recommend visiting

I ordered a hand-signed«Love is Give and Take» print through the Alexander Ross Gallery in Cherry Hill New Jersey as a last-minute wedding gift for my dog-loving sister in law and her fiancé. Unfortunately, there was a shipping mistake, and it arrived a few days before the wedding unframed. However, the gallery manager at Alexander Ross contacted Jill at Dog Mountain and she had it overnighted to us so that it arrived hours before the wedding on Saturday — and as an additional bonus, we were told we could keep the unframed print! Both packages also contained a lovely prayer flag set and bumper stickers, so we were able to add those to the gift as well(now both can sport We Love Dog Mountain on their cars!) — and now I have a gift to give to another dog lover down the road :) The print is beautiful, I adore all of Huneck’s work(used to read his children’s books to the little girl I nannied for) and I can’t wait to go with my new brother and sister in law to Dog Mountain sometime — it looks amazing. I highly recommend checking out the Gallery!

RIP Stephen Huneck. We will miss Dog Mountain, the Dog Chapel and all your wonderful dog pieces of art. Thanks for making the world more beautiful and dog friendly.
