This was my second trip to villa sorrento. The first time here was so long ago I couldn’t remember if I liked it or not. Well this trip didn’t bring back any memories. One thing I will remember is to not go back. The food was no better then an average Pizzeria. Unfortunately they don’t charge pizzeria prices. I would not recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant seems like it was once a house. Kinda cramped(they were having a private party in the main dining room so we were seated in another small room). Service was good, food was average I got the mini rice balls and they were cold on the inside, you could tell they were frozen and quickly microwaved. The pork chops were very good in the apple glaze. All in all not bad but I probably wouldn’t go back again.

We have been here before but came tonight with a gift certificate. SOVERY happy to come back. We had 3 appetizers all of which were amazing. My husband and I both loved our entrees — he had a perfectly cooked marinated steak and I had the braised short ribs with papadelle. Great attentive service. Just an over all great dining experience!!!

This is my first review of a restaurant. I usually take the Sebastian Maniscalco view on reviews. I loved my meal so much . I felt compelled to comment. We Stopped in after car shopping with my wife on a Thursday eve about 7:30. It was busy but still had a few nice tables to choose from. I ordered the Papperdelle with meatbals and short rib meat. I could’ve cried it was so good! It was as if my mom or nonna made it. I’m not kidding. It came out steaming hot which is a great sign of attentiveness too. My wife had the pork chop and enjoyed hers as well. I had a great Valpolicella(Erto) which was phenomenal. They give a nice selection of crusty Italian bread on the table too. The waiter was friendly and enthusiastic. The owner made you feel welcome. I recommend it enthusiastically And I’ll be back soon. mike

Very mixed feelings about this restaurant. Pros: They graciously accommodated our large party. The service was super-attentive and excellent. The staff could not have been nicer. The space is lovely. Cons: I’ve never had blander food. Absolutely no flavor at all. Asking around the table, I found that some were happy and some had my experience. Very hit-or-miss. Same with the desserts — the napoleon was fantastic but the apple crisp was meh. I feel like I have to come back and try again before I give this place a solid thumbs-up or thumbs-down.

Thanksgiving catering was a hit! What a great experience with Villa Sorrento. Called a couple of weeks beforehand and spoke with Sal, I explained what I was looking for and how for how many people. He also gave me suggestions to make a traditional Thanksgiving with an Italian twist-which was exactly what I was looking for. The food was soooooo delicious, they delivered on-time Thanksgiving day ready to serve with sternos and racks, set everything up and made sure it was to my liking. My guests were going back for seconds, thirds, and even fourths! Needless to say this will be our new Thanksgiving tradition. Thank you so much for making it a memorable holiday.

This place does not even deserve even one star. Reeked of cigarette smell, unprofessional staff, horrible food.

Villa Sorrento. I enjoyed the atmosphere as much as the food. My only complaint was with the Chicken Sorrentino. It was delicious, so don’t avoid this dish! it’s just that they put two thin pieces of chicken on top of each other, tricking me into thinking it was one… the problem with that is that they only top the stack with fresh mozzarella & prosciutto; I need that atop both cuts of chicken. Other than that slight disappointment everything was great.

I called to see what time they were serving dinner until they said 1030 so I arrived at 930 and noticed only one other table had patrons. So after they left it got really strange with waitors doing laps around us waiting for us to finish eating they were so rude it was uncomfortable .food was nothing to write home about the waiters have no manners walking around yawning and staring. They need to check themselves. Don’t eat here trust me they aren’t even real Italian owners as Italians don’t rush meals ever !!!

The food and service were absolutely excellent. Fabulous wines and cocktails and the steak and chicken specials we had were truly delicious. Love the quiet atmosphere and convenient location. We will definitely be returning, an under rated hidden gem in the town of Saint James!

This is the best resteraunt on Long Island. Excellent service and excellent food at a good price. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. I am a regular when I am in town!

Went there for a Christmas Eve dinner. Unfortunately their regular menu was not offered that night, which was a letdown. They had a special price fixe menu for $ 42 that included a salad(which looked like weeds on a plate), an entrée(the menu didn’t have 1 Italian option) and a dessert(which was an assortment of Italian pastries… pretty lame). I ended up with the chicken, wrapped with bacon and goat cheese entrée. It was quite tasty… And that’s about it. Place was busy, and the manager/owner kept insisting on checking our coats at the door when we entered. That was quite annoying.

If you read the positive reviews prior to 2014 they are spot on. Unfortunately this restaurant has gone so far down hill that I would discourage anyone from going there on a busy night. The service was extremely poor and nasty. The food comes out of the kitchen ice cold. The only positive feedback I could provide is after I re-heated it at home in my microwave it was somewhat tasty. Although by not being able to eat it at the restaurant, my night was ruined. Maybe if you went during the week they could get a hot meal to your table but don’t expect any smiles.

Came here for my grandfathers 90th birthday party. We had a great time. There was an open bar of wine and beer. The food was good and the waiters put up with all of our demands. It was a great party.

It was a pleasure going to Villa Sorrento. I will mention the service first because it was OUTSTANDING. Whether the food was good or bad I could have stayed there and talked for hours with the kind staff there! However, the food was great. Particularly the Tri Color Gorgonzola Salad and the Chicken Sorrentino! I WISH I had room for dessert because when I saw the table next to me get their, my mouth was watering. Excellent experience at this restaurant– I will surely be back.

Ate here on a Wednesday evening at 7. They had sold out of Mahi Mahi. Shouldn’t have happened this early in the evening. Menu was limited but what was available was good. Service was slow but friendly. The Tartufo was one of the best. There are enough good Italian restaurants with more extensive menus on the island. So I won’t be going back

I’ve been here a few times, always professional, good food. This time, they put us in the back room, because they were touching up painting the front dining room. Maybe they should have closed the restaurant for the day? instead of having to be careful walking out so you won’t get paint on yourself? We had a certificate to use. I looked at the printout and nothing was said about not using it during lunch. The waiter said we could not use it during lunch, so we were forced to use it for the dinner menu. The website needs to be updated. I printed it out to see ahead, but when I saw the dinner menu in the restaurant, half the items did not match the ones on the website. We asked about certain items, «No, we stopped that» or, «We don’t do that anymore». Walking out, I saw the bartender fix his pants, putting on his belt. Shouldn’t he be doing that at home? Also walking out, I heard a manager yelling into the phone. But, the food was good. Risotto w/lobster was good, the lobster could have been cooked a minute more, and goes for the string beans also. The tuna was excellent ands the Italian cheesecake.

I know a lot of people that have been to this restaurant. We had a living social coupon and it was pre fixe week. All signs pointed to yes. We went on a Thursday. It wasn’t crowded. A few tables were filled. Included this family sitting in the corner who thought they were at an olive garden just talking it up and being vulgar and annoying for one of there own had a birthday. The ambience was nice at the bar and the 2 rooms for tables. The bathroom needs updating. We decided to go with pre fixe. There were lil extra charges on the menu for food items. I just felt bad for the waiter who had to read the long list of specials. We didn’t end up getting them. I think they should have had them up somewhere or cut down that list. I ordered the fillet migion spring rolls. which were good but a lil oily, the Mahi Mahi which came with green beans and sweet potatoes and he got the meatball appitizer and steak. Both were very good. We decided to dessert, mouse and tiramisu. Both very good. The waiter was very attentive and it was a nice visit.

After many mediocre(at best) restaurant experiences in the area, I was relieved to find Villa Sorrento. The quality of the food is very high. They make real Italian food, not sloppy, saucy Italian-American pasta dishes. I have tried two veal dishes — one scallopini and the other was a filet. The meat was cooked perfectly, it was tender and lean. The vegetables were steamed lightly and seasoned lightly as well. The mascapone whipped potatoes were decadent and delicious. The polenta was superb. My group also ordered the spicy calamari, which did not disappoint. The calamari was still tender(not rubbery) and the red sauce was very fresh, with hints of spiciness. I didn’t get a chance to try the desserts because I was always too full from bread, appetizers, and entrees. Every selection on the dessert menu looks enticing though. The wine list is long and full of excellent choices such as barberas, which are not offered frequently in restaurants. The food is worth the price in my opinion, but be prepared to spend some money if you want wine, an appetizer, an entrée and possibly dessert. I have experienced friendly, welcoming staff and service both times I’ve gone to Villa Sorrento. Our server remembered our group from the first time we went, which is always a nice touch.
