My husband always gets a trucker’s omelet and I go between 2 things, mushroom and Swiss or a prime rib hoagie. Superbly consistent kitchen so you know what you are getting if you are repeat diners. The burger is always juicy and cooked perfectly. The hoagie has the perfect amount of cheese and tender prime rib.

My wife and I stopped at this Saint Ignace restaurant on our way to Mackinac Island today. What a treat. The staff was friendly and the food was great. Rarely would I recommend fish at a place called the Truck Stop, but one of the other guests had it and it looked good, so I took a leap of faith. So glad I did! I highly recommend anyone order the fried fish. They were kind enough to make me a mixed plate of the white fish and perch, it was fantastic. I can’t be certain, but it seemed to me the fish was very fresh. It definitely was not frozen fish patties, that I can assure you. We didn’t order it, but they had a cinnamon roll that looked absolutely amazing.

We stopped here just before we crossed the Mackinaw Bridge and we had a great experience. First of all, this joint is clean, very clean. Also, the waitress was extremely friendly. She treated us as if we were friends. The meals were cooked to order and brought to our table hot off the grill. Delicious and substantial. Prices are affordable. Very good experience. You don’t need a truck to stop here.

A typical truck stop… Good food cooked trucker style. Have visited every time we are in the area. Atmosphere: 3 Stars Its a old time truck stop to its truest form. Not a tourist trap… Truckers and locals Food: 4 Stars Not for the health conscience. Greasy and home cooked goodness. Buttermilk pancakes are always the best. IHOP& Bobs cant compare. Service: 4 Star They treat you like family and are very attentive. A touch of Southern hospitality in the great up north. Price: 4 Stars Very affordable. Tourist traps charge touring prices. Locals frequent due to affordability and friendliness

I’ve been here a couple of times while on road trips. It’s not a horrible alternative to fast food, but it has a few negatives that made me give it 2 stars instead of 3. 1) They allow smoking anywhere in the restaurant. The last time we visited, we picked the side without ash trays, thinking it was the no-smoking zone, but two customers walked in with lit smokes in hand, and the staff just handed them ash trays. Not appealing. 2) The prices aren’t as low as you’d expect for a sort of greasy spoon diner. Omelets are $ 7 or $ 8. A grilled cheese sandwich on white bread — nothing fancy — is $ 3.99. 3) While the portions are large, the food is average to just barely acceptable. For instance, on a recent visit, my coffee was fresh and hot and the scrambled eggs were average, but the hash browns were extra-greasy and not very crispy. If you’re road-tripping, skip this place and check out Audie’s in Mackinaw City instead.
