We stopped in to Grace’s last weekend after an estate sale in Saint Helens. This shop is very full, very nicely displayed, and very clean(the last point being a rarity in many antique stores). This is truly an antique shop versus a vintage shop but we did see a few more modern items sprinkled here and there within the vendor spaces. The flow is very open so it’s not obvious where one space ends and another begins – no walls or partitions so the light from the front windows comes through the entire shop. The clerk was friendly and we enjoyed a chat with her before leaving. Interesting note… This building is 103 years old, used to be a saloon(with possibly a brothel in the upper level) in the 1800s. The shanghai tunnel under the building was cemented in years ago, and the building is reportedly haunted. I felt something odd in the back space of the shop before we were given the history by the clerk. We were told that the staff do not like to go in the back spaces, and that the tenents of the upstairs apartments have heard footsteps and had their doors knocked on at night. Boo!

Grace’s Rivertown Antiques is easy to miss, tucked away on the river side, but be sure to stop by her if you’re visiting St Helens. Definitely the only good antiques store in town, with nice quality furniture and true antiques not just the junk you find at the other ‘antiques and collectibles’ places in town. Their store is well maintained too with minimal clutter and a large double show room. Prices are remarkably fair. Found a nice Art Deco piece here for less than I expected.
