Update: it’s now June 21st and the wine has still not made it to New Jersey. My next move is to report this company to the Better Business Bureau for their unethical practices. We visited this establishment on June 6th with the deliberate mission to purchase wine for my partner’s father, who lives in New Jersey. Lincoln told us that it should arrive by June 15th, and that he would send it out on the 6th or 7th to arrive on time. We were planning to ship it ourselves, but thought that this small winery could handle the task and that it was a better choice to have the winery send it right than us do it on our own. Today we called to wish him a happy birthday and the wines had not arrived. We called the winery and they said that it had not even been shipped! They can expedite it by Monday. So extremely unprofessional and a huge blow to how much we revered this winery at first. Perhaps they are doing too many tours to keep up with their responsibilities to their customers. So much for how much they sold us about the wonders of a small vs. big winery.

This is definitely a hidden gem. I came here with a group of girl friends a few weeks ago and they were a bit concerned at first due to its group size, but nevertheless they were very accommodating and welcomed us. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with 3 lovely golden retrievers followed by a nice chilled glass of their white. My first impression of them was very personable and they treat their guests as families. As we continued with the tour, I learned some much about Tres Sabores and was surprised to hear their vineyards are organic. Their property is beautiful and I enjoyed their surrounding scenery including their organic garden and farm. Along the tour, we tasted a total of 6 different varietal of their wine and my two favorites were their cab and por que no. Of course, I bought a few of them back home. :) Finally, we wrapped up the tour with a picnic. It was beautifully set up and it further exemplified my statement about treating their guests as families. All in all, we had a wonderful time there and an amazing experience.

Wonderful winery! I came here with my one friend. Our appointment was at 1:30pm but because of flight/car issues we didn’t get there until 2:30p.m. However they were so flexible and kind! Just call them ahead of time to let them know that you will be late. Our tour and tastings were given by Brian. He was super melo and chill but we enjoyed having him as our tour guide! He knew a lot about the history of the vineyard and wine. You definitely will get buzzed here. They fill the glass a good amount! You get to taste like 5 – 6 different wines. They give you pistachios to snack on. The family has three dogs as well. They were so friendly and playful. It is a small vineyard and there is no sign on the road that says Tres Sabores, so my friend and I were a little confused when we arrived. We weren’t sure if we were at the right vineyard. Thankfully we were because it was great. I highly recommend it. I took the Porque no? Wine bottle back home. It was my favorite wine. Its nice and dry. Only $ 30 for the tour!

Wonderful boutique winery! Love it! The tour is really nice. The wines are great! Julie, the owner, will actually visit with you. You do need to make a reservation for this winery, but it is so worth it!

Amazing tour, great place for a picnic, and the winemaker is sooooo passionate about the story of her wine — it takes your breath away! Oh, and they have SHEEP! This is a reservation-only tasting experience, so be sure to call ahead.

cute small vineyard. They offer a really good value for a short tour and their wines are very good and reasonably priced. I liked their Porque.

A hidden gem! Small winery but big in charm. The staff is very friendly. Even though is ‘by appointment only’ I showed up without appointment and they were very welcoming and I was able to try their wines. Por que no? And the Zinfandale were my favorites. I left two rings in the restroom by mistake. I called two hours later and they brought them to my hotel. I was so amazed for their honesty, hospitality and friendly service. I highly recommend this winery.

Tres Sabores is a small, bouquet winery which is always wonderful because it’s intimate. We were blessed to get Julie as our tour guide because she’s the owner! We spent time right in the middle of the winemaking process, got to crush the grapes and taste fermented wine from the bins, which was new to us. We spent lots of time with Julie and the winemaker, asking questions and learning so much; Julie is like a teacher… very knowledgable and patient. She is hospitable and so loves what she is doing that you feel like you’re at her home! And she has two beautiful, lovable golden retrievers that hang out with you! You also get to experience her«cave», where the wine is aged. Tres Sabore’s wine is organic all the way — oh and did I say delicious? A great experience/adventure. Thank you Julie!

«Sneaky Outstanding.» The drive to nowhere may have lowered expectations but the heart and soul of this winery would shine through no matter what. Melissa was our host and she finely explained Julie’s, the winemaker, story. From the ecologically sustainable techniques to the small batch winemaking to the link with Purdue’s Ag school studying the deep soil, we loved it. Not flashy but homey. Would have liked to have had one more taste of each of the sampled wines though.

I’ve been to Napa a few times and I must say this is one of my favorite vineyards. Wine — good. Tour — good. Hosts — good. Please come if you’re in the area. They squeezed us in at the last minute and I’m so glad they did. Walked away with a few bottles, including a «porque no» because well, porque no?

What a fantastic winery with wonderful people and wine to match! During our tour of Napa, we visited four different wineries, and this one was definitely a highlight. It’s a beautiful rustic setting, with beautiful gardens and animals. There is also a small wine cave — a cool treat from the hot Napa sun. The tasting was moderately priced, and it’s a 6 bottle purchase for one tasting fee to be waived. This was more than other wineries we visited, but overall, it seemed worth it for the experience and amount of time we spent here. The ZINFANDEL was absolutely wonderful, and we also enjoyed the Por Que No? blend. We happily bought a couple bottles of each and are considering their wine club. They are one of a handful of wineries with a picnic permit, so after picking up lunch on the way, our guide and the staff arranged a nice picnic table for our meal. Julie is very accommodating! If you are able to visit just ONE winery in Napa and want to avoid mainstream tasting rooms, I would feel very comfortable in suggesting Tres Sabores!

My husband and I visited Tres Sabores and loved it. The owner was SO friendly, and she was so sweet to pick some flowers for me out of her garden. We were given a nice tour by a young lady(Michelle? I can’t remember names!) who was so nice. Sitting under the trees with the dogs and looking over the vineyards was the highlight, not to mention the wine. Definitely a new favorite!

Tres Sabores is a great example of a smaller winery where the owner often conducts the tour and tells you everything you need to know about the winery and the wine. These guys were organic before being organic was cool. This is also one of the few places in Napa that is truly family friendly as the kids will certainly get a kick out of seeing the many farm animals and the owner’s beautiful golden labs. We didn’t enjoy the experience half as much when the owner wasn’t giving the tour, but the great thing about this place is they actually have very good wines. Go here, bring the family, and you’ll leave feeling like you’re also part of their family.

I am so embarrassed to write this review… We had THE most incredible experience at Tres Sabores! When we were done with the informative tour and tasting, we all checked our wallets for cash… Since our precious, gorgeous, hospitable wine guide, Danielle deserved a HUGETIP… we realized between us we only had $ 31.00 cash to leave her! Ugh… ok, I’ll write a nice review and buy a couple bottles… So we get to our next winery and there in my wallet is the $ 20.00 i DIDN’T leave Danielle!!! We only left her $ 11.00! I’m just sick about it. Please, Danielle realize you deserved sooo much more than that, and I will try and make it up to you! You were AWESOME!!! We love everything about this place!!!

A Great Experience! This place is as real as it gets. The nicest most accommodating people. Ashley our tour guide was not knowledgable, she was fun, energetic and passionate about their wine. the place is off the beaten path but really a great addition to your wine tasting experience. This is how everyone started! I highly recommend a visit and enjoying a picnic under the big oak tree. Julie, the owner visited and sat with us a bit and she couldn’t be any more charming. It is a beautiful setting and you will enjoy the wines they produced. I really love their chardonnay, Por que no(wine blend) and their cabernet. I look forward to visiting again.

This place was beautiful, and the owners were so gracious. It’s a small winery off the beaten path. After spending the day visiting the big, touristy vineyards, it was nice to escape the crowds at this peaceful place. The«tour» is more or less just a circle around their small property, but we learned a lot about the grape growing process along the way, plus they keep your glass full with tastings the whole time. The wine was some of the best wine I tasted out of the 6 vineyards we visited. My boyfriend and I ended up with four bottles between the two of us. I’m usually a fan of red wine, but their Rosé was amazing, and very refreshing for the 90 degree weather. My only complaint would be the $ 25 fee for the tasting that is only waived with a 6 bottle purchase. Seems a bit high, but I would still recommend visiting. Plus they have two Golden retrievers who are just adorable :)

Very disappointed to write this review. We visited this winery a couple of years ago and really enjoyed their wines. We went home with about half a case last time we were there. Since we’ve been before we didn’t want to do the tour again, we emailed ahead of time and asked if we could just stop by and taste, and most likely buy some bottles. The lady I emailed said that there were only a couple of time slots available, but we found one that worked for us. We were visiting another winery and accidentally lost track of time. So, we called to let them know we were sorry and on our way and would be about ten minutes late for our appointment. The lady I spoke with on the phone said that because we were late that we could not taste and could only buy their wine, or wait and do the tour. We pulled in and there was a limo of people ahead of us. They immediately attended to them, so wait waited… about ten minutes or so, and they proceeded to ignore us. So, we proceeded to back up and leave. Guess they didn’t need our business. It’s too bad, their wines are really good, but the service killed it for us.

This place was really special. Visit them and you will instantly be transported back to Napa Valley in the olden days, when every winery was a small, family-run operation. This place is so much more than a winery. It is an organic farm, home to guinea hens, sheep, and two adorable golden retrievers, a community center where they host organic dinners and movie screenings, and above all, where some serious love for wine takes place. The tour felt more like a friend showing you around their farm and offering you some wine while you were at it rather than a commercial get in and get out winery business. Unfortunately Julie was out that day visiting her sick mother(I hope she’s doing better!), but we got her delightful and kind husband who was every bit as warm hearted and passionate about wine. He showed us not only their vineyards, but also their gardens, their pomegranate plants, their veggie fields(where they get veggies to host regular farm to table dinners), their guinea hens, and their wine caves. We sat around their porch overlooking the vineyards as the sun set and talked about all sorts of things, from how him and Julie met, to married life in Napa. It really felt like you were having wine with an old friend. I was sad to have missed Julie as I hear she engages people in some hands on wine activities but it was such pleasure to visit her husband, their beautiful dogs, in their wonderful vineyard, drinking their delicious wine. Really magical experience.

Napa Valley 2012 Review* You’re scanning these reviews as you try and decide where to go. Stop reading. Call Tres Sabores and make a reservation. Take whatever you can get. Do not pass go; do not collect $ 200. Just go meet Julie and see her beautiful winery. If you can, go for lunch, and sit out at the beautiful picnic tables, and soak up as much time here as you can. This place is very special. I’ve visited my brother in St. Helena on eight different occasions in two years, visiting many of the lovely wineries around this area, but this is the most special experience I’ve had here. Julie is the owner and winemaker. She greeted us, poured our wine, and then it was time for a tour. We made it just in time to taste grapes, measure the sugar in the grapes with her refractometer(a real thing), and hear about how she decides when it is time to harvest. Seemingly a mixture of science, viticulture, and apparently just the whimsy and tastebuds of a talented winemaker. We saw her roses(Julia Child and Ingrid Bergman), we met her Guinea hens and sheep, saw the wisteria and the passion flower, the charming guest house. We visited the wonderfully chilly wine cave, learned about dry farming techniques, and got to sit back and watch someone who loves what they do, so much so that she seems legitimately buoyed and strengthened by being able to share it with a few people at a time that seem to enjoy it. My name is Julie. I have an interest in and love for wine. I have an interest in the land, in being outside, in making something from nothing. It was hard not indulge in a little bit of aspirational daydreaming as I watched this lovely person show us around her beautifully tended paradise, labradors in tow, as magic hour approached and another beautiful day in the Napa Valley came to a close. I felt like this was a once in a lifetime moment; I hope you can enjoy it as much as we did.
