July 11, 2015. Stopping off after Zion en route to Ca like the rest of humanity, I took a break from the car to bike leisurely around town and discovered that this little burb deserves more than a drive through. It’s got many more attractions than the over used main strip of the usual chain motels. Downtown may be shuttered in parts but the main square is a charming, well manicured park of water features, public bathrooms and twice monthly outdoor movies May-Aug. There is also an art walk and what looks like a delightful children’s art museum next to the historical Tabernacle. Clearly family oriented, this place gives small towns a good name– check it out.

Sweet Little Hamlet On The Edge Of Forever SITREP St. George is a great quick little rest stop along Interstate-15 on the way to Salt Lake City. THESETUP With a population less than 300, St. George is barely big enough to service the traffic that comes through it’s off ramps. A few stores and a gas stop keep your attention and fill your needs for about 10 minutes top. And then you’re back on your way. SCENICBEAUTY But what St. George lacks in infrastructure, it provides in scenic beauty, especially on the gorgeous day when I was traipsing up from the Virgin River Gorge in Arizona and heading onward to Salt Lake City. The hills and the nearby mountains make for some impressive memories of visual natural beauty. THELOWDOWN A graceful little hamlet along the way through impressive scenery.
