I was really excited to use the full service card promotion deal that I purchased in front of the local Target. I paid $ 40 cash for 4 services. I called to make my appointment and it was hairy from that point. The owner did not have a cohesive schedule for all of the services. The way it runs is the hair stylists, the pedicure/manicurist, the massage therapist, and the wax girls all share the building, but are separate business partners. The gal that does the waxing owns and runs the business but is not organized and does not communicate with her partners effectively. Once I was able to get appointments for the 4 separate services, I wrote them down on my card. I arrived for my appointment and nobody was expecting me. I fortunately had taken the time to be organized and notified the owner of which services I had and at what times. Frustrating! Lack of organization=lack of income! I had to wait 15 minutes past my appointment time, which was a pain, since I was 10 mins. early. My first service was waxing. The gal was at the end of her day and could not be bothered to change the hair and wax-covered sheets she asked me to lie down on. I asked her to change the sheets and pointed out the grime with a grossed out look. She did change the sheets, but how unprofessional to have to have the client point that need out! She did do a good job waxing though and I tipped her. Upon tipping, I was notified of the catch! The catch is you have to tip 20% of the value of each service. The«value» is listed on the card, but some of the services are over«valued» as compared to other spas. That was not something I was prepared for, especially since they did not accept anything other than cash! They didn’t even have a register or money for change. I did not have enough cash to «appropriately» tip for all 4 services. I ended up writing a check to one of the gals that was nice enough to accept it. I was tempted to not tip as much or at all for having to deal with this catch. The adventure continued with a pedicure. The girl I had for this was very sweet and friendly, super chatty, but also in disagreement with the owner and it made for a lot of negative talk on her part and as a result a negative environment when I was looking for serenity and peace. I empathize that she and the owner do not see eye to eye and that the facility is not ideal for the services they try to provide, but that’s a conversation to have between the business partners, not the client. She did a good job on the pedicure, even though the facility does not have a water bath foot soak chair. She used heated rocks in heated water from the microwave. It was barely warm by the time I got to her — lack of communication with appointment times between business partners. She could have re heated the water, but chose to blame the owner and rant to me instead. I did not enjoy that. I did tip her and at that point was out of cash due to the«value» and % requirement. The next service was a facial. THIS is the ONLY reason I am giving a 3! If it wasn’t for the gal who did the facials, I don’t think Glitz would get as much business. She did a FABULOUS job! She was cheerful, professional, soothing, and created an environment of relaxation. I needed that and almost fell asleep during that amazing facial! THANKYOU! The last thing I had was a hair cut with the same gal that did the facial. She did exactly what I asked her to do and performed with the same excellence as with her facial. I was out of cash and she willingly took a check! She was the only one I was happy to tip. I do not recommend anyone but her. I also recommend that the owner learns how to become a team player and get a cash register or an ipad with a scanner or something! If you want to thrive you’ll need to be better organized, more professional, and communicate with your team and listen to their feedback.

GLITZ is a full-service salon providing everything from hair, nails, skin care; event makeup, permanent cosmetics and much more. The salon itself is charming and well-designed; the staff is professional, friendly, and attentive, and the prices for the quality of service can’t be beat. I highly recommend this salon. This place reminds me of what I am used to in San Diego — except vastly better! I know this sounds like California-snobbery, but this place is a true gem. The only«negative» thing I could say about GLITZ is that the location is a bit tricky to find, being tucked behind the Esplin house on St George BLVD. You can find it between the«Ocean Buffet» and«Patches Of Iris & Violets» business venues.
