Had dinner for two here and it was magnificent! I ordered the lamb curry and my partner ordered the chicken tandoori. Everything was amazing! We chose to have them mild and they were only very very slightly spicy. Barely anything but just enough for some great flavor. The waiter must have overheard me talking about a dessert on the menu and brought it to us for no charge. Altogether a great experience.

This is my second time here. I’m torn because the first time I would have given it a solid 3 or 4 stars. This time I’d give it a solid 2. The buffet has very few options. The mushroom dish is all liquid with a few bell peppers. The naan is burnt to a crisp on the bottom and barely looks cooked on top… My water hasn’t been refilled. There’s little sign of the staff except kitchen noise. I’ve never seen a ground beef dish at an Indian buffet before. The food is tasty but I would never return if this was my first time here. I could have sworn they’d brought baskets of fresh naan to the table last time which would free up an entire section of the buffet. Note: he finally asked if I’d like more water when I had exactly one bite left to eat. :P

OMFG this place is the shit! We always go on Sundays for lunch buffet which is reasonably priced @ like $ 10 or so plus your drink. Theres always a coupon in the local magazine but i never remember to bring it. There’s always a nice selection of curries that are like a goddamn party in your mouth! I’m Indian & Norwegian(wtf, right?!) & as my Indian uncle’s says, I take my curry spice level«half assed.» So their spice level is spot on for my liking. The naan is delish. The deserts are out of this world. And they’re kid friendly. My 1 year old shares off my plate & of course smears the food everywhere but they just says he’s so cute & don’t care he dropped half the food on the floor. The service is excellent. Highly recommend!!!

My husband loves Indian food, and it was my first experience. We both agreed the food was wonderful as well as the service. I ordered the chicken curry, medium, and my husband had the paneer tikka masala, hot. The level of spiciness was just as expected. We split a papadum appetizer and gulab jamun for dessert.

Absolutely delicious every time I have been there. I attempt to try something new each time. I crave the Chicken Josh for weeks after having it. If it’s your 1st visit go when they have the buffet. So many delicious tastes. The aroma as you walk in is so enticing. The staff is friendly and willing to explain the different menu items. It’s my favorite place to dine.

The food is okay, if you like your food at a heat index of 0. I’m a Spinal Tap kinda spice gal – Well, it’s one spicier, isn’t it? It’s not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be eating at ten. You’re on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you’re on ten on your palate. Where can you go from there? Where? Look, I’ll sign a waiver, if that’s what it takes to get food with flavor.

I was in St Cloud for work and after an exhausting day I really didn’t want to leave the hotel. I was very happy to learn this place delivers. I ordered chicken roganjosh, medium spicy, for 12.99 and Naan bread for $ 2.99. Total with tax, tip and delivery fee was about $ 22. My only real complaint was delivery took a long time, nearly 45 minutes. The food was very good, the roganjosh was a nice size portion, had a nice flavor and was spicy but not overpowering. The Naan was wonderful all in all I was quite pleased with my meal. I’d like to try the lunch buffet sometime. Taj, I was there Thursday October 23rd, I placed my order online about 7:45pm and it arrived about 8:30pm. It was a wonderful meal and the delivery delay certainly will not stop me from visiting the next time I am in town. I really want to try your lunch buffet! :-)

My favorite restaurant in town. Absolutely spectacular! The food is always delicious and the staff is super friendly. They have a lunch buffet each day during the week and it is always busy but never too busy that you have to wait. My only complaint is that I did not discover this place years ago.

First time I have been here but certainly not the last. My kids always start with Mango Lassi which were great. The lamb was perfectly done in the Karara Balti and also the curry. Dessert was excellent, had what my kids always describe as the warm donuts in syrup, Gulab Jumun. As a foodie family we always enjoy the minor variations between restaurants and kindly compare. Without hesitation would recommend if looking for Indian.

We decided to try the Star of India, as the menu looked so good. We live in a smaller community an hour away from St. Cloud, and I was craving good Indian food. We will definitely come again! The wait staff was friendly, the hostess was gracious, the atmosphere welcoming, and the food is good, solid Indian food. The hostess gave us her full attention and remembered what each of us needed: our daughter and son-in-law are very gluten-intolerant and I eat vegan. She advised each of us in our food choices accordingly and, before recommending a dish for me, she took the initiative to check with the chef on the ingredients in one dish. They did try to accommodate us when we asked for really, really spicy, but achieved what we considered medium-spicy. See my comments below. We ordered the chicken pakoras and a mixed plate of appetizers. My husband and our son-in-law polished off their entrees — beef josh and lamb palak; our son-in-law liked his beef josh so well that he will order takeout from here when he’s in the area again. Our daughter ordered the lamb biryani and I had the vegetable biryani. She and I felt the favors were more subtle than we’re accustomed to, but it was still worth the trip. About the spicy-ness(or not): Our family likes spice. Our son-in-law has traveled all over the world and was raised in Kenya and Ethiopia, so he is accustomed to very, very spicy food. At home he and our daughter use Sriracha sauce, cayenne powder, and crushed red pepper flakes like catsup. My husband ran around with some Mexican kids when he was growing up, and happily eats Serrano peppers(He calls them high-octane jalapeños.) raw. The staff made what they considered extra extra spicy, but both my husband and our son-in-law felt it was more medium-spicy. We ordered medium spicy for me, but it was what I consider mild — and I don’t eat incandescent food.

The best Indian curry ever. Not that expensive. If you want, they can make your curry really spicy. If you love spicy food, you should try them.

Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I’ve tried about half the menu now and enjoyed it all. Service and atmosphere great too. Strongly recommended

This place needs something. First off they use paper for table cloths, really so annoying if I’d had tape I would have taped it to the underside of the table as every time I put my hands on my lap I had to fight with the edge of the paper really! The food was nothing special all food on buffet was bland. Will I go back, nope! Expected more of an «India» experience. Dissappointed? Yes sir!

Really yum! Initially I was skeptical about going here as I’ve had disappointing Indian food more times than I can count but was really pleased with this place. Great flavors, fair prices, authentic flavor and kind service.

After seeing the movie about Indian cooking(100 step journey) I was inspired to eat here again. It used to be good. And they’ve upped their game. Excellent appetizers. And the curries… Oh my, the curries. You can’t see it but I’m kissing the tips of my fingers and gesturing into the air. You must try this place.

this place sucks. the only reason i didnt give it one star is that the server was nice. i went for the lunch buffet. literally everything was bland; nothing had spice or a flavor distinct to its neighbor. i had high hopes as i think its the only indian place in town and i just moved here and will be here for two years for grad school. i will have to make the drive to mpls. not even moderately bad enough so i can pretend it was okay enough to go back a second time. that says a lot. i am quite skilled at blocking out bad memories.

The food is still«ok». They hired a new girl who is unprofessional and rude. I had been buying here about every other month for almost 2 years; their service has changed and the quality of their meat dishes. Do not expect customer service. All discounts simply remove less than $ 2 or the taxes so don’t get excited by the coupons, they worked it out so they’re nothing generous or a discount. Three times in the past 6 months they have stuffed my three orders into one or two containers to save money. When I politely asked them not to do that they blamed the customer and said«next time you need to tell us upfront» and blamed me for not stating up front the three orders were for three different persons. I asked a question about their assumption and they walked off after taking my money without responding. They have lost my business. If you’re spending $ 34 for 2 meals that fits into the small circular containers I would rather spend my money somewhere they don’t get rude AFTERTHEYTAKE your money. Previous Review 5÷26÷13 three stars Nice restaurant. Prices are fair. Food is ‘home-style’. If you’re not use to Indian food(non seasoning cultural groups) and you want to try indian food that’s mild in spices this is the place to go. As a New Yorker I was not impressed with the quality of the cooking for dinner, but the buffet is well prepared and authentic as the Lower East Side – where you go for high quality low cost food. There is a restaurant in Dayton Ohio near the university that has a higher quality and same price if you’re in the area. When they ask you how ‘hot’ you want it, they literally mean ‘hot’ not spicy. The difference is seasoning in contrast to flavored hot sauce. I wouldn’t buy there chicken briyani or tandori again. It had no flavor and taste like the paste in the bottle at the super-market you would put on the food. However if you’re not native to indian dishes, as I am, then you can’t tell the different, so eat up and enjoy. Their vegetarian dishes are definately worth the money.

Nice simplistic décor. Great attentive service. They have a great vegetarian selection! Had the Navratan Korma and Pashawari Naan. I took other Unilocalers advice and ordered it Indian style spicy. Amazing. Navratan: just enough spice and heat. Naan: i compare it to raisin bread. Just right, not overly sweet. A pleasent surprise to find this restaurant. Highly recommend!
