Dishonest… and belligerent and rude. On Thursday, I took in a set of drapes and a roll of blackout fabric to sew to the back. First she tried at length to convince me to allow her to make different drapes, but as my mother had made these as a gift Insisted that these were the ones I wanted to use. She refused to give me a quote at that time, but said she would call once she had looked over everything. She agreed to return the remaining fabric, as I had provided more than was needed. The following Monday she called and quoted the job at $ 24. It seemed high to sew four straight lines around the edges, but I agreed. She said they would be ready by Friday. I arrived at 1:30 on Friday but she stated that the job was very difficult and wasn’t ready. I needed to come back again. The next time I went in, the drapes were ready, but she said that she was going to charge $ 30 instead of $ 24, and that she was still«losing money.» I asked her why she didn’t call to inform me of the price increase, and she said«I don’t have time to call.» That despite the fact that she not only had all week, but that she had an opportunity to tell me the first time I came to pick up the drapes. When I explained that I had agreed to $ 24 and I expected her to honor her quote, she became belligerent and said«So you don’t want to pay.» I replied that I had no trouble paying what We agreed. I asked why she thought it was okay to refuse honor her quote, and why she had not informed me of a change. Again she went on about how she doesn’t have time to call. She then took an irrelevant tack, saying that I couldn’t get out of paying sales tax, as if that was the issue. I said I had no problem paying $ 24 plus tax. She then went to the register and rang it up for $ 30 plus tax. I told her that if she wouldn’t honor her quote, the extra $ 6 would be the last she would ever make from me, and that I would inform others of her practices, which would likely cost her an awful lot more than $ 6. She insisted that I pay $ 30 and refused to honor her quote. BTW, she didn’t return the leftover fabric and said she would«call in a week or two» to let me know when I can pick it up. I fully expect that once again she will be too busy to call. Knowing my story, you can decide if this is the sort of person with whom you wish to do business.

We finally got tired of the poor service week after week and we have started useing a new dry cleaner. some of the issues we faced with Dixie Clesners included — buttons ripped off, marks from unclean machinery, gum on shirt, incorrect pressings, stsibs that wern’t on the clothing when we dropped it off, etc. We gave them the benifit of the doubt, even though they never took responsibility for any of their errors. We started going to Neighborhood Cleaners about a month ago and the quality of service is so much better and they are cheaper than Dixie Cleaners.
