Stopped by here just to get some rest on our drive to southern Illinois but we actually ended up leaving after 15 min. We arrived at 2am and as I walked in to get a room I found the worker sleeping at the desk. It actually took me a few minutes to wake him up lol… He was nice and gave us a room quickly and a small discount for just staying a few hours. When we entered the room it smelled like an ashtray(even though it was non-smoking) along with an unpleasant scent of mold. The carpet was old, worn down, and dirty. Now we weren’t expecting a 4 star hotel by any means but cleanliness should be a standard across any chain establishment. The kicker for us was when my wife prepared to take a shower the shower did not work. So we packed up our bags, went downstairs, and got a refund for the room. The guy at the desk tried to give us another room but we kindly declined saying we’re just going to hit the road. We’ve stayed in many motels during our road trips but this one just was not up to par. At least they didn’t have cockroaches…

It only deserves one star because they let us check in early. Rooms and hotel is dirty. Floors look like they are never swept and shower was falling apart. They gave us two unwanted wake up calls at 3am. It really was a hole in the wall.

I stayed overnight here on a Friday, because I had to take an exam at 9 am in Wheeling, WV. It made more sense to spend the night than to drive all the way from Pittsburgh in the morning. This hotel seemed as good as any, so we gave it a try. Everyone we encountered at the front desk was friendly, smiled, and made pleasant small talk with us. Our room was on the second floor, far from the elevator, which was nice. I had gotten a room with a jacuzzi, since I wanted to be able to relax before my exam. The jacuzzi was indeed a jacuzzi, not simply a bathtub with a single jet. it was big enough for two, and had a seat where you could sit out of the water dipping your feet in if you wanted to. Mattress was all right, not especially comfortable. Free wifi worked very well, and it was nice to have a desk in the room. Also had a microwave and fridge which were handy. The view out the window was quite pretty as well. I paid about $ 120 for the room, which I think was overpriced. Yes, the jacuzzi was nice, but everything else in the room was pretty average, just like any cheap hotel room, and I don’t think they need to charge so much just for you to have a bath with jets. The things I didn’t like were that there was some kind of vibrating/humming sound that was pretty constant during our stay. Maybe our room was right next to a motor of some kind, or some kind of power equipment was attached to the outside wall, but it was a little distracting. Most people wouldn’t probably notice, but I have sensitive ears and I was anxious the night before an exam, so it did bother me. Also, the breakfast was really minimal. One kind of tea, maybe six tiny and dry looking chocolate mini-donuts, a few cereals, premade waffle batter(the only«hot» option), a few apples… nothing appetizing, especially if you want anything substantial. If you want a place to stay just for convenience, it would be worth the price(if you don’t get a jacuzzi room!) but if you really want above-average comfort, I’d like elsewhere.
