Service is usually quick and very friendly. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation if you plan on visiting during the weekend. The service was fast and the hostess seated us quickly but it does fill up quickly and you may have to wait to be seated if you don’t have a reservation. The sushi here is great and the quality is consistent. I always get something from the nigiri section as well as a chef specialty roll for my dinner. The rest of the menu is very diverse and will suit anyone’s taste. You can also order hibachi grill food from the regular dining area which is a plus. The hibachi section is more expensive as to be expected but the chefs put on a good show and you will leave the place with a full stomach regardless of whether or not you sit for hibachi or in the regular dining area. The only complaint I could think of is that the building is relatively small. The hibachi area is much bigger than the regular dining but that shouldn’t deter you from trying either side of the restaurant. Overall this is a great place with a relaxed and modern atmosphere and definitely the best sushi in Schuylkill County!

Well again extremely disappointed. Big shocker there, huh? Nice setting, typical for a hibachi place. Looks clean, was welcomed right away. And it’s downhill from there. Does anyone know what they’re doing here? How do I know more about fish than you? How do I know more about sake than you? Looks like a good menu right? WRONG! All I was in the mood for was a little sashimi, seaweed salad and a roll or 2. STAYAWAY from their sashimi. Where do they buy their product and when? Sorry guys, yes I am aware of my surroundings but there’s no excuse for serving what you are serving. All fish, raw or cooked, has flavor. The great thing about a good sushi spot is, when you eat raw fish YOU can’t hide anything. I’d love for the health department to come in and check their food/refrigeration units. The stuff I was served was not fresh by any means. Oh by the way, masago, tobiko and ikura are NOT the same thing. Yes, they are eggs, but distinctly different in flavor and the type of fish they come from. Why do I know more about this than you? I asked for masago and tobiko sashimi and she comes back with the statement, «Just so you know, they’re are both the same!» I know I’m Caucasian, but what you can’t see is my knowledge. Don’t judge! Seaweed salad should not have iceberg lettuce with it. It’s a SEAWEED salad. This was the only thing that was good. Low and behold the next morning my stomach was upset and queasy. Gee, I wonder what I ate. On a separate note, I’m starting to see a trend around here. I’ll get back to you on this later. Thanks!

The restaurant is new and pretty nice inside. We weren’t sure what to expect for quality of food but it turned out to be a really great meal. Sushi was excellent as well as the teriyaki chicken dish. I will definitely be going back to try the hibachi side of the restaurant.

I have gone here several times now, but this review is particularly based on the past few visits. sushi is always good. Never had an issue in this department. They normal have new rolls drawn on the board. I still get a sweet potato roll. It’s A+ there. 7 of 10 times maybe our food«steak» is cooked correct. It’s hard to cook a steak medium sometimes I guess. Table seating is always an issue due to how small the dinning area is. I never once seen the back room used. But I always see the waitstaff in there. Prices were always a but high. 1 chef special roll $ 13 didn’t find 8 bites worth it since it didn’t have much flavor. 20 each for two entrée meals. Small soup small salad but I noticed the times iv come seems the amount of protein is getting smaller and the carbs are getting larger«rice/noodle». The food and cleanliness is what helps the 3 star. The staff is what made me go from 4 to a 3. Last night our waitstaff forgot to put in our appetizer. She was very confused when we asked for extra seafood sauce and hot sauce. Salads came out with soup then entrees. After finished my sushi roll came? Ordered that with the appetizer. Questioning the shrimp tempura they seen it was never entered. I won’t judge on broken English but if they ask me a question and I can make it out, it makes ordering difficult along with when they have a hard time understanding. Serves takes 2x as long to get even entrée as it use to so the kitchen is slower. Maybe staff doesn’t pick up as quick. But if u go to DD drive thru the kitchen staff is almost always seen outback smoking. Food quality, 1 star Environment 1 star Cleanliness 1 star Staff –2 due to the ongoing issues after being there a few times.

This place served an excellent salmon! Not over cooked tender and very tasty! A little gooey on the rice but the vegetable were outstanding! Wife had the shrimp she wiped them out and commented on how good the vegetables were done! Service was good. You can order from hibachi menu in the regular dining area if you prefer not to sit by the grills we chose this option for our first time here. I like sitting at the grills. Next time! Yes there will be a next time. They did make a pretty good Martini too!

I’ve been to Uma multiple times now, and I’ve only been disappointed once. The first trip there was opening weekend for a co– worker’s birthday. We have a hibachi reserved ahead of time, however our wait time was absolutely ridiculous even after being seated. People who got there after us had their hibachis flaming before our orders were even taken. But, the manager took our first round of drinks off the tab, which we greatly appreciated and sent out some edamame when we told him how long we were waiting for out hibachi cook. Ever since, my experiences have been much better. The service is prompt, the food is delicious, and everyone enjoys the show. Their sushi rolls are very fresh and well constructed. If you’re looking to save your budget, head in for lunch. They did a full Hibachi for our party of four to celebrate my mother’s birthday. It was literally half the price of dinner(which we didn’t know ahead of time) and more convenient for our schedules.

Good chef, they get you in and out as fast as possible. Brought check before done eating and lurked to pick up after signing. Front staff to busy to say good bye, 3 standing by the podium as you exit. Food was ok not great!

Had lunch a few times and worth going. Food that comes from the kitchen isn’t as fresh as the sit down show, but considerably less expensive. Sushi very good. I love their milky peanut dressing on the salad. If you order an appetizer insist it comes out first and tell them I don’t want my food until 15 minutes afterwards; otherwise its all schlepped out at once.

Went here with friends for dinner. I don’t like that they handle everything with the same utensil(raw red meat, raw fish, raw chicken). Guy at hibachi was nice but didn’t ask us what sauces we’d like. I have a gluten sensitivity so when he drowned my food in soy sauce, I was a bit shocked! It is really an overpriced stir fry. Not really interested in returning.

This place is so unlikely for Skook, yet it works and the food and experience is delicious. I’ve been here multiple times with friends and family, and the whole Hibachi act never gets old. All of the chefs at the grill are very talented and charismatic, and both adults and children will get a kick out of their antics(flipping vegetables into your mouth, shooting saki into your mouth, etc). It also helps that the food is delicious — I’ve never had a bad plate of noodles, veggies, and chicken/seafood. The serving sizes are generous so bring your appetite or a couple friends. If you’re worried about the price, go during lunch — same meal, same performance, less expensive.

As a frequent customer of the sister location in Bloomsburg, you can never be sure what you’ll run into at a second location. The restaurant is in an newer outparcel of the Coal Creek Commerce Center, formerly an Party Outlet store. Location is of decent size, but not huge. Went with the Sushi Roll Lunch w/three rolls. Soup was good, had a nice flavor. Rolls were delicious. Philly Roll had good favor, Eel Avocado Roll had a delightful strong sauce, and the Spicy Shrimp Roll had a nice kick, but not too hot flavor that I was exactly looking for. Really happy with my experience, Sushi was great, service was quick.

Had hibachi this time as well as sushi. The chef was hysterical and kept the kids engaged. His aim was a little off — I missed all the zucchini which never happens. The best part, the food was delicious. Sushi was top notch and the chicken and filet mignon were done to perfection. Our youngest even at salad — I need the recipe for their dressing!

The atmosphere is rather lame, the staff are Chinese, not Japanese, but the sushi is top-notch. I was starting to worry when I heard nothing but Mandarin. My experiences with Chinese restaurants serving Japanese food have generally been bad. Nevertheless the sushi was prepared properly from excellent quality, fresh fish. Simple, quick, very good, and reasonably priced. The drinks are too large and you won’t hear much from the staff after receiving your food, but I would still dine here again if I passed by.

Yay for the fact that Schuylkill County finally has a decent sushi place! I’m rarely in the area these days, so I’ve been hearing good things about Uma long before I had the chance to try it. I met friends for lunch, which I recommend doing based on the other reviews. We sat down immediately. Service was a little slow but I didn’t expect a whole lot. I got the chicken teriyaki bento box and a spicy tuna roll. I had a maitai to drink and it was nice and strong. The chicken teriyaki was really good — not in the least bit dry. The spicy tuna roll was pretty standard. Not all that spicy, though. The bento box also includes a salad, California roll and these little shrimp dumpling things. I don’t remember what they were called but they were yummy! I’m excited to find a place that I won’t mind coming back to repeatedly when I visit the area.

Not bad for Hibachi. Not Benihana by any means but still good. You can’t beat the lunch special prices. I prefer the noodles over their rice any day — very tasty.

Great hibachi meal. I thought I would leave hungry but it was quite fulfilling. I also ordered the yellowfin neck chain as an appetizer. What a treat! I felt bad for the station next to us who seemed to get a less«entertaining» cook. He may be new. Just glad we didn’t get him.

We have been there twice and both times were horrible. The first time was shortly after they opened so we excused that fact, but they were definitely not ready to be serving yet. The second time was a few months later. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated(which was fine, it was busy). Once they sat us at the hibachi table we were able to order our meals and some sushi. The sushi came out with the salad and then the soup. We then waited another hour for the cook to come out and fix our meals, when he didn’t come out we paid for what we had and left. The hostess apologized and gave a small GC and even said«We’re really bad». Wow! A few weeks later we went to order some sushi to go. We waited almost 30 minutes for our sushi! We won’t be back. Would much rather drive to Hazleton or Wilkes Barre for good service(Mirakuya).

Food was excellent but a bit greasy. Would have been 4 stars if not for the staff. The hibachi chef called every female in my party«baby» constantly and made several sexual innuendos. I thought it was only our chef, but«yeah baby, swallow» could be heard from every station. If you go for regular dinner, it’s pleasant. If you go for hibachi, you may get a side of sexual harassment.
