This is my very first negative Unilocal review, but I do not want anyone else to experience what I just did at this salon, so I must write it. I went in for a mystic tan and came out green from head to toe. It was horrific. I called an hour later and asked for my money back. The woman tried to say I was probably wearing lotion and it would have«probably» turned brown. I was not wearing lotion. She said she’d have the owner call me about the refund. He never called. I Googled it and found out my turning green was from the solution being old which caused it to decompose and oxidize. It was not my fault. I was owed an apology and a refund. I didn’t get either. Horrible place, horrible experience.

I have been going to Sundays for 8 years. The old(now closed) Greater Mack location was always my preference of choice considering it was closer to my house than the Harper location. The girls that worked there were always really cool and with my student discount the prices were extremely reasonable. But, since this location has recently closed, I had no choice but to start going to the salon on Harper(which was ok because the actually transfered my favorite bed from the closed location to the open one… yay!) Weeellll, a couple of weeks ago my brother found a gift certificate to Sundays that he had won in a raffle and gave it to me because he no longer tans in tanning booths. This was sooo exciting for me because I had been meaning to go get my weekly dose of Mystic Tan and getting it for free was even better. I walked in and was greeted the owner of the salon. We had a nice brief chat about Mystic and how much I loved the color I got from it and how addicted I was to it. When I excitedly showed him the gift certificate he immediately informed me that he could not take it, for it was too old. «Too old?!» I checked before I walked into that salon and there was absolutely no expiration date on it. The owner told me it could have been up to 20 years old and he would not honor it. Well, my brother is 20 years old so unless he was given the gift certificate as a present out of the womb, it was not 20 years old. Needless to say we bickered back and forth just for me to walk out the door pissed and blood boiling. What is the saying again? «A pleased customer tells 3 people and a not pleased customer tells 10′? Anyone in the customer service business know that the customer is ALWAYS right. For a merely 10 bucks of what it would have cost this guy to spray tan me, he instead decided to humiliate me and make me never want to step foot in there again. Since this incident I have been going to Total Tan on Greater Mack(coincidence? I think not) The people there are soooo nice and accommodating. The owner of this salon even gave me a coupon for a free tan because he felt so bad about my experience(did i mention that Sunday’s Mystic Tanning machine also got stuck and continued to spray me until I had to jump out? I was half white and half orange for weeks). Total Tan also has MUCH better beds. But I will review them later. Anyway, bottom line, ditch Sunday and tan on any day of the week at Total Tan.

I have been going to Sundays Tanning since I have lived on the Eastside. I started going because they offered some great coupons in a neighborhood mailer and I haven’t looked back. It is very clean, spacious and I dare say luxurious for a tanning salon. It smells great(yes, I know weird, but they always have great smelling candles burning) and the staff is friendly and helpful. Their tanning is not cheap, but I also don’t get burned like I used to at cheaper salons. They also offer great email coupons once you sign up on their mailing list. Also, they have great, long and late hours. So if you are looking for a place that offers base level, VHR, high pressure or Mystic tanning, check out Sundays… you won’t be disappointed!
