I’ve been going to Fresh Harvest Market(formerly Vaccaro’s) in St. Charles for many years. The fruits and veggies are always high quality and attractively displayed, and the staff, friendly and helpful. This neighborhood stand has gradually expanded into a full-service business offering everything I need. Highly recommended.

Vaccaro’s is great because it’s close to my house and they have a nice selection of fruits and vegetables. They also have an assortment of jellies, salad dressing, dried fruits and an array of nuts and other treats. In the coolers they have salad fixings and some dairy products. Also, they sell a variety of salsas and pickled items. The habanero salsa is mighty spicy! Mike O. loves all things spicy and this does the trick and even gives him the hot hiccups. The only item I wish they sold is fresh herbs. This location is open spring through the fall. I get so excited when I see them setting up because I know I’m going to get quality fresh fruits and vegetables soon. During the spring there is another business that sets up shop for a couple of months selling plants(flowers and veggies). I like to buy my plants for my pots and the occasional hanging basket of flowers or a fern. When it’s getting close to the close of the shops season they sell their plants for 10, 20, 30, 40 then 50% off as the weeks grow closer to the end. I’ve gotten some nice things at the end of the season for the discounted price. Total score! When fall arrives they truck in the fall goods like pumpkins, hay, mums and corn stalks. I love fall, but that means that Vaccaro’s will be closing for the winter. I don’t like winter at all. As long as I can make it through each winter I know I can look forward to spring and all of the goods I get to purchase at Vaccaro’s.
