Everything I’ve had from there has always been good! Reasonably priced and quick service, very friendly staff. Margaritas anyone?

Yum! Yum! Yum! Everything is good from chimichangas to queosadillas to the margaritas! The prices are great too and they have great lunch specials… you can’t to wrong. Come hungry!

This is now my second time eating at El Agave while visiting my brother. I am from Chicago and wish this restaurant could move there. The service, food & drinks are all amazing. I definately recommend eating here!

Always great service, great drinks & food! Wish I could go every week but my diet will not allow it.

Meh, not impressed. Food was pretty mediocre. Guacamole was bland and the chips seemed greasy. Unlikely to return.

Great place to eat. The Pollo Guadalajara is awesome. Tends to be busy every night but it’s worth the wait.

We go here a lot! I’ve eaten inside, outside, and had carry out. Always the service is great. Every time we have out of town guests we bring them here one night. Guests are always satisfied. Most recently went here with friends for cinco de mayo. It was busy but service was still prompt and food came hot and fast. Margaritas were(and always are) delicious. I have tried a good portion of the menu by now. Haven’t tried one thing I didn’t like. The fajitas will not disappoint. But my absolute favorite is their pork tamales. TRYTHETAMALES! Prices are great. Feed a family of 4 for under $ 50 or so? With great service to boot? And no dishes to do after? I think so !

First of all, I had Googled«The best tacos in St Louis», and this place popped up. Since we live near by, my wife and I made it a destination lunch experience. The Good: The place was clean, had an inviting, smoke free bar and the staff was friendly and efficient. Very pleasant ambiance. The Bad: The food. It started with the chips and salsa. The chips were flavorless and with the consistency of thin pork rinds, not at all like classic corn tortillas. The salsa was thin, watery and bland. No flavor and not a trace of a vegetable other than it was red like a tomato. I came for the tacos. I ordered the combo with one beef and one chicken taco and beans and rice. My plate came and the food was gray. No garnish, no visible vegetable and with the house pork-rind tortillas. The beans were gray and runny, and my first reaction was that they looked like plastic joker vomit. The pork-rind tortilla tacos were covered with flavorless, coarsely shredded white cheese with no meat, lettuce or tomatoes visible. Pico de gallo did not seem to be an option. The ground beef was gray. No char, no flavor, no texture. The chicken was boiled soup-chicken chunks, and again, no flavor, no char, no texture. As a bonus, the tacos had been scrunched into the runny, plastic vomit beans and were mushy and had disintegrated, making them impossible to pick up and eat with your fingers. My wife ordered the taco salad. Again, the presentation was gray. No garnish, no pico de gallo, no guacamole and a mushy, pork-rind taco shell. The same bland, flavorless ground beef. I am offended when an attractive, seemingly well run restaurant is the purveyor of slop. My wife and I left with the feeling of an overdose of White Castle… Queasy. It looked like a great place to enjoy monster margaritas, but if you want decent Mexican food, this is not the place.

Went Friday night and had about a 10 minute wait. Pretty packed. The Margaritas were very good. Ordered the Shrimp Diablo and a chili relleno and they BOTH rocked. The Diablo was very spicy and the relleno was cooked perfect. Definitely be back.

Divey place but it was packed so we gave it a try. Service was great, the server steered me away from the«light margarita» and after a taste I agreed. Stick with beer here. The enchiladas El Agave were delicious if you like shrimp I suggest it. Good chips and salsa!

I used to love coming here. The food is great. The service sucks. My family and I(3 of us) sat there with our drinks and chips and salsa for 20 minutes. All the servers stood around talking while we waited to order. Finally we walked out. Right after we walked out, we could see them through the window, they immediately started bussing our table. I don’t get it. We’ve had to wait forever for our check a couple times, but never sat for 20 minutes waiting to order. It will be a long time, if ever, before we go back.

I had the cheese burrito and quesadilla combo with rice and cheese dip and it was delicious! Must try if you’re in the area!

So here’s my deal with Mexican: give me a good margarita and salsa, and I can forgive many ills. I’ve had some decent dishes here, but the margaritas aren’t very good, so we don’t come here even though it’s way closer than other Mexican places.

By the pervious reviews, I was excited to try this place. However, I will not be back. I have never had a strawberry margarita I didn’t like. The pitcher of strawberry– iced, margarita taste like a a strawberry lime-a-Rita. Not good! The service, he makes it seem like we are bothering him by being here. It’s only 7pm! Plus. 50% of the people here are wasted. Seriously, one college kid is passed out on the bench outside. Food, you can’t really mess up Mexican.

Service is ok staff is nice and attentive. But the food was disappointing. My Chimichanga was plain no flavor and the cheese dip was salty. I was inspecting more of this place.

I’ve been going here since it first opened and I would say I eat here at least once every 3 weeks. The staff is very nice and helpful and seem to generally appreciate having you there. This is also one of the cleanest restaurants I have found in St. Charles. The food is about what you would typically expect from a Mexican restaurant in this area but it is always consistent and and delightfully delicious.

Apparently I’ve been here a fair number of times. How odd. What am I doing in the St Louis area in the first place? Solid tortilla soup. Solid tamales. Waiters with mustaches and awesome leather belts. So many mustaches. This is a step up from the zillions of inexpensive Mexican places that cover everything in cheese. This is a fine place for a quick and inexpensive lunch(or dinner I suppose).

We stopped in for a quick lunch. It was a good choice. The staff was extremely friendly. I couldn’t ask for a more polite server. He took our orders and the food was out in less than five minutes. It was like fast food wait times, with ten time better food. The prices were very reasonable and the food was on par with the best of Chevy’s. It’s a welcomed change from Taco Bell, Chevy’s and the other chain-mex restaurants. Give it a shot, and while you are at it, order a shot too! Haha!
