This is literally the worst placed I have stayed in a long time. The hotel is tired and run down. It smells like smoke. Nothing has been updated in years. The staff is unprofessional and very reflective of the entire operation. They are nice, but woefully untrained in running a hotel. Example: I watched a women go back and forth from bringing out breakfast to the lobby and cleaning the lobby bathrooms. I’m not kidding. Sleep in your car.

I don’t think I can give less than 1 star. There were bedbugs! We videoed them!!! Bedbugs!!! Glad I habitually check every room I stay in as soon as I get there!

The employees were nice, friendly, and were trying to work with what they have. The room, well, that is a different story. The bathtub faucet leaked a steady stream. I reported it and it never was fixed. Towel rack had pulled away from the wall, never fixed. There were sequins on the carpet indicating that it had never/rarely been vacuumed. The dust buildup on the furniture indicated that it had rarely been wiped down(although we did note throughout the week that the room got dusty fast, possibly due to the freeway very close). However, there was a true ¼″ of dust buildup on the lamp base extension arms(that held the wall lamp away from the wall), indicating it had NEVER been wiped down. Lots of pillows on the bed, not one of them comfortable. AC did not work well. Men came and looked at it, tinkered with it, and got it to sorta work. We paid a convention price which was still too much for the quality of the room. We found out at the end of our stay from one of the housekeepers that they are not paid an hourly wage — they are paid by the number of rooms they clean. That totally explains the shoddiness of the housekeeping. There is no reason to be thorough when one needs to clean as fast as possible to fulfill some sort of quota. At the same time the front desk lamented that they cannot find or keep housekeepers. BTW, the freeway being nearby did not bother us, me especially, since I grew up right next to a freeway. However, if you are noise sensitive, I would bring earplugs to sleep with. I did not notice the noise from other rooms that another person posted about. Oh, yeah, «breakfast.» Powdered eggs, frozen microwaved sausages. You can make your own waffle and the cereal was good. Yogurt if you get there early enough. We were there for a genealogical conference and I told the conference organizers not to use this hotel again. Bottom line: It’s a place to sleep, pricey for what is offered. Very nice staff, especially Ayman.

Water was pouring outta shower faucet all night. Probably many nights before too as there was mold on entire ceiling. Every step a person took in the 4 rooms above sounded like a boulder dropping. The guy next doors conversation about driving 11 hours sounded like it was coming from the bed next to us at 5 am. No coffee cups in room. Although Very friendly service. In fact the best customer service I think I have ever had at a hotel. Gotta give it one star though. This wasnt a good night sleep.

Pluses: Location — Short drive to historic St Charles. Plenty of retail and eats within walking distance. Right off I70. Beds were comfortable. Rooms reasonably clean. Service is good. Beds were comfortable. It’s half the price of the Ameristar. Minuses: Pool was dirty and half the lights were out which made it tough to see the dirty pool until you were in it — thankfully a shower was nearby. While they have a full hot breakfast, the food is not very good. Day(or more) old bagels — microwaved scrambled eggs & sausages — biscuit in the biscuit and gravy was more like a hockey puck. We stayed two nights and paid for breakfast morning #2. Facility maintenance — upon arrival our door was very difficult to close and impossible to deadbolt. The 2nd shift front desk person was able to remedy. Our bathtub faucet also leaked(not dripped — leaked). Fortunately we were able to close the door and it did not disturb us. The biggest complaint I have is related to my booking process. Generally when I book online I ignore the«number of people» in the room option and just book. Turns out they charge $ 10 a piece for persons #3 and #4 per night. I suspect that’s to help offset the cost of the«free»(and inedible) breakfast. There’s no other reason to pop me for an extra fee — there’s 2 queen beds, what do you care how many people are in the room. We’re a family of 4, not a bunch of drunken frat boys. By the way, next time you charge for extra people tell housekeeping top put 4 towels in the room. I ended up sharing one with my wife. Next time I’ll book earlier and stay at the Country Inn & Suites — with your added $ 20/night to the room for my kids it’s the same price.

The room was dirty, there were ants coming out of the air conditioner, the pool murky, «hot breakfast» nasty, stained covers, over powering smoke smell. Two stars because one of the four employees were kind and helpful
