Good little sandwich shop.(didn’t buy any meats, since I am from out of town) Came with a team to get a pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and chips with a cherry coke. Came out to be around $ 8. Pulled pork was really tasty, fresh and filling. Highly recommended. In fact, I came back the next day and ordered the same thing. The potato salad came in a small container, but it served as a good contrast to the sandwich. Staff was really friendly even though we had about 15 people doing one large group order. Food came out in about 5 minutes. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.

After awhile I’ve learned that this place is only good for getting meat, all of their sides are fake and gross. High fruitrous corn syrup? Instant mash potatoes? Seriously the Shepard’s pie I got had 75% instant mash potatoes, frozen vegetables and a trace of meat. Never again will I buy anything but meat from this store.

Despite the drive, it’s worth it. The only thing I’d avoid here is the turkey pot pie. We got one a few years ago and it was the saltiest thing I’d ever had. I purchased a ribeye roast for Christmas dinner and it was FABULOUS!!! The butcher had advised on which end of the roast would be best and I’m so glad that I listened. This was the most delicious, tender roast I’ve ever had. The roast cost about $ 60 and was well worth it. Considering that you can play close to that for a ribeye steak in a restaurant, that’s pretty reasonable. We also purchase liver and summer sausages here. Delicious! While Waconia doesn’t have much else to see, Macenthuns is more than worth the drive.

Best brats in town, they have a ton of great flavors and at lunch time they even have them cooked if I don’t have enough patience to go home and make my own. Sometimes I can eat one on the way home and no one will know. They also have amazing meat sticks, jerky and while your there their steaks are awesome as well. We have also ordered holiday items from them like leg of lamb for Easter or organic turkey for thanksgiving that they get from local farms. This is my favorite type of place as when you walk in it does not look like much but has great quality and keeps you coming back.

I have a love/hate relationship with this butcher shop. I love it because it has possibly the best bacon I have ever had. I hate it, because it has ruined all other bacon for me. If I am driving by the area I will always stop by to pick up 2 pounds of bacon. I give it away as Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, Hanukkah gifts, and to my neighbor for letting me borrow his lawnmower. My wife snickers when I give away bacon as gifts, but every single person that I’ve given it to has remarked that it is the best bacon they’ve ever had. I once went five days in a row eating BLTs for dinner. It has a nice smoky flavor to it that is making my mouth water just describing it. But enough about the bacon… Every other kind of meat that I have had there has been top-of-the-line. You can’t go wrong with their steaks, chicken breast, and especially their bratwurst. If it’s around Christmas, Easter or Thanksgiving, fork out the money and buy a smoked ham. You will be the hero of the holidays, I guarantee. Also if you’re in the area for lunch or dinner stop by and have a sandwich in their deli shop. All of the meet is from their butcher shop and is simply delicious. I take my little boy in there on Saturdays to get a hotdog and bratwurst meal with Chips and potato salad, all for six dollars… Can’t beat that anywhere. And it’s not an Oscar Meyer wiener we’re talking about here… We’re talking about a homemade wiener with real beef and pork. I just can’t say enough about this butcher shop and will challenge anybody that says anything otherwise!

Really quality meats, brats, burgers, dogs, etc. You can eat on the porch, nicely in the shade. Great place for lunch.

This place has a great selection of fresh meats, deli type salads and other various local food. They also have sandwiches which are amazing so do don’t miss those! The quality of the food is really amazing! The only reason I didn’t give it all 5 stars is the service. They are not overly helpful or friendly since I’m not there long I usually don’t mind too much just know that going in. Don’t expect to chat up the butcher!

I stopped for lunch they had beef stroganoff which was pretty good. However the woman that assisted me was rude and extremely unfriendly. I later found out it was the owner cathy. One of the employees was mouthing«i’m sorry» to me because this extremely unhappy lady(the owner) was so rude. I will make it a point to tell anyone and everyone i meet not to go to this establishment. I have also had some bad luck there with steaks i have purchased being very tough… a ribeye that us tough! I can say they have some good brats and jerky. But stay away from the steaks you pay a premium and they just are not worth it! Go to jubilee in mound for steaks they will hand cut them for you and have never had a complaint. Biggest recommendation though is if the owner cathy is going to serve you walk out! Angry woman that should never work with customers.

Great little shop in a small town with amazing jerky. They change their jerky selection throughout the year and include various types like buffalo chicken, and Jamaican pork. Their string jerky which seems to be offered all year round and is always a solid choice.

Just a pure and sincere meat/deli/sausage/grocery/seafood shack… BEST deal I have had in a LONG time and it was tasty. This will be my destination place from now on, the place that i am willing to drive an hour to get a good meal. I have been a butcher for 23 years now and rarely is it that I can find a place that excites me. MacKenthun’s St Boni does.

This is what a meat deli is supposed to look like! I have been to meat markets in Chicago and they aren’t anything like Mackenthun’s. They have the best selections in meat, jerky, seafood and so much more. If you love meat this is the place for you!

Good beef jerky, nice selection of meats. High school boys who are obviously trained to provide good customer service instead of being surly and indifferent. The summer sausage is a stand out; we got the jalapeño one, which was actually a little spicy. Slice some of that onto a sturdy cracker with cucumber slices and you have a decent snack! One critique I do have is that their prepped items are too salty. We got some salmon spread which tasted mostly of salt. Sometimes the beef jerky is too salty without having a glass of water by myside. The beef sticks could use more of a snap to them as well. However, great to have places like these still around!

I come from Chicago, a place that takes bratwurst very, very seriously. I am a cook and take everything else very seriously. I want to give Mackenthun’s serious props. It is my main meat source and I have eaten just about everything they sell. It is all great. Their fresh meat and salads are delish but the thing I sing about in the shower is their processed and smoked meat. Their bratwursts are the best I have ever bought. They have a bunch of different flavors. I like the smoked ones and the cheese and bacon ones but the plain brats are superb. All the kinds are really good. I say this as a person that spent fifty years in Chicago getting my phd in bratwurst. Their bacon is superb. It is incredibly flavorful and meaty. Smoked to perfection. I love a lot of kinds of bacon(Bines in Stillwater is a favorite, too) but, unlike every other gourmet bacon I’ve eaten, Mackenthun’s is not injected with water and it’s not seasoned with misc froo-froo stuff(sure, I like a maple flavored bacon sometimes, but this stuff tastes like pork; it’s *bacon* flavored). Their jerky, mentioned by other reviewers, is as good as they say. The string jerky is unique stuff(its appearance reminds me of some opiated hash I had once in the sixties; its nearly as addictive, too), really spicy and delicious. I like their campfire jerky. It’s very meat flavored and wonderful. They sell turkey jerky which is wonderful. My woman likes to eat that when she’s in a diet mood and only wants to eat protein. It makes a great, filling, low(er)-cal snack. Did I leave anything out? Well, yes, but I can’t list everything. Their herring is good. Hell, everything is good. And!, the people are really nice. Their sandwiches are tasty. Their prices aren’t even really high. Go there right away. Support them. They deserve your business. You deserve their food.

I’m serious, spicy string beef jerky, you may be the love of my life. Who cares if you give me bad breath, raise my cholesterol, or get caught in my teeth? Why are you only in St. Boni/BFE?

I was driving through Saint Bonifacius, MN coming back from Winsted, MN and I happen to see the place while driving by. I had a summer sausage sandwich and all I can say is WOW! Incredible place! Awesome, awesome, awesome.
