I LOVE this place. The owners are friendly and hilarious! The food is down home /​down da baya comfort food. The onion mum is DELICIOUS FRIED HAPPINESS!
We devoured it amazingly quickly. I got the chicken fried steak with brown gravy, baked macaroni, and butter covered bread. Oh man was it awesome. The steak was seasoned, breaded, and cooked spot on and the gravy on top just made it all melt in my mouth. The baked mac is the best. Better than Rocky and Carlo’s up the road. Yes. It’s that good. And who doesn’t love french bread soaked in butter?!
My SO had the fried shrimp and fries and let’s be honest, it’s difficult to mess that up. But they excelled. The shrimp were as fresh as could be. And that can be hard to tell if it’s fried. But it was.
And Miss Eva makes the BEST brownies!!! I always get some special made for my birthday, and they NEVER disappoint. I could go to bed on a pillow of these brownies. They are moist and fudgey and rich and addictive. Get them. You’ll regret it if you don’t.
If you find yourself going down the road through the Parish, try and stop in here. Do it.

This place is a gem in St. Bernard. Don’t be put off by the store that takes up half the place — the food is great & inexpensive, well done all around.
