I was afraid to go here because of the negative reviews, and the pictures of the restaurant were not very flattering. However, my husband and I dined here tonight and were impressed. The atmosphere is actually very nice, either they remodeled, or we were in a different part of the restaurant than what was shown in the photos. We sat in the very front room, to the right when you walk in. The music was good, Jack Johnson and a couple of other similar tempo bands, not too loud. Our waitress was quite attentive. We, unlike others who reviewed, got our waters and bread very quickly. We were both in the mood for crêpes so we each got the crêpe sampler platter. This came with a seafood, cream of spinach, chicken, and beef and mushroom variety of crêpe. The best out of that, in my opinion, were the chicken and the creamed spinach. The seafood crêpes had cheap artificial imitation crab. It would have been much better with real crab, as well as if it were more warm, as that one came out a little bit room temperature. The beef and mushroom one was quite good however. My husband ordered the soup of the day which was a carrot curry cream soup. It was very good. Their bread is amazing. My husband actually dipped the bread in his soup and it was a delicious combination. I ordered a salad, and had their homemade blue cheese dressing with it; That was some of the best blue cheese dressing I’ve ever had. Overall, we had a very good experience and will be going back sometime soon.

I’m a very picky eater so their famous rack of lamp was very nice but not great(at least for me). Very tasty though. I was debating whether I order rib eye of rack of lamp, and I ended up with ordering the last one. Next time I’ll order a rib eye since I’m a meat eater and will see if I’ll update my review. The interior is very lovely and all house is a Victorian age house with lovely vintage designs inside. And their had this lovely body/hand polish/scrub in their bathrooms. I wish they had a business cards of ppl who make such an amazing organic body scrub(instead I had to take a pic which is no problem but I wanted to have a card). Overall: the food is nice, interior and exterior is gorgeous & lovely, and the customer service is excellent. Highly recommend!

This used to be our go to restaurant for any type of celebration, but has went downhill for sure. I have been going to le pavillon for about 13 years and time after time the quality had decreased. The oysters rockafellar used to be my most favorite decadence in this world. A fabulous white wine garlic butter sauce with spinach on top of oysters… absolute heaven! But now they serve watery sauce with canned oysters. The chicken pavillon was also a favorite of mine… until our last experience there. The sides had been bathed in tarragon and the sauce was just not the same. When you pay $ 200 for a family of four for dinner you should be wowed… not wishing you hadn’t stepped foot in there and went elsewhere. The new owners really need to revert back to the old recipes for sure.

If you see my review for this location again please forgive me for my mess up THISISMYREVIEW! This location is on the small strip of St Augustine, it looks like a small bed and breakfast house, but when you walk inside you are greeted by the allure of China plates and a very homie experience. It’s warm and dim lighten and has a variety of small tables circulating the room. Be aware that when we stopped by on Christmas Day, everyone was very well dressed so I am not sure about how normally everyone walks in. We only stopped in for coffee and desert. We ordered German chocolate cake :))) it was fabulous had a rasberry or cheery filling(my father and I debated which) within the chocolate cake that made my dad so envious he changed his order from chocolate mouse to cake! My mom went simple and had the tiramisu she was engulfed with the light whip and creamy texture. We all had a cup of coffee and it was great for the chilly evening of walking downtown to see the Christmas lights. It took some time for the desert to be brought out and that would be my only complaint– but it was Christmas and I know there was a definite rush, so for the quaint enjoyment of my families company we didn’t mind at all. Very friendly staff and you should always put into consideration that on holidays when you have the privilege to go out and celebrate others are working very hard. Our experience was delicious, the price for desert I would compare to the Cheesecake Factory, which many people flock to so I assume is the best easy to compare it to. Lovely evening experience :)

Did not see much French about this restaurant at all. Dated décor. No real ambience. Their salad comprises of a few lettuce leafs! I’m not making this up. That is it… no tomato, no cucumber, no dressing… nothing. We all turned it down. Really?! Where is your creativity? Can not believe this place received any rewards. Very overrated. So many great places to eat St. Augustine. This place needs to step up its game.

This used to be my favorite places in St Aug. As a local I frequented the restaurant many times and the service and food were excellent. Went the night before Thanksgiving and was greatly disappointed. Our typical server, Diane(who is excellent) was off. We were greeted by some guy with a clipboard who couldn’t figure out where to seat us, which was odd as they were not busy. Unfortunately we were seated in his section and he was awful. He left us sitting with no menus and was not attentive at all the ought the evening. Luckily the water boy and other server helped him out. Kitchen was extremely slow getting food out. Food was just ok but quality wasn’t like it used to be. Escargot were rubbery and not favorable. It seemed as if they’re not using the same quality food as before. Sorry to say probably won’t be back. Another one of our towns finest restaurants ruined.

Our new favorite for a great dinner. Expect to pay for an outstanding dinner but try for lunch if you are in the area. New management. Very friendly staff. Ask for Cory at Dinner. Bar was quick and attentive. Beautiful place with real St Augustine History.

In my previous review, I rated this our absolute favorite restaurant in St. Augustine. However, upon our visit tonight for our anniversary, we found that the chef has forgotten what German food should taste like. Apparently he does not like German food taste and has taken it upon himself to change it to his liking. To their credit they gave us another(non German entre’) that was very good, but less than excellent. We are now in search of another excellent restaurant in St Augustine, which is not easy to come by. Hopefully this chef will read these comments and bring back the excellent meals we have come to expect from LaPavillon.

Despite multiple signs requesting no cell phone use and a three digit dinner bill we had to put up with a not«inside voice» cell conversation about the dining room décor. We learned from fellow diners that the restaurant is undergoing a change in ownership. But really, keep your business transactions to business hours and locations. The wait person was attentive, personable and timely. My shrimp in lobster sauce was tasty. Veg was overcooked but after a starchy lunch I was grateful for any veg. We had come in looking to just have a drink while waiting for the rain to abate. What kept us there for dinner was the«smaller size» menu and prices. Restaurant dinners are usually too large for us, as tourists we have no use for leftovers and as new retirees we are learning to watch our $$$$. Still not a bargain; overall we only spent about $ 4 less than full price. New owners should pay attention to that as we hear they thinking of dumping the small size menu. Three stars because of the cell phone thing. For the price I DEMAND ambience. Good food can be found in lots of places and for less money.

Not sure why this place isn’t higher– best restaurant I went to in St. Augustine! Conveniently was right across from our hotel, and a short walk from many others. Interior was beautiful and romantic with nice music always playing. Service was attentive, only a little bit slow sometimes, but everything was perfectly taken care of. Our waitress even offered to let me substitute my salad with the soup of the day, and they refilled our bread very quickly and without extra charge or anything. We got the German Platter and Crêpe Sampler, both were amazing, and there was definitely enough to take home afterwards. We ended the night with a delicious cheesecake(and I usually don’t like cheesecake at all!). In the end, it was only slightly pricier than some of the other nearby restaurants, but MUCH better. Definitely check it out for a romantic date out when you visit!

Mediocre. I was bummed that the crêpe place down the street was closed, so I found this place and ordered the Crêpe Combination. Big mistake. The food came out a little too quick. All the fillings had dry meat and oily sauce like they had been frozen and reheated in the microwave. The Crêpe Florentine filling was obviously frozen creamed spinach. They make better at IHOP. My friend’s Schnitzel was pretty good, but they charged $ 2 extra on a half portion because it was after 6pm. Weird practice. It was a good portion size, too. I wonder how gigantic the normal portion is. Our salads were sides sliced off a head of butter lettuce with citrus dressing drizzled on top and nothing more. I’ve never had a salad like this before. Is this common in parts of Germany/France/Switzerland? Or is this a Florida thing? The sautéed veggies were good, but I’ve had better rott kohl. The little cheesy breads were really good. The décor was an old-fashioned mish-mosh of random fine art replicas and homey tchotchkes like you tend to find in tourist towns. This is a tourist town, so I can’t really fault them for that. The curtains and walls were a little stained and dusty. Lots of clashing floral patterns. The carpet looked fairly new. Looking around, we were the only patrons who 1) looked like tourists and 2) lacked the silver coifs of experience. These are all signs of a restaurant well past its prime. I kept expecting Gordon Ramsay to pop out and declare he was going to fix up the place. Too bad Kitchen Nightmares was cancelled. But seriously, fresh ingredients, made to order — that’s what this place needs. The waitress was fast, attentive, and nice; she made sure our water glasses were always filled. One more thing, «That’s Amore» was playing on continuous loop the whole time we were there. I was one more loop away from actually saying something about it. I hope they figured it out after we left.

This used to be a favorite of my husband for the sauerbraten, so he chose it for this special occasions celebration even tho it is one hour from our home. Sadly this visit was very disappointing as it was nothing more than tough roast beef and brown gravy at a very high price. Not one bit of sauerbraten taste at all. We asked the waitress if they had a new cook or changed their recipe, she said no and did nothing more. There were other issues such as wrong vegetable on daughters plate, and lack of refills(drinks & bread).

We stopped for lunch and had schnitzel. It was very good. The potatoes and carrots were well seasoned and the red cabbage was pleasingly sweet. We loved the bread garnished with baked cheese. We will come here again. They having parking which is a plus in this area.

We went to a late walk through Ripley’s and this restaurant was conveniently close for our dinner right before the ghost adventure we planned. We truly enjoyed the interior with a very cozy atmosphere and homey look. Sadly, our waitress didn’t seem to be very friendly. However other staff was very responsive and caring. The food was ok. Can’t say it was the best I have ever had. The first order of Escargot was delicious, yet the second came out burnt on top. For an entrée I had a breaded Veal Schnitzel that came with 3 sides. The sides were yummy, yet I felt the schnitzel was a bit greasy and I felt a little sick afterwards. My husband had a German seafood broth(not sure of the exact name) that he enjoyed quite a bit. Overall with one glass of wine and no dessert the bill came out to about $ 80 for two.

The building is set in an old house and has a nice charm to it.(if you want perfect décor with plenty of pretentiousness, go somewhere else.) The menu is simple with great choices. With the exception of your choosing your main entrée, the sides are all predetermined for you. I ordered the chicken Bombay and a salad. It was seasoned perfectly and cooked as requested. The food was exquisite and I enjoyed the entire dining experience.
