This is a Florida Citrus center(i guess an informal welcome center, but the name is wrong) They’ve got all the things you need while on the road and if you’re headed back to North Dakota they’ve got everything you need thats stereotypically Florida so you can impress your friends with a seashell necklace and basket of oranges. Get your tourist on.

After passing many signs on the highway I was persuaded to check it out. Well that and I needed a rest stop. Most of the items in the store are of the typical tourist variety — t-shirts, hats, bags, various knick-knacks with Florida, Disney, etc. written/printed on them. I think the items were a little pricey and can probably be bought cheaper elsewhere. However, they do carry a large selection of homemade goods — jellies, jams, sauces, syrups and candies(include chocolates, fudge, etc.). If I were heading home, I would have bought something other than the maple penuche pecan roll. OMG that thing was delish! Same thing with the fruit, I was so tempted to load up on some citrus fruit(oranges, grapefruits, lemons) but I wasn’t heading home. The stuffed 30ft gator is pretty cool to see as is the live baby gators in the tank. Currently there are 6 in there. Also, they sale gator heads(small to medium in size) so if you or someone you know is into this sort of thing this is probably a good place to buy one. The employees were very friendly and were nice enough to answer all of our questions about the products. Definitely a cool place. I hope to be able to stop in again… when I’m heading in the direction of home so that I load up on a few items.

Driving from Miami, I was slightly delirious, had to pee and stretch my legs, and was curious about the free juice offer advertised on a highway billboard. I stopped at the Florida Visitor Center to satisfy all of my needs. I was with bf and his parents and we all rolled out of the car to see what was up. We were greeted with free samples of citrus fruits, like tangerines, oranges, and grapefruit. Being a non-fan of grapefruit, I tried the other two. Normally, I like tangerines better because I think they are usually sweeter. Not this time. Don’t get me wrong, the tangerine sample was not bad but the orange blew it completely out of the water. Sweet and succulent, I asked one of the young guys outside how much they cost. He told me that for 10 pounds, I would pay $ 11.99. The 20-pound sack(or was it 25) was about $ 20. I went for the smaller one to lug home. I went inside and looked at their offerings. There were the typical rest-stop items, like candies and tons of junk food. They offered some Florida goods, like chocolate-covered coconut patties and had some specialty fudge and pecan stuff for sale. I didn’t get anything but noticed a small refrigerator with orange juice. I didn’t see the free samples anywhere, but since I was thirsty, I grabbed 21-pint bottles for us to try. I paid for the oranges, some coconut macaroons, and the juice and ran to the ladies’ room. Old but decently clean. Did the job just fine and I wasn’t completely horrified by it. On our way out, we noticed the juice dispenser with little clear plastic cups. Even though we had already purchased juice, we all loaded up and were all IMPRESSED. The juice was heavenly and much better than I imagined. Though I don’t want to make the drive again between Atlanta and Miami, if I do, I will have to stop here. The juice is enough to make it worth it.

Another good place to stop and pee, pickup some junk and a bag of oranges. Love the gator heads. The big 13 ft stuffed gator is cool as well. Plus how many stores have an old fashion smoking Indian. So cool.
