This was our first visit to St. Augustine, Florida. We took the tram ride around and the driver recommended this place for really good seafood. Right off the bat and just looking at the place, we knew it was going to be good and we were not disappointed. Our server greeted us as soon as we were seated with a great smile and great attitude. We decided to share the seafood platter which was plenty of food for two. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant when you’re in the area. And we will be back!

We were looking for seafood so thought we’d give it try. Sat down(not much in the way of atmosphere) and waited… and waited… and waited. Wait staff came by into our little corner by the door at least 5 times asking the the other 2 tables of people if they need anything else(they didn’t) but completely ignored us. About the time we began to believe we were invisible we decided to leave, hungry… and thirsty.

Great service and food! Not a long wait to be seated or for the food. Large portions for the price. Loved it!

Very disappointed. steamed shrimp was good but Do not order the steak here unless you want canned coleslaw warmed up vegetables and a very thin dry steak. Otherwise nice staff.

Great food and grest service. Easily accommodated our large group(11 people). Matanzas shrimp and coconut shrimp were awesome! Highly recomended.

This place was basically a Captain D’s which serves liquor. The staff was friendly but food was slow, and fried fried fried. If you’re looking for some fresh grilled seafood or a sophisticated dining experience, this is not the place for you.

Down in Daytona used to be a barnacle bill’s. Place was good for awhile then sucked. First time I went to the one here. It also sucked, let me tell you why. Food is over priced for what you are geting. Food is also bland. Most my sides I got had no taste at all. My friend got chicken fingers for $ 15?! Come on, other local resturants had better tasting and way cheaper chicken fingers. Fast foof places put this place to shame. Thats sad.

We were recommended this place by some friends. Good service and decent selection. I expect seafood restaurants to be expensive, but for the price, the taste was just mediocre. I wouldn’t go back.

Shrimp was good. Fries were cold. Coleslaw didn’t have much taste and the service was terrible. Have eaten here many times and by their website they boast employees with many years experience. This tells me they should run like a well oiled machine. Didnt happen. No apologies for slow service. Food brought to table and our friend was informed, with her food in front of her, that they were out of one of the items she ordered. 6 of us won’t go back.

Lunch week day. Service average. Food fresh. Shrimp good, but for the area certainly not exception. Value to price average.

Very poor choice. Clam chowder was both cold and too salty, and not to forget like paste. Shrimp were good, but for the money not top of the heap.

I have never quite experienced such a confusing lack of flavour. The staff and location were alright. The prices were fair. But gosh, there was a strange lack of culinary creativity. It’s like they were cooking for children who don’t like anything. Or people who can’t taste anything anyway. idk. It’s not that everything was completely bland, but it surely fell flat and left you waiting for something. Anything! It’s not offensive, nor is it special. So it’s good if you’re starving. I guess.

This place was recommended to us when we were visiting Saint Augustine. My husband and i are sea food fans so we decided to try Barnacle. They seemed to have good fried shrimp options but we decided to order other fish. My husband ordered the fish of the day, which i think was the snapper, and i decided to order salmon. The waiter let me customize my dish, which i really appreciated. Both the dishes were absolutely tasty. The hush puppies came along with them which i did not cherish a lot. I like to visit and eat at local places when i am visiting a new city and this place had that nice local feel to it. The price was also reasonable. Will visit again when i go to St Augustine.

Don’t bother with this place! It looks like an old motel and the food is mediocre at best. The fish was obviously frozen and the sides had no flavor at all. My husband did enjoy his shrimp, but not the sides.

This is not a place to eat healthy! but rather to indulge in all sorts of fried shrimp with different batters and what not :) They have amazing fried shrimp, great fish, and awesome soups. They have awesome food overall. The wait usually takes a little while, but it is worth it. The staff is also very friendly :)

When I visit Florida I make sure to eat nothing but seafood and my choices are usually fried or broiled, this was our first night and I jumped in with both feet and decided to go fried. The food was good and while it wasn’t the best I have ever had, everything was cooked perfect, served warm and had a nice light breading, my only complaint was the hush puppies but what can you do, I wasn’t there to eat hush puppies. All of these places are a bit over priced but we had a nice meal and good service on our first night in St. Augustine.

I dreamed I saw St. Augustine. And in his hand he held a Datil pepper. The Datil pepper is a local curiosity, originally thought to have been brought by the Minorcans, an eyeless underground dwelling species of humanoid(no, just kidding it’s an island in the Mediterranean) on their way to America. Pit stop Cuba, maybe, no one knows for sure, somewhere along the way they picked up and brought with them this little devil with a sunny citrus bite. Datil peppers being a back yard sort of venture, Barnacle Bill’s is one of the only local establishments where you can sample this fabulous little firecracker. That alone gives them five stars. Try the Minorcan clam chowder spiked with Datil peppers and the fried shrimp with Datil pepper dipping sauce. In fact try anything with Datil in it. Datil do it. Whaa ha ha haaaa!

While pricey, the food here is worth it. I highly recommend the Blue Cheese Shrimp. You won’t find a dish like that at your local Red Lobster. The service was spectacular and very attentive. Next time I come to St. Augustine, I’ll be sure to return to Barnacle Bills.
