Not sure how the food is here because we never got seated. We came today on a Sunday morning to try it out on a whim. We walked in and there was no hostess stand. No sign stating if we should seat ourselves or if we should wait. No one else was waiting a head of us. 3 waitresses walked by us several times, looked us in the eyes, without acknowledging us and kept going. After waiting for 10 minutes to be seated or acknowledged we left. Talk about bad customer service. I would have been fine if someone would have even bothered to say they would be with us soon. But we got nothing. I don’t typically write bad reviews but this one was pretty bad. Good luck!

One of my «go to» restaurants in my area. I have read the other reviews. And I agree, it is a «hole in the wall» restaurant, that is part of its appeal to me. You don’t even know it is there unless you are specifically looking for it. And you can only access it from one side of Lindbergh, that is true — so TURNAROUND and go back to it, because it is worth the turn around. Heaping portions, friendly service, and dated décor.

Sunrise is a place close to my heart! I was raised here. You come here to feed your soul and your tummy The place is very eclectic and homey. The owner John is caring and give a wonderful customer service to his guests. He is always there and you should ask for him when you are in Prices: they are all from 1970. He doesn’t raise his prices! Great breakfast skillets and omelettes ! Breakfast specials are always on early in the morning If you have dinner make sure you order a coconut pie or Albaloo pie. John Thank you for the wonderful restaurant you have established

The food is simple but good. The service is fast and friendly. Everything a diner should be. The restaurant needs some updating but is spotless clean.

I love this place. Good food, really friendly people, and super-reasonable prices. I had the hungry man special today(2 bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 fresh eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits & gravy) for $ 5.99. Sandy will probably be your server, and she is really sweet and attentive. You can’t go wrong here!

I have been in the back door of this place. It is a garbage pit. When they run out of shelfs, they use the floor. Had them lie and steal from the delivery guys by hiding products that were brought in and saying they were not delivered that item. Never tried the food, I could never get past the filth in the back room.

Good fresh food & excellent service. The menu is broad and I don’t think there is anything over $ 8. The farm fresh eggs were as good as described;I didn’t have to ask for extra napkins, a plus for me:) and my toast was perfect. I’ll definitely be back with my little ones next time. This place has permanently removed Ihop and Denny’s as future breakfast choices for me.

Okay I can’t give a review because as soon as my husband and I opened the door and entered inside there was a roach in the door way. Turned back around immediately. I was forced to give a star in order to post my review. Actually there is 0 stars.

Decent food. Nothing to write home about. It’s definitely a hole in the wall but its super cheap and you can feed an entire family of 5 for under $ 50. If you looking for some cheap greasy food after a night of partying this place will do the trick.

Good food, inexpensive and a friendly waitress. This place isn’t too far from the St. Louis airport which makes it a great place to eat! Don’t let the outside fool you — it’s clean and cozy.

The food has gotten much better! Many years ago I had some negative experiences here, but much has changed since those days. If you’ve dismissed this place because of previous negative experiences, I strongly suggest you give this place another try. It’s still an inexpensive diner, with a typical diner menu, but the food is actually GOOD now. I particularly recommend the Country Fried Steak breakfast.

This is the perfect spot for classic diner breakfast! There are mismatching coffee cups and regulars; it’s that kind of diner. It’s not gourmet, but it’s homey and Mr. H and I frequently hit up this spot with nearby friends. I’ve only ever been for breakfast, but you can’t go wrong with the slinger(add jalapeños) and a cup of shitty diner coffee for like 8 bucks. The boys usually order the fiesta skillet(also very good and comes with salsa and sour cream). The prices are good and the service is attentive. This is a fantastic down to Earth spot for a simple meal. See you next Saturday morning!

They were friendly, but the customer service is better at McDonald’s. The place was kind of empty, but it took 10+ minutes for anyone to say anything to us. I was starting to think it was a racial thing; everyone who walked in after us received service right away. The food. Ever cooked old breakfast meat out your own fridge as a last resort… well that was the taste. French toast was the best thing on my plate. The eggs taste like plastic. Not going here anymore. Ive never felt like the waiter didn’t deserve a tip at all. Til the place!

Friendly staff and GREAT prices! You get so much food for little or nothing. The food is good, much better than IHOP but not as good as Bob Evans but for the prices you can definitely over look that. If you want bfast for cheap, look no further. Oh, but you can only access the restaurant going North on Lindbergh bc of the median :/

Good breakfast food. Prices are excellent! I can actually afford to order what I want here and not feel cheated. Coffee is good and served in a large mug. Worth the time. Inside is dated.

This place has been in our area for many years. Its not at all a fancy place, but if you want good, down home cooking, this is THE place to go. The biscuits and gravy are awesome. Pretty much all of the breakfast food is great. Today i went there with my 2 teenage daughters and 2 of us had burgers and one had breakfast fare. I had the black and bleu burger and it was GREAT. My daughter who rarely finishes what she orders from restaurants, finished every single bite of her breakfast food. She said it was great. I noticed many many people ordering fried chicken and it looked great. I will definitely order it the next time I go. Like i said, this is not a fancy place… i mean, I don’t think one coffee cup in the place matches another one in there, but the food is what we go for and we are ALWAYS happy with our meals and service.

I read Elle’s review. I was looking for a breakfast spot at the last minute. I think she’s right on point. The ‘old building’ funk pushed me to go with a 3 star rating. Waitress was very nice. Service is quick. Food is solid. As my colleague said, «You’d want to come here after a night of partying.» Busy this morning. I went with an omelet and the potatoes. Good breakfast. Can only access it when heading north on Lindbergh. I’m rusty on the jug-handle navigation from my time in New Jersey — so, my approach was less then perfect. Nice tour of the neighborhood.

Don’t let the outside fool ya or even the initial impression when you walk in because they food here is really good! When ya walk in this place it’s like stepping back into the 1950’s. It’s kinda awesome. Definitely a small-town, homey feel that serves good olé family cookin’. They had a iceskates up on the wall and a Christmas tree in the corner. How precious. Don’t come here expecting the best food in the whole wide world. It is great for grandma’s greasy cooking. I’ve only eaten breakfast here but it’s been amazing everytime. I got pancakes and they are so fluffy and light and awesome(esp if you add a little butter). The bacon was nice, thick, large slices; slightly overcooked maybe but super good cuz I love bacon! :) The prices are reasonable and the service is great. This is a great place for a quick delicious home cooked breakfast!

The Sunrise Family Restaurant is an old style diner that has a very small-town, homey feel. Service is prompt and super friendly. I had a Monte Cristo sandwich per the waitresses recommendation and I won’t lie, it was pretty disappointing. Take a stack of turkey and a couple thick slices of ham out of their respective industrial packs, microwave them with some swiss cheese on top and serve on limp french toast. Somebody out there might like it. I didn’t. It came with a salad and fries, both of which were good. The fries were thick steak fries cooked to a perfect golden brown. I have a feeling there are some good items on the menu. I would especially be interested in trying breakfast. I’ll be back.
