My old Jamis Exile has admitedly seen better days. Last weekend I had a cable malfunction while pedalling on the rail trail, so I took the bike to the nearest shop, which was White’s Green Mountain Bikes. Looked like a nice shop, tucked in off Rt 7 in Georgia. The owner said he could offer a tune up for $ 40 and a cable change for $ 10. That sounded reasonable to me, so I left my bike there. A couple of days later he gave me a call and said he didn’t want to work on it, due to some frame damage(seat post rusted into the frame while bike was in storage in my sister’s barn). I thought that it was an odd statement, but he evidently has certain principles, and he’s entitled to them. I ended up taking the bike all the way down to Winooski, to Old Spokes Home, and they fixed it on the spot. The circumstances would be different if I had a newer bike, so my advice is not to bring in an older bike. I was a little disappointed here.
